Voice SMS problem with a Katana II

I've had the phone for over a year and the VoiceSMS has never worked correctly. There is an option for sending and receiving VoiceSMS in the menu, but any VoiceSMS received comes in as a text message prompting me to call a number to retrieve my message. None of the other phones I have had uses VoiceSMS in this manner. I know that some phones are not meant to use VoiceSMS, but this one is: It describes in the user guide how to use VoiceSMS and there is a menu section dedicated to VoiceSMS. When I attempt to send a VoiceSMS from this phone, it stays in the "Pending" folder indefinately. There is no problem with any other data service (sending/receiving pictures and text messages; browsing web). I seem to recall on my first phone there was some setup that needed to be done on Sprint's end to enable the service, but perhaps my memory is faulty. I have called Sprint and have not received any help. Getting a text message to call another number to retrieve my VoiceSMS is not really a feature, nor does it work like VoiceSMS on any other phone I've owned that had this feature.
