Casual EVDO

What is casual EVDO? I supposedly have it included in my plan but I'm not sure what it is. Is this used when sending picture messages? The EVDO icon blinks when I'm sending pictures.

Pretty much anything your phone does that is permitted. Surf, picture, MMS, data access for apps included and or subscribed for (TV, Radio, Navigation) and such. The only thing not covered is tethering.

Casual EVDO means that you do not have a data plan active on your phone, but you can use the internet features. With the Casual EVDO, you will be charged .03 per KB that you transfer, so it can get pretty expensive, especially if you're sending and receiving pics, browsing the web, and browsing/downloading music. If you use it a lot, I would definitely suggest adding one of the vision plans onto your phone.

Casual EVDO *usage* means you don't have a data plan.

However Casual EVDO as a plan option doesn't necessarily mean you don't have a data plan. It just means you have pay-per-KB as a fallback if you have no other data plan. Now if Casual EVDO is the only data option that exists on your plan, then you really are paying per KB.

However, many times plans are setup up by default with the Casual EVDO option and when you add a data plan like Power Vision, the Casual EVDO option is not removed, so you need to look through all the options on your plan to see if anything overrides Casual EVDO. Sometimes these will be separate data options and sometimes they will be part of the base plan.
