Still called "PAM" here (http://search.sprint.com/inquiraapp/ui.jsp?ui_mode=question&charset=iso-8859-1&language=en-US&user.status=customer&user.site=CHP&question_box=sprint+power+vision+pack&x=0&y=0).

Greetings,
(opps... timed out before finishing the message)

Greetings,

I signed up for the 'unlimited phone as a modem' plan for the special price of $39.99. I'm a longtime PAM user (well, over a year anyway) and have learned that with Sprint, one needs to keep a close eye on the words they use on your bill.

Case in point:

May 07 bill: "Power Vision Attachable Plan"
Sep 08 bill: "Sprint PowerVision Unlimited & PAM Plan - Sprint PowerVision Unlimited & Phone As Modem Plan"

When I look at my plan options online, at first it says I have: "Sprint PowerVision UNL PAM Pln $39.99"

Which when clicked on does not mention ANYTHING about PAM and actually has a disclaimer saying you are not allowed to.

When I return back to the "phone and plan landing page" suddenly my PAM addon has changed to "Sprint Vision UNL Plan $39.99"

I guess I made the mistake of wanting to upgrade my phone again. I'd selected one of them newfangled Palm 800w's and when the Sprint store was unable to give me the full upgrade discount, I ended up calling customer support and ordering it from them.

I was told by the representitives in the store and the one on the phone that my "Sprint Power Pack 450" and PAM plan was compatible with the new phone an all that would happen is a ESID swap when I got the new phone.

(forgetting for the moment that their website will not allow me to upgrade to anything but a very stupid IE: non-smart phone without changing plans)

Just for kicks I started checking the Sprint website and it appears that no matter WHAT phone or plan I choose, PAM is not an additional option!

I tried as a 'new customer' as well as attempting upgrades. Can't find it anywhere.

Should I be VERY carefull about activating my new phone when it arrives?

Mark.

It's normal for it to quote un-quote disappear in the description addons. I have a Blackberry Plan with PAM and when I first click on the addons it appears as Sprint Blackberry Vision and if I click on it and then go back to addons it appears as Sprint Unlimited Vision pack. Neither of which when clicked say anything about blackberry or PAM but trust me, it is. In your case you have that plan and it's correct. Sprint didn't get rid of PAM or re-name it. It's just how it appears in the system to you. You have to make sure your phone supports PAM and then just go download the sprint connection manager. I've been a long time PAM user (4+ years). It's such a great feature but it's sad that they started a 5 gig cap which will hopefully be removed once they can handle it's users!

I've rarely if ever used the Sprint 'connection manager' program. My 8400 supports the DUN profile so I normally tether via Bluetooth. I'll try bluetooth 1st with the new 800w followed by loading WMaccesspoint software on it and finally USB.

Yea... everyone seems to have a cap now-a-days. Sprint WAS the standout because there was none. So much for that.

I cringe when Sprint starts redefining and renaming things. Each time we loose out. While they seem to be able to hand out lots of freebies, the real problem with their customer service is their redefining of services which leaves the consumer with a "bait and switch" feeling.

Even their 'simply everything' has disclaimers so when they come out with new products, they can charge extra for it I presume.
