I recently had an online chat with Sprint Customer Service about the Data Plans. I was on the website trying to find what my options were to add a data plan; I was trying to keep my Fair and Flexible Family Plan and add data to a couple of phones.
The Customer Support person told me that they had two data plans starting at $15/Month.
These were the explanations:
$15 Data Pack Unlimited Data Access, WEb Browsing NFL Mobile Basic TV Basic Radio Sprint Mobile Email
$30 PRO Pack Data Pack Unlimited Data Access, Web Browsing NFL Mobile Basic TV Basic Radio Sprint Mobile email Picutre Mail/Video Mail Sprint Mobile email Work Sprint Navigation Domestic 2-way Text Messages
I need to be able to access my email, web browse, and text. Does this mean I should opt for the $30 plan?
I am looking for some advise.. please help.

It would depend on what you are paying for Texts right now. If your text plan is more than $15/mo then the PRO pack would be cheaper as it includes texting. But if its less than $15/mo then the $15 pack would be cheaper.

I was just looking into this too. I don't know what your calling plan is now or how many minutes you need, but have you looked at the calling plan that includes unlimited text messages? I believe it starts at $50/month. If you don't need, or aren't interested in, GPS or Picture/Video mail, you can switch your plan and then just add the $15 data pack, instead of getting the PRO pack.

I have the F&F 800 plan with 4 phones; I also have text plans on two of the phones. my bill is $100+/Month.
I like the plan I am on because when we go over our minutes it cost me $5 for an additional 100 minutes.

Ahh, I see. Well I guess what it comes down to then, is how much texting you do. If not that much, you could try add the data pack and the text pack individually. It might be cheaper. If you use a lot of text, just go with the PRO Pack.

So, I am understanding this to say that the $15 data pack does not have any allowance for texting included????

Current $15 data plan does not include picture mail?
At the begin of this year, I added $15 Power Vision data plan that include picture mail.
I also like to keep F&F plan. I may use picture mail alot when I upgrade my 2nd phone to Touch Pro...but dont really want to pay extra $30.

Based on OP's breakdown of the data packs, the $15 pack does not include text or picture mail. I haven't looked into it to verify it though.

I actually called in a few months ago to add a texting plan to a phone on my F&F plan. I was hoping to share the allowed number of texts I had on my one phone with the phone that didn't have a plan at all. I ended up going from a $5.00 per month for 300 text plan I had on one phone to getting 500 minutes on both phones for 1.00 per month each. It all depends who you get on the phone as to how the call works out for you! Same thing for the Vision plans - could be anywhere from free to $25.00 per month. I always ask for a loyalty / retention courtesy.

Well... I called Sprint Customer Service and talked them into giving me the $15.00 Data Pack free for a month; I tried to get it at a discounted rate but they wouldn't budge on the price.

Getting plans/plan add-ons at discounted rates is almost always a crapshoot. It can take a lot of calls/emails to do that.
Instead of asking for discounted rates on a data plan, ask for a loyalty discount. Assuming you've been with Sprint for a good while. Right now I receive 2 10% loyalty discounts on my bill. Not exactly sure how it happened... I used to have 3 lines so at one point they applied the 2nd discount to my 2nd or 3rd line (I can't remember). I canceled both of those & since then my only line I have has 2 adjustments for loyalty discount. I'm not complainin'.

If you ask for a loyalty discount, do they make you sign another agreement or can they just add that to your account right away even if your not on contract?

Are these data plans charged per phone on a shared plan?
I asked for the $30 PRO Pack Data Pack to be added to my old Area Wide Family 1000 Shared plan, but was told it was not available.
Instead they sold me the Premium Data Pack for $25 a month. I was told that it would cover both of my two lines for that price; well they only added it on line. I complained and they wanted to charge me an extra $25 a month for data on the second phone! I ask for cancellations and they added the data plan to the second line free of charge.
So who was right, the first guy who said it was shared or the second who said that data is charged per line?

I am really happy with my plan, Everything Plan with 1500 min. plus I added the data pack for my son 15.00 monthly, all 3 phones have 1500 min. and unlimiting texting and my sons' line has internet and has unlimited texting. We seldom use the 1500 mins. but have them if needed, and also we have roaming free. my bill 150.00, not bad I dont think, let me know if there is a better deal out there. please He has picture video and mail, I guess it because of the data pack, right?
