Remember, Victoria is probabl in India and understands little of what you are saying. If tech support cant help you with w WM 6.1 update, online chat certainly can't.

As far as the $10 vision plan, you should call sprint directly and ask to add it, linking the rep to it if necessary. If you are using AIM and sprint sends you a text to let you know you have gotten an IM, then that would use text messages, not messages sent and recieved while actually on the data connection.

It's always been my understanding that AOL IM's count as text messages. If you don't want to be charged for them, get one of the add on 3rd party IM clients.

the key word in that whole chat is VISION! VISION services are 10.00, you have a touch and require power vision, and im's are billed as texts, because of the notification process, so actually victoria (from charlotte) they do 90% of the webchats was absolutely correct, however if you are looking for the windows 6.1 update try the htc website, they were hosting it, that is where i got my mogul upgrade from.

1st thing i noticed was the link posted was for business solutions - so my guess would be business accounts can get that 10.00 pcs vision access pack ( couldnt tell from your chat text if you are a business account or not )

i am not sure how AIM works - but for yahoo messenger i just log onto my vision and go to yahoo.com and access instant messenger - and i am not charged text messages for chatting - maybe AIM doesnt offer a way to log in from the web directly though, am not sure on that

They have the same double standard with pic mail - you can get picmail for 5.00 but it doesnt include vision access, which you have to use to view the pics -

what does surprise me is in this generation of cell phones that someone somewhere hasnt stepped in to regulate the service providers - Just like MaBell was at one time - cell providers are raking customers over the coals daily -

i did hear recently that some government person wants to do something about early term fees - so maybe regulation is in the future and can put an end to the ridiculous nickle&dimeing that goes on

I have the touch too and if you use the included aim client it uses sms to send/recieve ims

sorry to say this but looks like the rep was right =P too bad the included app isn't more clear about the charges/text use, it gives a warning but it was confusing to me too

to use purely data only download the aim client @ aim.com or get something like palringo

bottom line: sprint doesn't do anything like track how many im's you are sending via data through 3rd party apps, it isn't even possible since aim servers go through https anyways. if you are being charged for texts, your aim client uses text to send msgs
