I can't get a signal at work on this piece of crap to save my life!! My Q9c, Instinct, Touch, Rumor, Katana.....no problem. The ringer volume sucks. I looked a the Samsung M520 today, but after some research on this site it looks as if that phone is buggy as hell. I don't know what to do.

Hey I have a M520, hardly used, I guess you can still take yours back? (Your Curve) I just have the 520 as a backup but I like it and have never had any bugs in mine. BUT I LOVE MY CURVE.............

Check out the htc touch pro coming out around 10/15 to 10/19. Deal with the BB Curve for a little bit, you have up to 30 days to return it. That would be around the time the Touch Pro comes out....Tell Sprint your problems with the BB, tell them it sucks, and try to get a discount on the Pro because you are unsatisfied. That's what I would do!

Maybe you should try another curve? Maybe you got a bad one???

swapping the thing out won't help you. i am stuck with on after selling my 8830 thinking it was an upgrade. the signal is horrible for me too. the battery life suffers as a result of the weak signal. if you can, return and think about a 8830 if you like the BB's. It has a stronger signal for some reason...................

There is something wrong with your curve...curves are not buggy as hell so I dont know what you read here to say they are- They are actaully known for being stable. As for signal any phone that gets signal and has the ability to take calls in my bedroom has a stronger signal...which my curve has...

I definately wouldnt recommend a wm device to someone who says a curve is buggy....

Ditto.

Take it from someone who came from a Mogul to a Curve. Maybe you did get a bad one, also make sure your not running too many programs.

Oh I thought they were talking about the Samsung M520 being buggy, but I agree, don't downgrade to Windows ;) I would try another BB, it may just be a bad unit which happens with any phone from time-to-time.

I mean the Samsung is buggy. The M520 thread is full of people *****ing about it. My Curve has been a rock solid performer.....but I can't get a signal.

Okay it was early so I clearly read it wrong..sorry OP!!!Maybe I should have my bagel and oj BEFORE logging on to SU. Reading is fundamental!!!!!!

Dont leave your curve go back to the store and exchange it....Also have the store manager note on your account that your first curve was defective incase you end up still not getting a signal with new one or just dont like it and want to exchange again for something else.....Good luck.

the m520 isn't buggy so much as it just doesn't do very much. if all you wanna do is make calls, text and maybe snap a picture of your butt once in a while, it's an ok phone.

also, it gets disturbingly hot.

Yeah I agree, it is more then likely your device. You probably got a bad one out of the batch. I have had several phones and haven't had any problems with mine. I tell you it is hard for me to get a signal in the grocery store with any phone but I do get atleast 1 bar in it till IO get further in the back.....lol

you must have a faulty unit. thats why i got me a blackberry. these phones have to have the best reviews out there. every forum i go to or anywhere on the internet you read what great piece of devices they are. in fact ill say this has to be the best cell phone i have ever owned. i will only trade my blackberry for another blackberry device.

My treo 700p had just as good..if not slightly better reception than the curve..,maybe it has to do with the external antenna..but who knows

I just moved up from the Katana to the BB Curve (actually times 3). I can say I am likely a BlackBerry (CrackBerry) user for Life now  and absolutely LOVE the phone.

Several rooms of my house are in low/no signal areas. The Katana phones would constantly go in and out of service - but with my new BB Curves, the signal stays pretty much constant. Low, but never-the-less, maintains the low signal w/out drops. This was a pretty big concern for me prior to converting to BB, but I'm happy to report that it's working out fine.

My primary negative that I find with the BB Curve (have 3 so I assume all) is that the calls seem base-ee and a bit muffled (incoming). There are some settings that allow treble enhancements and this has helped - but the calls are still towards the base-ee spectrum.

I highly recommend trying another BB Curve - as my experience is the signal retention is actually better on the Curve than Katana.

Got the M520 yesterday. Signal strength is 100 times better then the Curve was. Also the ringtones and earpiece volume are ALOT louder. I like this Samsung but the battery life suuuuucks!!! On it's first full charge it went from full power to dead battery in a matter of HOURS! Soooo....if I can't find a better battery I'm going back to the Curve. I have until Oct. 4th to swap phones back and forth.

I don't know. I had the touch and have the Instinct. Don't really like either of them.

i also think there was something wrong with your initial Curve. theres a few areas i never get service at with other phones... yet my curve always gets a signal(with working internet as well) in those same areas that never worked before. ive had just about every sprint phone out there and the curve is, by far, the best phone ive ever used.

i was really looking forward to the diamond.. i have one.. but the curve is still my main phone. maybe the touch pro will change my mind... but probably not. i say bring on the javelin! i wanna stick with BB's from here on out.

Got another Curve last night. That M520 had great signal strength but it felt cheap and the battery was crap. I don't know how to explain it, but this new Curve feels different. It's "tighter". The trackball isn't as loose and jerky as the last one. The ringtones are still too quiet for me, but the display is brighter. Signal strength will be determined Thursday night when I go back to work. I'm glad to have the Curve back actually. We'll see how this one performs.

have you went into the audio profile and set the phone volume setting to 'high'? this is seperate from you turning the volume all the way up with the volume buttons on the right side of the phone.

not mine...my mexico one is squeeky...and just generally does not feel 'sturdy'

the one from canada is a dream

RIM's way of cheapening its product

I also noticed that the one made in mexico had a battery made in china...while the canadian made curve's battery was made in Japan

I'll take a japanese made battery over a chinese one any day

Oh yeah. But it still isn't loud enough. Nothing like my old Q9c or even that
M520. Those ringers were LOUD! I downloaded a few last night that seem to sound alot better on my Curve. I'm using the "Tony Soprano" ringer now. :D
