Is it possible to hook up any phones (regular ones such as the LG Lotus, or smartphones) to use backwards tethering?
For example, if I don't have a data-plan, and I want to download things onto a smartphone or other phone by hooking in the usb cord to my computer with internet...

windows mobile devices can but its kinda pointless since by connecting the cable you can just copy the files over and no non-smartphones that im aware of can

on a Q9 you can also put stuff on the SD card with a card reader, and also bluetooth it in....personally I wouldn't bother carrying a smartphone without internet...

I think I can say this Windows Mobile phone...YES.
When you connect your phone to your computer through ActivSync for Windows XP or Mobile Center for Vista...and your computer has internet connection, you can use your phone to browse internet to download stuff direct to your phone.
