I will be out of my contract next month (November) and I am in need of a new phone. My lg lx550/fusic is acting up and I can barely go throughout the day without the battery completely dying.
I am on a family power pack 1400 minutes with three lines total. The two lines have been with Sprint for 4 years in June of 09 and my line has been with Sprint for 2+ years. The only extras we have are unlimited texting on my line for 10.00 a month and we pay about 122.50 every month.
After seeing this do you think it would be possible for my line to have a free data plan for browsing the web/email/IM/etc. and possibly a reduced/free smartphone?
Thanks in advance for taking the time to look this over.

The new Sprint will give you a deal on a new phone, but free date is not going to happen. They shut down the freebie wagon a while back.

Thank you for a quick response. In your opinion, what do you think is the best way to ask for these things?

did you say you pay $10 for unlimited messaging?? There maybe a rep that may hook you up with free messaging.. or free 1000 messages and you can maybe get the internet for $10 or $15.. thts a work around!!
Also, you can call and ask what they'll do for you and what kinda service credit they gonna give since u wanna buy a new phone.. mostly they may say a $70 or $60 or so as service credit on your bill to renew your account.. thats apart from the $150 they'll give u to upgrade your phone if you are still upgrade eligible. :) Goodluck. Let us know what you come up with!!

Elementzz, you have nearly the same plan I have. Except we have 200 text message free and 4 phones on the 1400 plan.
I was able to get them to reduce the price of the Samsung Ace, first they offered it for $200, then they said they match the online price of $100, then when I said it was still too high, they offered the $70 off the line to make it $30.
I didn't renew my account because they offered a $50 for 1000 and then when they were doing it, I was told it was 'expired'

My friend just called Sprint to inquire about a phone. He is out of contract and they offered him the $70 credit plus free N/W @ 6pm. Not sure of all the details but he said he will get the phone for free and still make about $20 off of Sprint from the credits he will receive.

Wow, they told me the 6pm is dead. Sounds like a good perk.

Maybe they keep it around for people who are out of contract.

3 of the 4 phones I have are out of contract... though at this rate I may wait til march (last phone to be out of contract) and might really consider moving.

I was able to snag the unlimited vision data plan for only $10 instead of $15 a few days ago! I tried to get that deal a few months ago and they wouldn't give it to me so I turned it off and when I called about a week ago I said I only wanted it if they could give it to me for $10! So now I have it on 2 out of 5 of my lines.

Yes, I do pay 10 dollars for unlimited texts. I was actually hoping for something like free/reduced texting because someone posted before they no longer give credits for vision and I don't want to pay too much more than I already am.
Also, I've seen that people have gotten some sort of vision for 5 dollars a month. Is that the unlimited vision or is it different in some way.
Should I try contacting ecare or echat or would I be better off calling customer service... retentions?

I am not going to say anything about freebies, but the talk/message 1500 is $99 a month with the third line 9.99 and then you get unlimited text on all 3 lines and an extra 100 minutes-not a freebie, just one of the newer plans and the name will be changing to the everything messaging
