I recently got the DLX and have an old grandfathered vision plan for $10 ... the representative never asked if I wanted to upgrade to power vision and online it shows that I am still only paying $10. Did I just get lucky ... I would assume the phone does not know the difference between the two and downloads at the faster speed.

That's a good question, but no doubt, lucky is certain. I just got my moto v950 (direct connect type of phone - nextel) activated on my sero ff 500, it really took some effort and patience.

sometimes I feel sorry for the cs reps, I'm guessing you got a very experienced one, congrats!

I upgraded from a Katana (vision) to Katana DLX(power vision) several months ago, and when I checked the connection speeds right after upgrading, and they were power vision speeds. My account still says vision.

If I'm not mistaken, even the power vision accounts say simply "vision". Maybe someone who's more in the know can comment?

I say that because my account, which has always been power vision (never had a vision phone on it), also says "vision".

Haven't checked my speeds but the 'network icon', the relatively new one, has the evdo type of speed indication I believe.

If you have a PV phone and are in an EVDO coverage area your phone will use EVDO. It will not matter that you have a vision plan. And to the OP, congrats on keeping your plan. Keep an eye on your bill for changes.
