I currently use my phone mostly for just internet and occasionally texting, so my plan right now is F&F 200, Vision Plan, $5 Texting plan.
For at least the past year I have struggled to even make it over 100 minutes of talk time in a month. I have been out of contract since December 07 and have been thinking of using my phone rebate and getting either a Blackberry or the Instinct. In doing so I would have to change over to the Simply Everything Plan for $69.99. I currently play $55 and I don't even use 100 minutes and now I would get 450 with the plan. My question is, would it be fair to ask for a discount off the monthly payment since I barely use the phone to call people? I would be using it mostly for TV, Internet and Texting, surely $70 a month is just too much for that. Do you think they would give a discount to somehow bring it down to a more manageable $50 or so since I have been with them for probably over 5 years now?

you can chip away at the price with loyalty discounts. could you lay out your current account breakdown?

You need to be speaking to rentention to improve on anything. You ask for things like free sprint to sprint and earlier nights and weekends.

The tough part is you need data services and probably a blackberry plan.

Current Plan
F&F 200 - $29.99
Power Vision - $15
300 Texts - $5
Total + Taxes $55
The most anytime minutes I have used in a month since April is 81, which is why I feel $55 is already too much a month.

I want to switch over to Simply Everything in order to take advantage of unlimited texting, and unlimited TV as well as picking up either the Blackberry data plan or the requirement the Instinct has for a better plan.

Therefore I would be paying even more for minutes I will definitely not use.

By Simply Everything I meant the Everything plan, my bad.

I'd recommend cancelling your phone/plan and getting a TOL done for a SERO500.. so you'll get all the data and txt messaging you need... then renew your contract for 2 yrs and get yourself a pda type phone.

if thats not possible.. then negotiate.. retentions would not help you.. they would just say that u are getting the best plan.. lowest plan whatsoever.. but normal CS and ecare.. ask them directly what better can u do if u upgrade and renew the contract.. you should be looking at $70 credit on the account for renewing.. $150 rebate for new phone... data and messaging free.. u really dont need voice.. so asking for early nights, incoming is of no use.. ask a couple things and settle for what u want.. but ymmv with retentions.. goodluck
