View Full Version : Contract renewal drama - what to do?

My SERO contract expired in late August. Other than how nice it was to begin with, I used to get a 10% loyalty discount on top, and 500 free texts a month.
I let it expire because I wanted to get contract pricing on a Touch Pro. So I got it last week for the good renewal price but to my amazement the sweet girl who sold me and activated the Pro didn't renew my contract!
So I wrote Sprint through e-care and asked them if I could get my 10% discount back (it stopped once my contract did) + the $70 service credit, and they said they could only give me the $70, that the 10% is "expired from the system."
And the sucky thing about this is that a previous ecare rep wrote me and said they would reinstate the 10% if I re-upped!
How do I get both of these - what should I do? Call retentions or roll the dice and write again to a whole new rep through ecare, or something else?
Or am I looking at this all wrong and should I pay the 10% more just to be free of a contract? With this new phone and my overall satisfaction with Sprint I wouldn't mind the contract if only they're willing to make me the deal I want!

I would give it a few days and really see if your plan dosen't get renewed. If it doesn't and you got the Touch Pro for the discounted price I would just eat the 10% just to stay out of contract.

Yeah, walk away man ! you got discounted pro without contract.
10% of $30 is only $3 more a month !! you can't afford that ?

Actually, it's the $50/1250 plan I have, so it was $5 less a month - plus the $70 on top of that (if they'd give it to me!), so I'd be saving quite a lot - costs add up for me.
I just like getting all the discounts and extras I can get - if I get such an expensive complex phone ($260 is high even for a contract price) I figure I'm probably not going anywhere for 2 years, may as well keep the extra money if I can.
What's your reasoning for not being under contract? Just to be able to bolt without penalty? I can't see any alternative deals/contracts right now that could come close to what Sprint gives me - AT&T's rates are total crap even if they have the iPhone (which isn't as good as the Touch Pro in some ways) and T-Mobile's Google Phone is iffy. Verizon isn't even worth considering, their prices and phones are retarded.
Say I want to try for the discounts - how would I best go about it since e-care looks less likely right now?

Why are people SO SO SO SO greedy
WOW
I think sprint should just look at your account see you got the phone from sprint and paid x, and renew your contract...

C'mon, I know I'm getting a good deal already but can you fault me for trying to improve it as much as possible as long as I'm polite? I've been with Sprint for more than 4 years and they've made a lot of money off me and it's not as if I've used/abused their service to anywhere near its limits like some customers do.
I appreciate any advice from people with experience in these matters. Thank you.

I been with Sprint for 10 years, I hope you get more discounts, I'm waiting for Sprint to start offering Vision free again.
*I miss the old days of first minute free plans*

Now that's funny...Sprint made a lot of money off you ?? that is because you're using their service.
I was paying $65 (2 lines) before my contract ends and lost the discount, now $80+
I'm happy giving Sprint my $80+ cause they provide a good service for me at least. I could complain, etc to get my bill back but hey they need to make at least some money from somewhere. $20 more a month is not that much for the service i'm getting.

how can you be on SERO and say that sprint made a lot of money of you???? secondly, see even when sprint makes a mistake in the customers favor, they still are not happy?!?!?!?!?!? what else can sprint do??? I know we lost over 1.3 million subs in the last quarter, but some of them I think were a good business decision, being a retention rep we are being trained to look over a account, and see if it even makes business sense to keep you, customers with all these discounts, not paying for this or that are not good business to keep IMHO.

Wow..And your still not happy why? Take the phone and run with it, if not remove some of your addons.
