View Full Version : What Free Perks/Add-Ons Have You Gotten Recently?

i've been reading a lot about how people were able to get FIMF, 6pm/5pm, bonus minutes, America Roaming, pick3, and etc for free.
I would like to know what is the most recent perk or add-on you got. This can help some people if they are attempting for a perk. It would be nice if you can add your letter to ecare and there response or what exactly you said to them.
Thanks to
:headbang2 Sprintusers!
i successfully added pick 3.... but i would like to attempt for FIMF, unlimited incoming, or 6pm N&W

Not when I signed up for it, had to get it added later. I believe I got 500 texts free, but they switched it to unlimited for me.

A couple of weeks ago I got free Pick 3 on both lines.
A week or two before that I got free Airave service, that I was promised ORIGINALLY.
EDIT: I also got my NVP changed from 24% (bill recently showed 14% even though Sprint confirmed that all their records still show 24%). I got it changed to my new employer which has 23%.
Back in March/April I got 1000 bonus anytime minutes every month. Also around this time I got 5 PM nights, UL text messaging and UL incoming. Depends on what you call recent ;).

you do realize even if you get the 10% loyalty discount its only 3 bucks off right? my bill with sero is about 33.47..yours would be 30.47 with the 10% discount..is it really worth that extra 3 bucks to keep emailing and calling about? Mind you its only about 36 bucks after a year..so for every year youd get ONE month free of service..if your really worried about the 3 bucks as much as it looks like you are start picking up cans on the side of the road..should net you about the same profit in a year.

however, my 24% percent saves me $7.20 of the bill right away, and then I am only taxed on 22.80, not $30..so it saves $8 a month...I know it's only 96 a year..but hell....it can probably pay for a nice fancy dinner

Retention is your best bet...
I just got pick 3 added about a week ago.. via retention.
tried for 20% corporate discount and 6pm nights via email (twice, on top of sero) but got denied. too lazy to call retentions.. especially since they credited me over quite a bit of $$ for overages. don't want to be too greedy :hee:
Having a "dispute" in billing, and then threatening to cancel... i find that always works (or just threaten to cancel). just be calm, explain your "situation" clearly and don't be angry at them..

That 10% equates to $3 if you have a plan for $30. My girlfriend has a plan for her and her son that is $130 so 10% is $13. Thats worth it in my book. Im trying to get it cheaper than that but unfortunately Sprint is harder to work with now than it was earlier this year when I took care of my account.

Sometimes it isn't totally about the money. Sometimes it is just the feeling like we're getting a "special" deal that makes at least me feel good, like finding gas for $2.99 when all the other stations in my area are charging $3.22. I know I'm only going to save $2.10 on a 10 gallon fill, but I feel a little bit better about it.

Pick3 allows you to choose any three numbers similar to Tmobile's FAV5. It includes incoming/outgoing to any three numbers lan line or cell. Sprint to Home only allows 1 number and is only a lan line.

What matters most is if the given number is a frequently called number, outgoing or incoming, regardless of whether it is a landline, a mobile line, your home or others' regardless of the distance. Takes effect beginning of next billing cycle, not immediately, unfortunately. Hope this clears it up...

Hello Sprint Users,
I am new to Sprint from Verizon and I gotta say some old sayings just aren't true. The grass is definitely greener on the other side.
I requested 5pm nights and weekends, free incoming and free phone as modem to be added to my account. Based on the emailed response I am wondering if 5pm N&W can still be added since ensemble? and if it can could anyone tell me what the code might be?
Regarding the phone as modem I was told it is now only available on 2 phones the Mogul and HTC pro is that true? (PAM1) will no work according to the rep who tried to add it? Is it true that it can only be added to the 2 phones? If not again could I have the code please?
I am finding that the answers you get vary greatly depending on the knowledge and willingness of the rep that you are asking.
I asked for 3 things: 1.) 5pm n&w 2.) free incoming calls and 3.) free phone as modem
Here is the reply I recieved:
I do not have the ability to add nights and weekends beginning at 5pm,
personally I've never heard of that. Free phone as a modem only works with 2
types of phones the mogul and HTC pro, unless you have one of those phones you will not be able to receive free phone as modem.
Free incoming plans are not offered anymore, all the plans we have available can be found on Sprint.com.
I found it hard to believe she had never heard of 5pm n&w's or that the free phone as modem feature is exclusive to those 2 phones. Is the free incoming feature gone too?
Thanks for all the help and thanks to SU for an incredible resource / community

Hello,
Welcome to Sprint and SU.
As far as 5 PM nights, this is something that is almost entirely done through the retention dept. I did find someone who knew about it and said it could be added PER LINE through e-chat, but I think she was like picking a needle out of a hay stack. It's very likely that the code doesnt exit, or if it does, the system wont let it be added.
As far as free incoming, Sprint had both. They had a couple of years ago a free incoming PLAN. They also used to have a free incoming "add-on" (much like making your nights earlier, or free text messages). Most reps dont know the add-on existed, and thought you were talking about the plan. This feature is extremely hard to get. There was also a feature called "First Incoming Minute Free". This was also an add-on and not the free incoming plan. It is hard to get this, but easier than the unlimited incoming.
I cannot speak about PAM, because I dont have experience with it.

leave it alone & be happy with what you got. If I were Sprint I'd flag your account.
Pardon my confusion but what exactly occurs when one's account is "flagged?" Based upon your signature:
$60-2200 AT (1000 ADDITIONAL shared bonus minutes)/ FREE AIRAVE & SERVICE/ UL Text/ Free Pick 3/ UL Incoming/ 5PM Nights/ Free PV/ Free roaming= $100 As far as we're concerned we have our own Simply Everything Shared Plan
you have a rather sweet deal, relatively speaking. Has your account been "flagged?" If so, what was the result?

My secret...?
Don't ever call Sprint.
Edit:I went a full 3 years without talking to them. Phone upgrades don't require you to call them either.
First, my account has never been flagged. I am a loyal Sprint customer of 10 years. Secondly, from what I've read here, a flagged account means either A) Your account is sent for review, and possibly items are removed or B) Your account is noted that you're "fishing" for special features, or trying to get special deals. Future reps see this and are extremely hesitant to off you ANYTHING. Either way, it's bad news. It's best to fly under the radar. :tu:
Call it SU paranoia, either real or not, I hardly ever call Sprint.

But, if you never call sprint, how did you wind up with such a great plan?
:)
I've also been with them for 10 years, and my plan is very plain, (although I did add 1 sero line.), so I am going to try something new and call them... although I find myself dreading it. I don't think I've called them even 10 times in 10 years.... :icon_smil But I am missing out on some great offers this way.
Does anyone get their TEP for free? Do I need a data plan (which?) in order to avoid a charge per KB when I send a picture to another cell phone? Is Airave used for bad reception in your home, or is it used for some type of data service? I have been using "search" but missing specific answers, and I am looking for recent information, quickly. Thanks for all your help!

1- I have heard of TEP for free but not seen it in some time. It was very rare, if at all. But, IMO I would say it's hard because what would be the point? It's cheap anyway and if you carry a high end phone, it's kinda a must, again, IMO.
2- Yes, some sort of data plan would be needed or there is a picture mail only option. If that is all you are looking for, you can add that and avoid charges. That option is only $5.
3- As I understand it, Airave is for those you have poor reception in their homes.

You should just get 2 Everything Plus plans. They're $60 a piece, but they include 500 minutes, BIS or powervision, unlimited texts, and all the other good standard features.
On another note, you only need the $30 BIS, the CSR was BSing you.

Being charged for the picture would have been right, I would think, since you have to actual data over the network. Nicely done to parlay that into free data however.

I'm not trying to argue, but I don't agree with this. With my Katana II, I wasn't charged data when I sent or received a picturemail message. It connected to data services to send/receive, same as my Centro does, but I didn't get charged for it.
I wasn't actually looking for free data, I just didn't want to get charged for sending/receiving Picturemail. The rep who I spoke to just added the code. I was just expecting her to say to call when I get my bill, and they'll credit me.
Oh, and no, I don't believe it includes Sprint Navigation. I have used Google Maps with the my location feature, and the traffice updates, and I'm not getting charged for that. I have tried Sprint Navigation though because aside from Google Maps, I have a Garmin, so I don't see the need to use other navigation.

I have been told many times, that they no longer give free bonus minutes (like the ones I have). It depends on if the rep set it up to expire or not... :td: Worst case scenario, I am assuming they will expire either 12 or 24 months from when they were added. Then I'll be brought back down to the base plan.

I'm new here. We have been Sprint customers 15yrs. We have 5 lines on a business plan with a 10% discount. We renewed 2 lines 4 months ago and I finally got the $70 per line credit after several phone calls. My husband wanted to go else where since it took calling and telling them he wanted to switch cell phone provides to finally get it. I ask for a discount more than 10 % and was told there are none since we are and independent and no affiliated with anyone. I ask about a loyalty discount and was told they don't do that any more. I talked to 4 people each time asking for a higher up and got nowhere. I have 2 phones that are out of contract, one line up in May and the 2 that we renewed in July for 2 years . I was nice and never raised my voice and just kept asking if there was anything they could do to help me. I wanted to switch plans and reup the 2 that were out of contract to Instincts and change plans but needed to keep the bill about the same.I was finally sent to retention and all I got was mobile to home, one number for each phone. She said she was sorry but that was all she could do. I ask if I could thing about it and get back with her. She gave me til 3pm the next day or the offer would be gone. She told me that the offer was good if I redid contract with new plan. She called me and the final offer was to renew at least one line and she would give me the instinct free along with the mobile to home. I tried for 2 Instincts and was told no.I took it since I didn't want to switch. They have the best plan and coverage for us and our travels. Just my experience with them.
I have been a nextel customer for 4years,I just switched to sprint about two weeks ago,I was being charged for picture mail even though its included in my plan no one told me that i would be charged for data usage :irked:so after spending 8 hours on the phone with Cs they gave me sprint power vison for $5/m:) it would be nice to have pick 3 or nights and weekend starting @5/6 for free

Hello all,
I am looking for new line items/coupons to ask for with the retentions team. I currently have two lines that are out of contract plus a billing dispute that that is at Sprints fualt that will all aid in offering me leverage when talking to them.

I currently have a family 1400 minute plan w. MVP 25% (net $103.00-ish)
Line 1 Touch Pro -- Free nights @ 6PM, Free & unlimited txt/Pic/data, w/200 minutes for $5.00, $7 TEP
Line 2 Diamond -- Free nights @ 6PM, free & unlimited txt/Pic/data, w/200 bunus minutes
Line 3 Treo755 -- Free nights @ 6PM, free & unlimited txt/Pic/data
Line 4 SPC3200 -- Free nights @ 6PM, free & unlimited txt/Pic/data
---------------------------------------------------------------
I want more minutes, and after reading this site, I just learned of "Pick 3"... Thank you all for that. However, anyone have a better plan than this, and/or, have advice to allow for more minutes? Ive been told that a family 2100 minute plan will remove my 200 bonus and 200 additional for $5.
Thank you.

I don't think they'll give you a better plan. 4 lines @ ~$100 after taxes and discounts is pretty good, especially since you have texts, data, etc. I would think that the best you could do is pick 3 or bonus minutes. It'll be hard to get both.

YAY... Its official... I have pick a three on all lines as of now... Plus... They were able to up my $89.00 1400 minute family to a base of $109.00 2100 minute plan. Last time I called they threatened to remove my bunus 200 minutes, this time, the rep just converted my account with no removal of bunus minutes, plus pick a three for all lines. YAY. YAY. YAY.
Wow... that is like 2500 minutes total for a $110-ish on 4 lines.

Hi everyone, I've been a lurker for a few months now and figured I would join up to add my input. :wavey:
I just signed on for another 2 year contract. I've been with Sprint since 1999-2000.
This is how my phone call went. I called via *2. Got right through to the Rententions Depart via the "I want to cancel option."
A women answers the phone. She was really really nice. I tell her right off the bat that I have been out of a contract since Sept. I didn't say I was cancelling or anything crazy. I just explained that I am looking at my options. I tell her I am interested in the Blackberry Curve with the $69.99 SEP plan. I mention the $70 credit, Pick 3 and the $150 off the phone to make it $99 for the Curve. She tells me I can only get 1 of the 3 I mentioned, Not all of them.
I tell her I would like to apply the $70 credit first then get the phone. She puts me on hold and tells me she will have her boss do the $70 credit and she will put me in for the phone but I will have to mail the rebate in. I tell her I've never had to mail a rebate before. (which is true) She puts me on hold again. She comes back and says she will put a credit in for the $100 mail in rebate on my bill so I don't have to mail anything in.
Then she asks me what my 3 numbers I want added for my pick 3. So far so good. It gets better. So I give her my 3 numbers. Then I ask her if I will have to pay to activate the phone. She tells me I do. I tell her i've never paid to activate a new phone when I sign for 2 years. She puts me on hold yet again. She comes back and said I will credit you the $18 bucks.
Then I go and ask her about why my work discount went from 25% a month to 15% when my contract ran out in Sept? Also I was getting my anytime minutes at 6pm for free and that went away when my contract ran out. She looks into it and says Sprint made a mistake and I will get my 25% discount starting with my next bill. I am pretty happy with how things played out.
For those who didn't read my whole post. A summary:
$69.99 450 SEP, Pick 3, Blackberry Curve $99, 25% Work Discount. So my bill should be $53 before taxes.
My plan before changing was 500 anytime minutes, 6pm nights and 500 free text for the month for $50. I didn't have anything else as far as vision etc on my old plan.
I think I did alright :headbang2
I asked about Premier accounts but she didn't know much about it. I would be interested in learning more about how I can get this.
I think this post is long enough :haha:

Yeah just call up Sprint and say you have bad reception in your house. Worked for me, they sent two. One for the home and one for the office. Got the device fee waived and the monthly $4.99 (x2) fee waived but eventually had the service removed which was way harder than getting it added. Once those Airave devices are linked to your account they are there for good. Have to have an Airave specialist remove them from your account.
Airave's are great and all but sometimes the hand off between it and the cellular network would drop my calls and every now and again they would just not work correctly. I'll probably just go with a zBoost if I really need better coverage in the future. Seems like Sprint improved the towers in this area, probably because of many complaints.

What does SOC mean? :frustrate
Its simply the code that sprint uses to add a feature.
The code posted simply says to give INC (incoming) 5 ($5) UNL (unlimited) so unlimited incoming for $5. I believe the code was actually for puerto rico accounts originally and tweaked by reps to add it for other accounts.

But all the reps have found it but they all say it's expired. I will let you know if I am able to add it. It's a no go so far though :(

You guys can save yourself from time if you are concerned about notes by telling the rep you just have a general question. when they ask for your account info.
This way you can ask them if they know about free incoming, FIMF, Pick 3, etc etc.
Since you didn't give them your account information, they have no way of notating your account.

Is the only way to get Pick Three through retentions? I just renewed my contract about 2 weeks ago. Brought my boyfriend over from Verizon and got a family share plan. I tried chat twice today and both reps have told me pick three is no longer available. One gave me an expiration date sometime in September of this year. Yes, you can only get "pick 3" through retentions. "Pick 3" works both ways, with incoming/outgoing calls like mobile to mobile. Retentions will help you, just call them up and tell them that you would like to have the unlimited calling to 3 numbers to any network feature added to your family plan. It worked for me without having to put up a fight. Good luck.

I called what I thought was the retentions direct line. Didn't work. Lady said Pick 3 is not available for her to add. Nice. She inquired about by "employee discount" which is a discount through my company. Not sure why it states "employee discount" on my bill. But whatever. Hopefully she didn't do anything about that. Why is it so hard to get Pick 3? And I'm curious how this feature came into exsistence? I've been a sprint customer since like 1999 and never heard about it other than on these internet boards. I'm afraid to push my luck and have my discount wiped out. Hmph. Why are the reps so inconsistent? Why is it the luck of the draw so to speak? It seems like they either lie to you, don't know the how or you get lucky. From what I'm reading anyways.

In the Pick 3 Thread this is talked about... but it was offered to people when they switched to the Ensemble billing system. Basically a "perk" for the inconvience of having to switch the info over and it took some time so while people called in there was some info that the CS reps didn't have available right at the time...
I called *2 from my phone... hit option 4 for "more options" and then the option to "disconnect service" and that put me to retentions and I just asked for it. It was added no problem. I only asked once, but I know some people called a few times...
Good luck!

bobbiem - is your contract up? Because I just renewed mine. So I can't really threaten to disconnect service.
I didn't notice a change in the billing system. I didn't have to switch any info over. Weird. I'm not going to push my luck right now. I want my discount to stay where it is!
I found the direct line to retentions over at howard forums.

She inquired about by "employee discount" which is a discount through my company. Not sure why it states "employee discount" on my bill. But whatever. Hopefully she didn't do anything about that.
this has happned to me twice...once on the phone and once during an ecare mail where they said i wasn't suppose to have the discount
the first time was back in 09/08 and the lady didnt do anything, but the ecare one is recentl....I hope she didnt remove it....i can't tell until my next bill in ~mid jan

hello everyone, just registered as a user but been reading on here for a few weeks.
Just got done reading the 16 pages of this post and looking for help.
Here's my story in short: I have been with sprint, under my dad's plan for the last 5 or 6 years. Been out of contract for probably over a year now. Looking to cancel my phone off of my dad's plan and start a new one with myself and my wife under a family plan.
Looking for the way to get the best deal. Will most likely go to best buy (unless that's a bad idea?) to get everything taken care of since they have the rant for free, and we'll be getting 2. We both need new phones, mine is ridiculous.
Haven't texted before, but want to get in to it, but would also like to get it for free if i can, along with anything else.
Should I call them up through *2 and tell them this and see what they can do when i start the new family plan?
Should i do a chat with them and see what they say?
Don't do anything and then start it and then call them up and have them check the records?
Basically just want the best method to get the best setup. Don't need a ton of monthly minutes to share, sprint to sprint (is that included now? i don't even know) and texting (should i leave this off at BB then call up to see what they can do?)
Thanks for any and all help.

Anyone have any idea how to get free pic mail/messaging? My friend just got power vision for 7.50 but pic mail wasn't part of it. Tried echat and ecare a couple of times and she was shot down on all attempts to add pic mail and was told its $5 a month.
I just got the pick3 today and I've had the picture mail free since 06' and I remember it was simple to get it added back then, but now its sort of difficult for my friend. Thanks in advance!

you could try retentions, they could be the only ones to meet your demands.

I got picmail free on my second line with vision for $5 after calling in...so calling in several times or trying e-chat works too!

Has anyone got the free incoming perk lately?

Call sprint, say you want to make a new plan for that line and that it will share a sub line under it, as long as you can get a fair plan.
Once the plan is established on the original account, goto a store and do a transfer of liability, making the account in your name and relieving your dad from paying a bill for it. You will probably have to talk to retentions about the plan your looking for, unless its a standard plan, and hope they are willing to do it for you.
If your successful, they can order your new phone and her phone and should have no problem matching BB's out the door price on the phones.

Quick question for everyone, what is the difference between these free add-ons?
"anytime" minutes.
"free" minutes.
"cellular bonus" minutes.
Different lines on my account have these different free add-ons, so i am just curious if there's a difference between them, particularly if some have expiration dates.
TIA!

Same feature different name, based on how the code was set up.
Some have expiration dates, some don't

Do you know which ones do have expiration dates?

Not of the top of my head.
I believe it's the cellular bonus minutes on mine that will expire in 2010.

Logged into my account to use e-chat, but it wouldn't let me. I see the "login to chat" words when my page is loading up and then it just disappears. Is this happening to anyone else?

Nope, I see it on firefox for a second, but it doesn't even pop up with ie and chrome. I think e-chat's just had enough of me.

I think eChat is closed for the day since it's New Year's Eve. I used it all morning. I don't think its had enough of you. In the last 2 days, I've been rejected more than 40 times for unlimited incoming. :frustrate
Believe it or not, I'm not that upset anymore. It's more of a challenge now. I'll do it at my convenience and hope I randomly get a rep one of these days that will have the balls to add it for me.
As of right now...everyone else says it's EXPIRED! :ohcrap:
