I've been on the phone with Sprint for 3 hours trying to activate an older Sanyo SCP-4500 phone. They are saying it might not work!? How could it not work? It's a Sprint phone....anyone having any luck trying to activate an older phone?? The ESN is clear, and all. They get stumped at the NAM 1 Home SID, they keep trying to give me a MSID phone #, but this field will only accept 5 digits??
Help!! This is so frustrating, and on top of it all, Sprint deactivated my v950, I can't even make a call on it, nothing!!!....grrrrrrr:mad:
Any help would be great guys..thanks!

Unfortunately older phones like the 4500 are DOA because of age and a change in FCC regs that require phones to be portable (meaning number portability). So, Sprint will not and can not legally activate that phone from my understanding on this issue in the past.

You are lucky then, cause I have an old Sanyo 6400 that Sprint told me could not activate it cause of FCC regs.
And Sprint did try to activate it tho. A CSR agent who did not know any better try it, but her supervisor she ask for help said older phones (that are not WLNP compliant) are not to be activated. *shrugs*

SL-10, you we're right. last night I sent down the street to the Sprint Store, and after about 10-min of all the reps oohh'ing, and aaahh'ing at the classic relic, they realized they could not program it. Soemthing about MSID's not mathing to another number, and WLNP compliancy. Bummer...that's cool.
For some reason I've been wanting to go minimal, and go back to a very basic phone. I love my new v950, but I don't use any other features at all really. I guess I should pony up the $$ and get a Premium Membership so I can sell my v950 on there....(if anyone is interested, PM) (I hope I was allowed to say that, if not, I will edit the post). I've been looking at the older Sanyo models. Since the 4500 did not work, I'm looking at the SCP-4900, RL-4920, and RL-4930...The RL-4920 seems to be the sweet spot....I can go pick up a 4900 today, but, I'm not sure if that one will work....I'd imagine it would.....I just love those older Sanyo bar phone, such a great feel in the hand, great reception, decent battery life, and just the basic feature I need...
