Heh, funny. Since we're still NOT at 100% with EVDO coverage this is wierd that the coverage will be changing yet again. But for the better. :D

*EDIT* Wait, does this really having ANYTHING to do with our mobile devices such as my Mogul? I only ask because I am checking out the website and it seems like it's aimed towards PC/Laptop users.

Nothing to do with it.

Funny how they're rolling out coverage yet don't even have a WiMAX phone.

edit: and I realize this is simply for computers, but I hope XOHM will have a phone use soon

SPrint already has a 4g connection card that can be ordered; devices will follow after a large deployment. Deploying a phone for use in two cities would be lame.

The hope is that everything can embed Wimax chips inside eventual as price drops; TV's, netbooks, computers, routers, Jukeboxes. Moto just announced a Wimax router as well that plugs into a USB connection card, giving business owners the ability to create their own Wifi mobile hotspots.

I have a feeling that Springfield, MO does not rank high on the "Ready" list. And below that is my home town with 2 stop lights.

owners the ability to create their own Wifi mobile hotspots.

Um, I can already do that with my phone...

My question will be if there will be a software upgrade to the Radio Stack on the HTC phones to allow this standard to work.

How does Grand Rapids get 4g and in the boonies where I live about 2 hours away, we don't even have EVDO. We still have 1X....

From what I'm reading, this technology looks like something GR wanted, (meaning they went out and got it) so this site wasn't chosen out of a hat with the intent of pissing off residents of "real cities".

this may be affiliated with sprint, but it's obviously something different

It's because, Western Michigan, is an iPCS market and they were a bit slower to upgrade to EVDO, though, I believe I heard they were upgrading right now.

I did the driving/leasing and zoning for a bunch of the Grand Rapids sites, I'm stoked to hear about the market going on air soon!

It is spreading pretty fast so everyone be patient, next year sometime most places (cities) will have it.

Very happy to see it come to Raleigh, NC! I can't WAIT.

My only concern though is that Time Warner Cable apparently will be doing the signing up...and I HATE TWC.

I'd rather go thru Sprint or any company except theres. Yes I know that TWC is a part of the group of companies that signed onto to spread it but I hate dealing with them in any capacity and would love to avoid them.

Anyways here's to having WiMax in NC by the end of 2009!

Just went to a Sprint training today. Official launch for Atlanta is planned for Aug. 16th

4G handsets slated for next year (and I would guess late), but nothing more precise than "handsets".
