Hey guys whats going on. First time post. I just have a quick question, i'll make it short. I worked at RS for less than a year and luckily got the 3rd party employee plan; Yes it is amazing i know lol, my problem is, i got transferred to another district and while in the process of transferring i got into an argument with the DM and never actually started in the new district. I guess i quit without really telling the new store that i quit. Anyways, i haven't worked at RS for over a year now, but still have my employee plan.

My problem is that my Sanyo M1 is on the verge of going. Periodically have way to many problems with it, BTW it was a great phone and has handled and bounced back from everything such as dropping it, water, and yes even beer lol. Does any one have any tips or any recommendations on what i should do. I am obviously not going to call them up and tell them i don't work there anymore, don't want to loose the plan, but i really NEED to do an ESN swap. I guess the account is locked so sprint stores cant even touch them. I don't believe i can change it out online with the ESN swapper either. It's such an easy 5 minute job, just need some help possibly doing it. If you call up sprint do they ask for verification of where you still work and all that?

Wirelessly posted (Treo 755p: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/Palm-D060; Blazer/4.5) 16;320x320)

Generally any plan changes have to go through the plan administrator who obviously won't help you. You have 2 choices, stick with a plan you no longer deserve and tough it out with your current phone or call Sprint and come clean that you no longer work at RS and get on a regular plan.

You've had the plan for way longer than you should have but Sprint will not come after for that. Be grateful you've had it this long and move on.

I thought a ESN SWAPP doesnt require a plan change

He didn't say anything about changing plans he asked about ESN SWAP which I thought swapping phones doesn't even required a plan change unless its a PDA.

I hope some one is able to actually answer your question good luck.

Just buy a new phone and do an ESN swap on your sprint.com account. 3rd party accounts dont qualify for upgrade prices or anything so you are supposed to pay full retail price anyway.

Call up Sprint or try to register at Sprint.com and see if it works. But call thethem up first and if you are able to get through the system then go ahead and do an ESN swap. ;]

well i was looking to get a PDA phone as my next phone, but with this plan it doesnt really matter what i get as long as i keep my plan. I'm not looking to change it nothing. Just an ESN swap. Do i have to call up the customer service that deals with 3rd party plans? Or can i talk to a regular rep? Does anybody remember if they ask any questions about your employer?

just do the ESN swap online. you wont have any problems doing it. as for your other question, no they don't ask for verification when you call CS.

Ya obviously that would be the easiest and best solution if i could just do it online, but maybe i'm mistaken but i believe last year when i tried to do it, it wouldn't let me. I bought the HTC touch and tried, and it wouldnt let me, and the live help couldn't work it either, she just said call up and try. Is our accounts locked out from the esn swap online? Has anyone ever tried it? Also, if i call them up should i talk to regular CS or the 3rd party CS? If i do do the esn swap over the phone is there really any way that my sprint rep is going to get notified or contacted?

Maybe the Touch you bought was somehow blacklisted and thats why it wouldnt let you activate it?

If you NEED a new phone and the old one is toast, hope to get to stay on the same plan but be ready to choose a currently available plan to stick with sprint. Or, take your business to another carrier for equilly high or higher pricing.

What does blacklisted mean? How could it/would it be blacklisted. I mean obviously i can't keep this plan forever, but for how good it is, i'm damn sure going to try. I actually bought the touch brand new from radio shack before i had to return it cause the line esn changer didn't work. BTW do they charge these days to do an ESN swap? both online and phone?

A phone can get blackblisted if it reported lost/stolen. If you bought the touch then you should be able to do an ESN swap on. And ESN swaps are free through the phone & online.

Correct. Get any of the WM phones. But I would suggest one with a touch screen.

I couldn't just go out and buy an instinct and try to do an ESN swap on that right? It needs a special plan i assume. I am interested in the HTC touch pro coming out next month. Hey quick questions guys, i was on the sprint.com and under my plan it says Free and Clear 3000. I am assuming the free and clear plan includes free roaming, correct? Because before Sprint switched plans over to the somewhat newer plans i had to pay an additional $5 a month for roaming. Now that its free and clear i'm still paying 5 bucks a month for roaming, but now i think, isn't the free and clear include roaming?

the Instinct can't be used on 3rd party plans. normal consumer F&C plans include roaming but 3rd party employee plans do not include roaming.

Hey, I have an old 3rd party plan that used to be my mother in laws. She worked at a retail clothing store that at one time offered Sprint telephones. She had a phone and it broke about 3 years ago. She was going to tank the plan and go with another provider. She was getting 750 min. per month and 50 text messages. Not really that good, but was only paying 15.00 per month! I told her not to cancel the contract (the retailer she worked for quit selling telephones over 7 years ago!) and let me take it over. I bought a new LG phone on eBay for $100.00, called sprint and they transferred the ESN over the telephone with no cost or problems. That was two + years ago. Last week I called sprint and asked about upgrading the crap LG 225 I had. They stated I could and I could also keep the same 3rd party plan rate!! I got a HTC touch for $99.00 after rebates. I asked for unlimited texting and they told me 14.99 at first, so I told them no thanks. I got the telephone last week and called sprint to check on th :tu:unlimited text and the price went up to $20.00 for some reason. I was told I to contact employee accts and have the telephone turned on. I called employee accounts, turned the phone on and asked again about unlimited text. The guy I talked to was SUPERB! He gave me unlimited text for $7.00 per month and turned on the new Touch. The next thing I am doing is switching my touch to my other SERO plan for unlimited data... Sprint will take care of you. Don't worry!!!

You should check Sprint about the free roaming. I called sprint about a week ago on an account that is Free and Clear 500, and they told me that free and clear plans do not have free roaming. Call sprint and ask if your specific plan has roaming. If not, it can be easily rectified by an email to ecare asking for free roaming to be added to the plan.

oh... and no one will ask you to confirm employment after you already have the employee discount. My friend used to work at E&Y and got an employee discount with sprint. He has no been with E&Y for over 6 year now and had no problem getting new phones and negotiating new plans.

lemme tell you a secret...ive been on the free and clear 3000 for 20$ for about 10 years now with free employee power vision (unlimited text, tv, nav, internet, 50$ download credit) ect. and its been about 7 years since employed through sprint. Ive recieved an upgrade discount once, purchased a samsung i500 waaaayy back in the day and just keep getting new pda phones every year or so through insurance. Just got the touch pro.... I think they converted my account to a consumer account and left all the freebies on there. If you dont say anything about your lack of employment, they wont ask.
