Hey there, I've been using pocket express, which has (belatedly?) opened my eyes to the possibilities for getting news, weather, sports, etc. on my phone for those "in-between" times. Now that I have a sense that this is possible, is Pocket Express the best option for my Windows Mobile phone?http://img.sprintusers.com/images/smilies/laughing.gif

I like it for the news, but the NCAA scores are always late so I don't use it for sports

i love and hate pocket express.it's good for quick access for information but some bug or user error causes it to pop up when i am surfing the internet.so i hit the back key and keep going but it drives me crazy.

It's good in that you can access all that info in one place and not have to hop around sites using Pocket IE.

I am new on these forums as I just got a HTC diamond from Sprint. What is Pocket Express?? Is it free to use?

Yes & no... some of its features are free and others cost money. It has "channels." The download itself is free. You can get access to all its channels for $4.99/month. All of them do come with free trials, though, but it's worth mentioning that all of the channels it offers, free & not-free, are available for free via WAP sites out there. Not as "convenient" but saves you the extra money.
Go to Handmark's website to find out the details for it.

When I used it (then) was called On Demand and all was free on the treo 700p,I only occassionally used it.At some point I had to modify the settings to update manually only because it was interfering with other programs I was using, and cause some resets so when some features were added, and some I liked were removed I just quit using it.I think it's too expensive when (if you're willing to take the time search for it) you can usually find the same service, website etc for free with a little searching & bookmark it.The good thing about is it offers several things in one place(sort of). It's worth checking out to see if it's something you'd be interrested in.

Thanks for your replies.
I actually found out that there is a version of Pocket Express on my HTC diamond. I clicked on the icon and it downloaded the latest Pocket Express. Right off the bat, it seems like a really useful app with news, weather, sports and stocks. I haven't played much with the travel or movies thing. Will keep playing with it as long as it's FREE:D

Your basic stuff is free. Things like Maps, Dictionary, 411 & such cost money after the trial is up. But all of those things, as I mentioned earlier, can be found on WAP sites. I have a (currently unorganized) WAP directory at http://centro.laursifer.com.

laursifer, I don't think you have to worry about paying for Pocket Express anymore.
Julka.Vincent, Check out the movie listings tool it's great.
I think Pocket Express is a lot easier than navigating to all those WAP sites separately.
Their website is: http://express.handmark.com/

My question would be does Pocket Express spam you to death? Does it spam you at all?

Laursifer's insights are right on wrt alternatives, now that I am ripe old user of about 3 months. I would differ only in that the difference in downloadable app vs. wap experience can be significant, especially on a slower network. Pocket Express doesn't seem to bother with pictures because they are bandwidth hogs. It also seems to download new content fairly efficiently.

I'd also guess that they will attempt to stay a little bit ahead of the standard WAP curve in order to maintain differentiation. Somethings like location, transaction, etc., can't be done on web.

Do we think Pocket Express is going to come on Palm Pre?

Seems like they try to have a version for all smart phones, which I think the PRE is, right?

Yeah, your right.
Hey this is out of left field, but does anyone know of any Rugby (The sport that Brits and Aussies play) apps out there.
For smart phone, I'm sure there are Rugby iPhone apps allready.

I use the RSS Reader that came with my Diamond, much much easier than loading up Pocket Express.
I have CNN, Yahoo, Wall street j, local newspapers, espn and a few blogs
