I live in Downtown Baltimore and I finally had enough of Comcast. I decided to give XOHM a try after much consideration and I have to say I am really impressed. My average speed is about 2.4 megs down and 1.4 megs up. Not too shabby for $25 a month (for 6 months, $35 after), no contracts, and the easiest install you'll ever encounter. It's definitely not as fast as Comcast was but the pros outweigh the cons for me. I don't use the internet for downloading movies or anything. Mainly just surfing and watching hulu or my slingbox. Both work great on it! I would recommend this to anyone who lives in Baltimore and just uses the web for the basics.

Did you go with the home modem or the USB modem adapter?

Hey mdassad,

I'm writing an article for The Sun and would like to interview you about your Xohm experience; can you let me know of some way that I might be able to get in touch with you?

Best,

Eli

Go to clear.com and youll be able to see what they have to offer as far as home services. I actually didnt know it was that cheap 25$ a month for the first 6 months then 35$ after?? It sounds like dsl pricing. I havent seen the mobile broadband plans for 4 g yet does anyone know what the price plan is for 4g on sprint in Baltimore or Portland?

Eli101,

Sorry to not see your reply about doing the Sun article...I haven't checked this board in a while. I know it's about 2 months later, but if for some reason you still need to talk with me, just let me know.

It cost me $85 for the modem and that was it...other than the monthly fee of $25 for the first 6 months and then $35 there after.

just got mine today. Setup and hooking up with my home router is easy....

I have to hard reset my modem as it was taking longer than it should to link up with the tower. I am on the eastside of Baltimore.

i just got my 3g/4g card out here in portland, oregon.

activated it on my line. for about the first 10 minutes, i was using clear's network. previous i had a merlin 720 card and was averaging about 900kbs download and 300kbs upload. then with the franklin card it was hitting about 1.4mbs/500kbs so slightly higher.

hehe then 10 minutes later i got booted off clear and was directed to sign up with their services. the best part then happened, my card/software refused to default back to sprint's 3g services.

good thing i could still do the #777 option and use it.

Tech,
CALM down. They don't even officially launch in Texas until Sept. 1st. They will continue to increase speeds as they upgrade more towers.
