Our Store got several on Friday...Yes it does look good. I wouldn't be surprised to see a launch of NDC on Sprint NATIONWIDE very soon!!

Is this phone qchat? Works on the EVDO Rev. A network or requires a sim-card like the Motorola Nextel phones?

Qchat, 2way works on EVDO Rev A network...No SIM at all.

Nice! Going to have to sell my LX400 and buy this babie. Haha. They need to take a damn WM phone with qchat/DC option! That thing would sell like crazy! I don't know what the hell Sprint is waiting for. They took long enough to have Sprint branded phones have the bleep (Direct Connect) and work with other Nextels.

Plus, the V950 uses the EVDO Rev.A network for when using it with a PAM option.

heard a Rumor that there is a BB with qchat in the works...no word on a WinMo phone...The reason it's taken so long is it is a HUGE undertaking to get 2 seperate networks with different frequencies and different technology to interconnect. The also wanted it to work like Nextel with a less than 1 second initial connect time, which qchat does. I'm hoping to get a Renegade as soon as they roll out NDC on Sprint Nationwide. I currently have an ic902 which I am really enjoying. I assume the Renegade is as good or better. The capabilities are very similar.

Yea I understand what you saying but since they now got the frequencies and technology to interconnect what the hall is taking so long to get a WM or a BB with the qchat/DC feature. They would make a killing with a device like that!

Yes, finally the Moto V950 is out. I have been waiting for this phone a loooonnnnnggggg time. I am thinking of upgrade my Samsung A640 phone to this one. This phone can have a option of extending the battery which is great. If someone bought this phone today. Can someone do a review or I can look to other sites to see the reviews. Oh they said this phone has Sprint Navigation but I do not want that. Can I disable the Sprint Navigation? I also don't do the DC (Direct Connect) because I am the only person on Sprint and non of my friends have Sprint. I just want this phone because the display is large and they have a HUGE screen which is good.

You don't need to activate the navigation unless you have it on your plan and also the Direct Connect, we bought one of the sanyo phones that have direct connect and we didn't activate that, the navigation is included in my plan and I love it is really nice, specially the live traffic alerts, it works, I can't wait to get my phone, I already order it last friday and they told me tomorrow I hope so :fingers::fingers::fingers::fingers:

Speaker is nice and clear, ringers nice and loud (except the DC chirp) yes it has an alarm. I did a very small review in review section check it out.

Just read your review, i'm trying to choose between the PRO700 and V950. I need a sturdy phone. Which of the two would you say prefer? Also I text rather frequently and was wondering if you could give keypad feel impressions? Thanks!

I posted a new thread, but wanted to hit you guys up as well.

I have a sero plan and tried to put this phone on my line. I was told I cannot do it on my plan and that I had to buy the new one with "always on EVDO". Is this bs or what? I have free unlimited EV-DO on my sero and they are telling me I cannot activate it without getting a new plan...

anyone else experience this and what did you do to get around/resolve it?

replyed in the other thread, but additionally, when I called to order this phone (v950) was told it could be activated on my sero, just not have the DC capabilities.

I have another phone I *may* find myself swapping esn sometimes online, which works very well if you have the same "kind" of phone. It sounds like with a phone with more or less capabilities it's gonna mean a call to CS, which could result in perpetual headaches... :frustrate

we'll see...

Motorola just added these pictures to it's site. They're a little difficult to download in the hi res so I uploaded them to a web page I have and am providing links here:

Quick note, they are very big files, some are over 2 megs. The high resolution allows you to zoom in and see some aspects of the phone those of us that haven't seen it in person, may not realize.

Appears to be completely "rubberized" all around, and the keypad looks rubberized also...

Lag really isnt bad at all., and thats coming from an m1 which has no lag.

Noly one problem I have had is when I try to delete multiple texts it power cycles. But it power cycles after a few seconds of the messages deleted sign shows up, stays on for a few secs, then recycles. Annoying but not a problem since it happens right there and i know it.

Other than that so far phone is great. Cam is great (even in lower light) ringers are loud. Sound in the speaker phone and ear piece is great. Havent synced it yet for bt with my car so dunno about that yet.
I did send my contacts over from my m1 to it with bt.

If you are coming from an M1, do you think the camera on the M1 is better? I would think so. I havnt seen a phone with a better camera than the M1. That auto focus makes pictures better than any phone Ive seen in my opinion. The seems a little wide to me. Anyone else?

I'M with you 100%, I always buy Sanyo, my last one M 1 and you're right about this phone, I love it, I still miss the Sanyo calendar & alarms is different but no big deal, but love the sounds, speakerphone of this one, by the way I have the Moto H710 bluetooth and today I use it and you can listen everything thru the bluetooth with the V950 even the gps and when you push the keys too, I was surprised cause this bluetooth is not stereo but I listen all the directions from the gps cool........

i looked at one yesterday when i was in the sprint store getting my contacts transferred over from my Q to my VE20... it's an alright looking phone, pretty much a ruggedized version of the VE20... lots of features and really sturdy feeling. if the mirrored external of the VE20 becomes too much for me to handle, i'll think about trading it in for this w/in the next 30 days

AsItLies

ccrooks, I just did exactly what you said. I liked the ve20 quite a bit, it's a great phone. But as you said, the mirror thing, I was afraid to touch the phone and constantly wiping off the finger prints. And, well, the hinge... you could hang a porch screen with that thing ;)

No, seriously, the ve20 has a lot of great features. And it's just a normal power vision phone. I was easily able to make it work with my current plan. Now getting the v950 activated on a non DC plan, that wasn't easy. I did it through "chat", but even after saying, explicitly, over and over... "don't change my plan!!"

They changed the plan.

They intended to change it, add the phone, then change it back. I didn't know this until the person said... "okay I'm now changing you plan back"

Then they said "you will need to go to the everything plan" ...

It went on for quite awhile, but eventually it got worked out, or at least it appears to be okay. I'm still on my sero FF 500 according to the website.

But anyone wanting to go to a DC phone but not use the DC (not change plans), keep in mind it won't be easy, you'll need to be patient but persistent, and I think polite helps too. Most likely (definitely?), the person you deal with will not know how to do, and will have to escalate the problem, so for them it's not easy.

The v950? definitely like it. Looking for an additional battery and case now. It's a keeper for sure.

good to hear you got worked out.

what happened with mine was they actually put me on a SERO 1250 WITH DC included. So not only did I keep my plan but got DC for free.

I was helped by the EMT (Escalation management team) out of sacramento, california.

They were able to fix it and get me up and running in under an hour.

good luck to all...

p.s.- is there a way to change the home screen navigation pad shortcut list? It seems that the up down left right keys cannot assign your own shortcuts...

the manual doesnt explain how to do this... any ideaS?

I was ready to use my 30 day window for taking back the VE20 and getting the V950 today, but I saw reports on Howardforums for horrible battery life with the V950.
Can any of you guys with the V950 attest to battery life without DC activation?
I've been getting two solid days of standby with a couple hours talk on each day before the battery gets low. How does the V950 stand up? Its battery has more mAh, but there are many design factors in battery life.

I'd hate to trade a mirror screen that I can deal with (but not like) for a battery that needs recharged every day.

Thanks.

sixt7gt350, my experience so far is pretty much identical to the ve20. I'm not impressed but just read (where I bought an additional batt and stand alone charger), that the first time you charge a batt it should be for 24 hrs.

Then after 3 or 4 complete cycle of drain, charge... the batt should be at full capacity. That's why I always buy a stand alone charger. You don't have to tie up the phone due to the batts needs.

I don't think you'd find the batts any diff between the two.

Oh yeah, did I mention that the v950 is black? and that it doesn't look like a piece of jewelry? ;) sorry my bad ;) I really do mean it when I say the ve20 is a class phone, it's exceptional, well built and sturdy and I would bet it will be very reliable.

You just gotta go with what you can live with. Regards,

I just replaced my M1 (which I beat to death) with this phone. Pretty happy thus far except for 1 major frustration. Not being able to mute the phone while the flip is closed and the speaker is on. Since my primary function on this phone is talking that is really frustrating (I have a Mogul for all the MM stuff and haven't explored it too much yet.) Secondly (more of an annoyance) there is no way to activate voice command with the flip closed.

Other than that I've been happy as the phone is more comfortable to talk on than the M1 and the speaker is just as loud and coming from my beat to death M1 also the speaker seems to be a touch clear on this one. To a lesser degree the vibrate on this phone is way too weak and the ability to customize menus and buttons is weak compared to the M1.

If anyone finds a way to mute the thing with the flip closed.....that would save me a trip back to the store.

From playing with the V950 the other night, the software seemed mostly identical to the VE20. On my VE20, the left button of the three on the external screen turns mute on and off.

How many hours of standby (and approximate amount of talk time within) do you get before the low battery warning?

A silly mirrored screen I can live with. Poor battery life, buggy software, or poor reception I can't. (I much prefer the appearance of the V950, but don't want to get a deal-breaking shortcoming in the deal.)

AsItLies

I've only had it about 24 hrs :)

But after a few more days, I promise to report some ideas on the talk / stand by times.

Can say now that I've seen no indications of bugs or poor reception. Calls that I have made sound great, very very good in fact.

Opera mini flys like you wouldn't believe. No menu lag of any kind (I believe that impression was more reinforced when I turned off key sounds of any kind). And the speaker sound, music, anything like that sounds great. Basically because it has to function as an IDEN phone, which relys heavily on those abilities.

I can relate to your uncertainty. Just started a thread in the samsung forum, about why I'll never buy another one... I'm sure those folks are gonna luv me ;)

No these are becoming bigger and bigger decisions. I only have a sprint phone, no more land line. The freakin thing working is pretty dang important to me too.

For those of you getting this phone without changing plans, how are you doing it? Calling Sprint? Sprint store? Online?
I read that one of you got it activated on F&C plan and that is the same plan that I have.

I got the LG LX400 on my SERO plan. They have a different department that do the activation for these qchat/DC phones. I told the rep that my plan originally included free unlimited DC and he knew that and he went on and added the DC option to my plan and connected the phone for me. Also on these phones you can have your number as the DC number and if you do that your DC number would be ###*###*####. For example if your number is 012-345-6789 then your DC number would be: 012*345*6789.

I have been waiting for a Sprint Networked Phone with DC.. For so long but the sanyo pros i didnt even consider..

i need to vent about the purchasing process first..

So i got my V950 Yesterday from the store N. OKC. after going to the store right down the street from me they had a Mad display yet none in stock.. the N. Store showed 5 but they wouldn't call to get them to put hands on (bstrds)
so i get there and the Reception Person said they had NONE>> ***.. i waited for the manager and a girl i know from the S store brought one out and said..

now you know it wont activate on the sprint network its for Nextel and she was just told this buy here Lead..i said no its Qchat VOIP it Does NOT use the NEXTEL IDEN NETWORK AT ALL>> (you will notice there is NO metion of IDEN on the phone or box any where.. )

she knows im 90% right and she went ahead and sold and then activated it on my Free and clear Add a phone line with unlimited EVDO with NO problems whatsoever..
When i left i called *2 cancellations and had them add Unlimited DC to my line. they asked me if i wanted my number to be the DC number or have a different number.. (forget having another number to add to my B.card.. with same i can have a nextel DC logo and those users will know)
the one thing if you have your cell number as your DC it will not have the *
so it would be entered into the phone as 5551234567 not 555*123*4567
within the hour DC was working (i had to wait for a friend to get off work and DC me)
so no problems activating on a OLD plan and i have a Great plan Connection card as my Primary line and 3 add a phones..

V950 Rating first impressions..
First I HATED MOTOROLA till NOW.. (at least on there non iden phones)
I usto love the Sanyo's for call quality, durability, features in that order of importance..
after my 7400 that was the last of the Good Phones Even the M1 was sub par for sanyo standards. (camera was not worth the BRICK)
im currently coming from a HTC TOUCH..
love the Call-QC but the Durability sucked broke 3 in 30days.. all accidents..

first impressions F'ing-awesome looks great closed and from the Back.. on your belt.. (says Big Boys Phone u go away)

open it and UCK the top is the Motorola looks (top of flip) the keypad is nice.. lcd is NICE>.
Call QC is Great i would like it a bit louder..
sounds like the back metal plate acts as a woofer or mid range. Play with it an hold it or even take it off it changes the sound dramatically.

speaker phone is solid can hear them great.. i haven't called it yet but will soon

i wish it had a flashlight feature like sanyo IE hold down smart button (if key gaurd is off) WOW that vid camera light/flash is BRIGHT 4 LEDs.. BLINDING

Great Night shots with still or vid.. Flash and Night mode brightens it up nicely
i think they thought Workers could get a good pic to send back to boss of project or problem part with ample light.. Great JOB MOTO>> DEFINITE PLUS on the BRIGHT LED's

size its a bit thicker and heavier than my touch.. but i have literally tossed it 6 feet and no major scuffs and STILL WORKS>> and no creeks.. no bat door flying of. (there's an oring around the metal battery door.. i wana go talk in the rain)

reception is great. i have gone threw many drop out zones and thus far Not one drop.. and great signal. .on my touch i was always switching to roam to alltels network but this has higher bars than touch.. and that was great CQC

Yes i have driven around my city with this thing and will do other half tomorrow.

as far as lag goes ya its not super fast but not super slow.. and i think that plays into battery life. the faster it is the faster the Proc IE sanyos Big batteries..

ill post more info as i get more into the phone..

how does it compare to the sanyo 9000

If the MM9000 had bluetooth, I would not have upgraded from the 9000 to the VE20. I have a BT adapter, but it's a box that attaches to the headphone jack. -Not very convenient and only good for sound.

Feature for feature, the V950 (and same for the VE20) has a much nicer internal screen and is smaller in size. The V950 external screen is better. The VE20 external screen would be useful when putting on lipstick or eyeliner. (a crack my wife made when I complained about the mirror)

Battery life of the V950 is still an open question. The VE20 seems to be about the same or slightly less than the 9000.

Fry's Electronics has the cable for the V950.

I don't have a PN on the one I'm using handy. But the company that makes it is sort of an off-brand.

It's not Cellenet. But it's owned by Cellenet. I paid $15. 'Kind of pricey. And not retractable. 'Works fine though.

Zuro, just go to the sprint website, look for phone accessories and then look for the v950.

You should see what I'm referring to. They do have the extended battery cover.

As an aside... they also have the extended battery listed, but they say it is 1000 mah... that's what is strange, because the extended battery I believe is like 1750 mah. That's what seems to be a misprint.

Zuro that's the one that we have, the standard one (for us), it's 1100 mah.

Appreciate you posting that link, I thought the SNN5792 batt (bk70) was pretty straight forward spec wise, but I've found a 1000 mah and a 1030 mah, both labeled bk70. I also bought a stand alone charger when which now I'm not sure will charge the 1100 batt?

oh well live and learn.

This is the link to the extended 1750 batt I found, along with the extended cover on sprints site should work for the v950

i got my phone Fri, it was working fine, not inpressed with battery life. I have DC it was working and then Sat afternoon it stopped. I cannot connect to anyone with Nextel phone. Since Sat I have spoken with 3 techs and so far as of today I still do not have DC capabilities.

Im very frusterated, no DC and battery life is only 3-4 hrs. I come from i730 nextel maybe charged battery every 2 days or so, it was very strong battery life.

Be careful on this one. I upgraded from a Hybrid phone, and now I have little to no Dircect Connect coverage. Then the battery went dead in about 4 hours. Tech service said that the direct connect coverage only works in high speed broad band areas and the poor battery life could be from the phone searching for service. BE CAREFUL. I now have to carry a Nextel phone for direct connect and the V950 for phone calls.

You say your DC went out and you ended up hitting ##MSL# (what do you mean, did you use your keypad on your phone and pressed ##MSL# and then again using key pad on phone pressed ##debug#? when you did this the function was called restoring? Or did you do all this with the help of a TECH walking you through this?

Im interested so pls explain. I have had trouble with DC since Sat afternoon, techs can 't seem to solve the problem.
I got my sales agent working on it too. Today i went down and swapped phones and got me a new one, and DC doesn't work on it either so TECH and sales rep are working on it as we speak.

You guys are scaring me with all this talk of bugs and battery life.
Almost thinking I should keep the VE20 and overlook the mirror.

I told a guy at work about the V950. He turned in his new Samsung Upstage for it. He doesn't have DC or Vision. He is getting about 32 hours of standby. I love the ruggedness and appearance of the V950 and the slightly increased size over the VE20 makes it more comfortable to hold, but "me no likey problems."

I got the V950 a week today and the problem I have is sometimes go power cycle when I'm in the net or waiting to receive email but other than that not much, the battery last long enough for all the text messages, tv, email and gps that I use plus talking, and I don't have D/C. I just bought yesterday the portable power charger instead of waiting for the extended battery, lady on the sprint store and also Motorola suggest me that's better the portable charger than the ext. battery and I think is true.

I have not experienced either of these problems, my alarm is set for 4:30 am M-F and it goes off every morning (yes my phone is on charger)

I have noticed that they have not configured the NFL or Nascar mobile programs for this phone yet. Had the same "problem" when I first got my Pro 700 but after a couple of months it was available.

The only time mine has powercycled is when I deleted a lot of text messages at once (think Ronkh had this happen also) BUT it has only done this once, I can live with that. My battery lasts me through the day with a few calls, many texts lots of DC and a few pic mails so I am ok with that too.

This is what i sent Moto. for a firmware update.

Firmware Update Request.. A MUST>>
Ill give the item needed and a base of how to do it..

1.Flashlight..
while flip closed press and hold Smart Button
(with key guard deactivated either by main menu or by pressing smart button and volume)

2. use Leds as Indicator lights and have user programmable brightness and flash pattern,
menu option for led as indicators.
same as vibe pattern basically. but with intensity options.. (im sure the driver is adjustable. )

3. DC Volume needs to be set a bit higher when at max..

4. DC Time out Timer while waiting for response from other dc unit is way to short.. id like it to be adjustable in menu..

4. assign DC button available to be set to any thing we want.. like favorite button.. when not in DC use mode (current open call)(same as when its set for None, only works to ptt)

5. 3 play back forward have adjustable as favorite buttons (when key guard off)

6. calculator have center circle button and top lef soft button be the = im usto the center button and its a PITA to do the top left button..

7. not firmware but USE LI-PO batteries.. for standard and extended it will drop weight while improving talk time.

Thanks for considering these enhancements
I would also motion to include the following in the firmware update: When running an application and close the flip...enable the application to remain running. Currently when the flip is closed so does the running application. Very annoying. Any other phone (i.e. Sanyo MM-9000 amongst others), has had this feature enabled. I can understand there may be a valid reason for not including this, such as if you forget to close the application the battery may run down quickly; however maybe if the update this by perhaps if you press and hold the smart button when closing the flip, the app would stay running, thereby making it a conscious decision to close and keep the app running.

Ok I'm a texting nut and need a flip new phone with updating screen as well something that's tough.

This v950 appears mighty stellar but I'm a texting nut and had to ask how many texts messages does it hold in both in the sent and inbox?

Does anyone know what the resolution for the external screen on the V950 is? I know what the main screen is, but can't seem to find anything other than that it's 1.6 inches. I need to know the pixel size.

Thanks!

As far as I know, you can't save ringers to your MicroSD card. I had a Fusic that had a card as well. I believe the idea of why you can't is because the card is removable which would mean if the card wasn't in your phone, then any assigned ringers on that card can't be used when calls come in. Does that make sense? Hope it helps!

Yes it make sense and helps me , I'm going to try find a way to save the inf. in the computer cause I don't want to loose it. Sorry to ask what's the inf. that I can save in the card only pictures and real music. I heard this phone support real music ringers, that's the one you can download direct from the computer do you or someone else have any idea or try to do this download, thanks again.

If you have web access with your phone, the best way I get ringers and wallpapers loaded onto my phone is using Rumkin.com. You just upload whatever file you have on your computer you want on your phone and it gives you a "jump code" which is a code that you plug into the site on your phone and it automatically downloads it into the appropriate folder in your phone. The Rumkin site give pretty good instructions on how to do all this. Good luck!

Just recently bought a stand alone charger for the bk70 batteries, I didn't want to leave the phone plugged in for 12, let alone 24 hrs, which seems to be recommended by a number of places, when charging the batt for the first time.

Also bought a couple of cheapie bk70 batts at the same time, they were advertised as new, but less then 10 bucks? Well they don't look new that's for sure, but the contacts look pristine.

Well now I had a chance to charge one of them a long time. The first one I charged for 12 hrs. It's the one in the phone now. It's amazing how this older batt, doesn't look new, was cheap to buy, is doing! It's been on for about 35 hrs straight, numerous phone calls (mostly short calls, 5 to 10 mins), playing music now and again, surfing the web maybe 10 diff times, checking gmail pretty often. And the battery just a couple of hours ago went down to 2 bars. And it's holding there even after a 10 minute call.

Not certain yet, but it looks as though maybe 3 days of standby along with everyday usage is in the cards. But I'd say even at this point it's behaving better then the ori batt.

I'd attribute this to charging the battery, after it's been drained down, for so long. Wish I had the stand alone charger as soon as I got the phone, but will see how the ori works after it's 24 hr charge, which is done even though I was using the phone ;) woohooo!

I bought the stand alone charger after searching ebay for "ic502 wall charger". The Moto ic502 takes the bk70 battery. Be aware though it needs a male mini plug (while the v950 phone needs a male micro plug). Because I had a usb cable that would work, then I've just charged them usb style.

So far, battery life is definitely improved, so would have to recommend doing the initial charge of 12 or 24 hrs (and yes, that is even though the green light comes on after a couple of hours or so).

Try one of these, you can insert your microSD into this reader and then place the reader into the USB drive on your computer. This should be a lot easier than messing with a USB cable and software

There's no specific software needed, just the usb drivers and I think windows will install that for you automagically.

Once connected, just open the phone and you should have 3 options, one of them is to connect to the pc as a 'data connection' which gives you access to the SD card.

personally I much prefer to use the usb cable. I have it for DataPilot to back up the phonebook, to charge the phone, for my stand alone charger, to add music etc etc. It's very convenient and worth the few bucks imho.

Thanks guys for the inf. I guess I'm going for the micro card , I guess is more essy, cause the other way I have to get the cable and find the usb drivers, where I can get it. hope it let me copy everything in the phone, like the pictures, add. book, contacts, ringers, etc... I know we have the mobile sync. but wondering that could be transfer to the computer, can't remember if it says anything like that. I have a bluetooth dongle that I bought long time for my Sanyo M1 and my husband try that and the computer find the phone but the phone keeps searching and it says it won't find nothing, wondering if it's not compatible but doubt it, don't know what's going on with that dongle, cause I think it's easy with bluetooth too.

guys. READ THE WHOLE THREAD BEFORE POSTING>
i posted drivers etc few pages ago..
lazyness is Unacceptable.. *when others are here with good info..

you can plug your phone in forever and it wont harm the battery (well over a few months it will only because it wont have a chance to charge)

i dont know why there is so many myths about batteries especially Li-ion batteries..

plug it in.. when its Charged the phone will stop charging FACT>> NO IFS OR BUTS BOUT IT>>>
12 hours its done 8 hours ago..
when its done charging the phone uses the power from the cord instead of the batteries..

Li-ion batteries rather be used a little and charged.
a li-ion battery can handle about 3,000 25-30% charges and about 400 charges if charging a Dead Battery.. Ya some may have seen more than 400 but not really because over the life.. they had more small charges than big ones...

i have had some issues that I cannot tell if they are device specific or not, I have heard mixed responses.

I have had the following issues:

1. My external Mp3 buttons are not working with sprint music store.

2. my dc button is set to bring up dc contacts but it brings up the entire contact list.

3. cannot change alerts from repeating..meaning when i recieve a text or voice mail it continues to alert until i actually acknowledge it (gets annoying)
has anyone else experienced any of these issues?

Don't think this has been answered yet. I found how to change that setting last night. Menu-Settings-Messaging-New Message-Off

okay, on the battery life thing... kind of a pia for sure, my testing is just 'best I can do', and guesses are being made.

Just decided to try out Sprints Telenav. After charging the batt that came with the phone for many many hours (eliminating any chance of that being a factor), popped it in and turned on telenav.

After a very short period of time, say 15 mins, all seemed okay. Then used it to get to Mickey D's, knew the way of course but wanted to see how it handled it. Was a bit disappointing that Telnav didn't handle re routing very well, but no big. Worse though was that the batt went to 2 bars...

Decided to go back home and try the el cheapo battery (mfg day about 8 mo's prior to the one that came with the phone). Popped in this recently charged (also) batt, and decided to use bluetooth also.

Drove around for an hour with nav on and bluetooth on (using plantronics voyager 520). Used 3 different destinations during this hour. After arriving home, still with 3 bars, decided to make a call (lasted 10 mins)... no change, still 3 bars.

okay, executive summary, the battery that came with the phone seems to perform very badly! I'm really getting the impression it's defective or something.

Maybe if anyone else is experiencing anything like this, making a note of it here would be helpful. I have another, even older el cheapo battery to test at some point, and will report how that one seems to work.

Regards,

I use telenav every morning on my way to work, no because I don't know where I go, just for traffic, cause is really good in that when is accident or problems, already experience that and helps me a lot in re routing, it don't consume too much battery in mine so far using the telenav and also used it twice a day or more, maybe battery is not good like you said, I'm going to look for BK 70 here see how much I can find me one or in the flea market, but I got the portable charger that can charge your battery twice or more, I guess is better cause is like having two or more spare batteries.

Yeah I'm waiting on the Nascar Mobile myself. When I first got my Pro 700 it took a couple months before it was available for download. I hope it doesn't take that long for this phone but if it does so be it. It will come eventually.

On a side note I just ordered an extended battery for this bad boy.

I have a few more days left on my 30-day window for trading in the VE20 on the V950.

Most posts seem to confirm the original battery isn't worth crap and investment in the high-cap battery almost a necessity.

I love the appearance and ruggedness of the V950 over the VE20, but $30 more to start, plus even more bucks for a decent battery, make it not a very good value.

Who wants to help me decide?

Have no idea, since I have the phone only thing I experiment was the power cycle like everybody says but nothing like this, only thing I can think is I download some animated screensavers from this particular site: funformobile, don't know if anyone here use that site before, but that's the only different thing I did, normally what I use is DDN mobile and never have problems, anyway I erase everything that I download from that site just to test, see if it was that, just want to share and see if anyone have this particular problem or incident, wondering about update profile or software. .:confused::confused::confused:

I’ve had the V950 for five days and very satisfied with it. Coming from a Moto Q this is in no way a downgrade due to the Q’s “issues”.

One feature I really miss though is the sync with Outlook. The V950 is half way there with the Sprint Mobile Sync & Sprint Mobile Email Work I can sync my Outlook contacts & email.

So my question is why can’t I sync to my Outlook calendar as well, or am I missing something? If there is a way to accomplish this please let me know?

OK HELP!!! I had this issue come up and the retards at sprint told me because I was on the SERO DC plan... they could not disable my DC and that I would have to switch plans (fools).

thinking logically they should have a setting in ensable that allows them to temporarily disable DC service (much like they can add/remove text etc).

Any thoughts?

B.T.W.- they took me off my normal SERO plan and put me onto the SERO DC plan when I got this phone.

My original understanding was that they could have added the V950 to my SERO plan...a nd there was a plan add on to enable DC... can anyone verify/provide supporting information to this effect.

I have been dealing with EMT (escalation management team) and if i can get some corresponding 411 i can provide them to put me back on my SERO plan which they could then add the D.C. feature and remove it as i please.

Seems like this is fast becoming a problem for those of us that have this phone but don't want DC, or use it.

My understanding is that you first have to have DC on your account, then a selection will appear on the phones menu that says something like "enable DC". So can't you enable and disable it there?

Yes you can have this phone on a regular Sero plan, I do, but it was pretty tough getting it done. Did it through chat (didn't have a working phone, thnx to my sammy 510 not working at all). It took about 1 hr, no really, I still have the chat log.

I specifically told the person not to change my plan, they said "fine". But they couldn't put the phone on it. So without telling me they changed the plan to one they could put the phone on then tried to change it back. Didn't work. Then they tried to tell me to get a different plan, when I said no, they eventually talked to the right people (no idea who) that allowed them to create what appears to be my old plan with the v950 on it.

So if you have the sero plan with DC, there's is one good thing about that, if you wanted to do an esn swap with another (back up) phone, just get one with DC also. Then you *should* be able to go between ea phone with no problems.

If you *don't* do it that way, say you want to swap between a non DC phone and back to the v950 later, I think it's going to be a thing of being in contact with Sprint ea time!!

Remember this isn't really easy for the Reps, these are not common requests, probably a very small percentage of their customers do these kinds of things.

regards,

Great to hear... can you PM me your chat log possibly so i know how to phrase?

here is my deal...

I was on the SERO plan with a BB8830 and free BES (there is a high priority note on my account stating to provide BES at no cost).

I told them my plan is to switch between BB and V950.

The way they put the free BES on my plan was to change my sero plan to a sero voice only (disabled power vision) and then added the BES.

When I called in to have them add the v950 to my Sero, they said they couldn't (i think it had to do with it being voice only?? the guy mentioned something abotu always on EVDO connectivity for q-chat).

Basically the situation i am in now is that if I want to go between my bb and v950 i am going to have to have them do a plan change BACK to the old SERO, disable PV and enable BES... then If i wanted to put the v950 back on, id have to call in, have them put me on a SERO DC plan.

So many damn steps...

What you'd think they could do is this...

Put me back on my original SERO plan and leave PV enabled... then from that SERO plan they should be able to add a DC code enabling DC. Then if i wanted to put on my BB, they would disable/remove DC (or just leave it cause it's like 10 bucks and i don't mind leaving it on and never dealing with it), disable PV to make is a sero Voice only, and add the BES...

God im a complicated customer... BUT

I will say this... They must really love me.

I came in to the store last night, told the rep i wanted to switch out my V950 because it was having issues (within 30 day warranty)... she not only let me keep the original battery/back plate...but i asked if she had an extra usb data cable/car charger which she just gave me!!!

I love the way they treat me.

I have six lines (all individual plans) and have never missed a payment...

Ahhh...Sprint!! my fav.

one thing for sure, it is complicated for them. My experience says if you want to go this route, having to call and change back and forth, add subtract etc, continue to only call escalations.

someone else may very well do their best, but make a mess of things and then suddenly you find yourself disconnected... it happens.

good luck with it, hank

Taz, that's not a dumb question. Actually I've been a sprint customer for 10 years and only just found out about Sero plans.

Fortunately found out about them before they changed, and was able to take advantage of one. But like all phone plans, they faze out, and when that happens you are pretty much stuck with them the way they are, trying to change them means you risk someone messing it up and you can't get it back.

There are new Sero (Sprint employee recognition) plans, but they are quite a bit more expensive then the earlier sero plans. To get a Sero plan *usually* means a good payment record, a number of years with Sprint, etc. I'm no expert but have read a bit about this.

Do a google search on "Sprint Sero" and it will give you an opportunity to read a lot of other information.

okay, now just a minute, that link takes you to 5 reviews, 4 of which are glowing and the 5th is someone who appears to not know what they are buying in the first place... "hey you need rev.A for this!!" now if you did a little reading first you'd know that doh!

I'm not gonna get all religious or something here! This is a very good phone but it certainly has some negatives, battery life seems a bit weak but the jury is still out on that one.

I'd suggest reading this thread at least, and others on the v950, most seem to be pretty happy with the phone, that's a preponderance of the evidence ;)
Mixed would be like 50 50, it's not split.

Don't know is someone experience this but my V950 is going power cycle like more than 5 times a day, and if I want to see tv have to turn off and back on every single time, sometimes it doesn't work, this been happening last 2 or 3 days, I call and they told me that's strange and send back the phone instead or checking cause I'm still in the 30 days, and I'm waiting now for the new one and hoping is ok, I still have the idea that was when I download from a site some animated screen savers but not sure 100% , wondering if anyone have same situation, many power cycles thru the day:huh::huh::huh:

How difficult was it? Did you just talk to a reqular CS rep on the phone? I also have a "Free and Clear Family Plan". I have put off the purchase of this phone because I don't feel like going through a BIG hassle with Sprint.

For this same reason I almost passed on this phone. It was a hassle to hear over and over again it can't be added to my plan. I have the direct number to the tech that added it to my plan, pm me if you want the number. It toke about 15 minutes and I was on my way.

I just got this phone with a free and clear plan. It was not at all easy though (see http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1938318#post1938318 ). I got called back from sprint today (amazingly) and verified plan. The lady said i was switched from my free and clear plan to a powerpack plan. But the details and price were still the same (except I get free roaming now, but never did that anyway) and my Phone as a modem plan stayed the same.

So far I like the phone very much, but it seems to not ring when work calls for some reason (bout half the time), just goes to voicemail. The data speeds over bluetooth are great. I did a speed test and got about 1000kb downstream. The sanyo katana eclispe I tried before this was around 600kb. the phone itself plays youtube videos fairly well too which i was not expecting. I do seem to have applications freeze and lock up and had to reboot the phone several times to get things to work. But there is just something about this phone that makes me willing to put up with its quirks. I am hoping a firmware update will correct these things, but overall i think the phone is sprints best flip phone.

Smokeless Joe, where you order the extended battery, I'm looking for one, but in the sprint site says extended but is not really extended, when I call is the same as the one that the phone brought or less

I actually ordered two batteries, (both OEM) got one from ebay for 7.99 free shipping and got the second one from daydeal.com for 39.00, just received both of them today. Charging the ebay battery now, figured I'd give the cheaper one a try so I could leave the seller some feedback after a day or two of trial.

The battery is model BK10. If you go to the daydeal site look for it under the moto ic502 accessories, it is not listed under v950 accessories.

The batter cover came yesterday and is "rubberized" like the rest of the phone, only difference is that it does not have the metal part that says Nextel on it like the original cover does.

I have to say Sprint came a long way for this and it was well over due, but to see it working in action as in the real world is a plus but the only thing I hate is sprint won't allow me to add PAM to my simply everything plan even if I opt out to pay the extra $40 the system still won't allow them to add it. I guess they fix the hole were people were able to add it including my self when I had my ic902 but that was when I had iden/sprint all in 1 maybe that's why? I do not know but its pissing me off that they won't even allow me to GIVE THEM MORE MONEY FOR A SERVICE that I really need the most right now as I travel and never really home. airecards are nice for alot of data but to pay $80 just to browse, email and maybe a few downloads that i can't do with a cell phone is just worth the PAM plan for me. I also tried everywork around even tried to look for the NAI disable in this phone but never could find it as it was on other phones including the samsung m800 instinct that had the same PAM problem even if you wanted to pay for it ..the system did not allow it how dumb can this system be to release a phone that can only work on that plan also work as a modem but won't allow the add of PAM to use it "legally" then they wonder why people do illegal things not to saying its right but that's why.

I pissed around and blew my 30 day window. I finally got around to having a bit of time, due to work, kids' soccer practice, and whatnot. I was putting everything in the bag to return this evening, when I saw on the receipt that I missed by a day. :irked:
I'm stuck with the VE20.

Inside, the same phone with better battery life.

Outside, well, y'all with the V950 have a heck of a phone and I'm gonna have to suppress my jealousy for the next couple of years.

To "seal the deal," I bought a leather flip case on clearance at Ratshack. It was intended for a Samsung Sync, but I put my sewing skills to work, making myself a quite nice leather flip. (I wouldn't have needed a leather flip case if I'd kept my head out of my as_ and returned on time so I could get the V950! :frustrate)

AsItLies

I wouldn't sweat it sixt7. The ve20 is a great phone, I had a tough time deciding to exchange it, especially given that it might (and did) make a mess of my plan putting the v950 on it.

It appears to be okay now (fingers crossed), but if I had known ahead of time what I was going to have to go through? I'd prob still have the ve20.

Good luck and enjoy,

Ok I've given my extended battery the run through over the weekend and I think I made the right choice. The battery has lasted way beyond the original. I turned on the vibrate option and set auto download for email and basically used the sh*t out of the phone to wear down the battery, it held up very well. Obviously it adds a little bulk to the phone but its worth the investment.

#1 Would someone with the extended battery post some pictures please? The extended battery for my Samsung A900 tripled my data time from 2 hours to 6 hours, but the extended battery cover was really ugly.

#2 I am signed up for the $15 unlimited internet and manually enabled the modem, which saves me $35 a month. Can this be done on the Moto?

#3 How do java apps run on the phone? I use Opera Mini, Mobile GMaps, and Gmail. Can the API's for bluetooth, GPS, file management, and audio enabled for an app? (application -> options -> settings -> network, bluetooth, location, etc)

#3 How do java apps run on the phone? I use Opera Mini, Mobile GMaps, and Gmail. Can the API's for bluetooth, GPS, file management, and audio enabled for an app? (application -> options -> settings -> network, bluetooth, location, etc)

Opera Mini installs and works fine, and looks great on the 240x320 screen. Mobile GMaps wouldn't install for me at all. Don't use Gmail so I can't answer that one.

The APIs for Bluetooth, location, etc. generally cannot be manually enabled by the user. If you try to navigate to those particular settings in the way you described, you click on "Network" or "Location" or what have you and it only gives you the "Never Allow" option. There also appears to be a bug in the software (which also is in the RAZR software, from what I read in the developer forums) which prevents you from turning on Developer Cert even if you know your MSL, or have a developer account with Sprint. So basically, there is literally no way for an ordinary user to install any non-Sprint java app that needs access to GPS etc. and have it work.

Analog
09-27-2008, 06:06 AM
...and, to correct myself: I just took another whack at enabling developer cert via the Sprint developer website and this time it worked. For some reason, on my first V950, it didn't.

Mobile GMaps *does* install, but I had to install the signed generic version, *not* the Sprint version. Do this with Developer Cert enabled, and MGMaps works just fine, with full GPS functionality.

A30N
09-27-2008, 04:36 PM
Perfect, thanks for the info! I am going over to the Sprint store today to get the Renegade. With my A900, installing a developer certificate didn't unlock any doors, so I found a program that allows access to the system files on Qualcomm handsets (QPST), and after much searching, I found a file that when edited, allowed you to enable the various APIs for each java program. I posted a tutorial here (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=961991&page=2&pp=15) However, unless the specific API is present on the phone, say JSR-82 for bluetooth, enabling the feature for an app won't do you a bit of good, which was the case on my A900: JSR-179 (GPS) was installed but JSR-82 (bluetooth) was missing. I'm glad to know that the developer certificate works with the V950 as I would hate to have to go through all that work all over again just to get a few apps functioning. :D

A had such a *WONDERFUL* visit at my Sprint store today.....

(A) The sales reps there informed me that in order to purchase a DC-capable phone, a customer must also purchase a DC service plan. Incorrect! :deal:

(B) The sales rep thought that the LG Rumor had "high-speed internet" (EVDO Rev.A to you and I). Wrong! :td:

(C) The sales rep couldn't even spell the world "developer" (as in developer.sprint.com). I ended up reaching over the counter and typing it in for him. (mind you, I did it upside down) :bang:

I, a patient and understanding individual, finally gave up and dialed 611 from my handset, right there in the store with the sales rep in front of me. Less than five minutes later the voice on the phone was informing me that my V950 will be arriving at my doorstep sometime Wednesday afternoon, and that I could keep my existing plan without adding DC to it. The sales rep who had been helping me in the store looked really uncomfortable after I completed my purchase over the phone, so I decided to leave the store with gloating or speaking to his manager.

What has me scratching my head is though is that I normally deal with a physical store outlet instead of calling some corporate hotline when I want to make a quick purchase and get help from well-trained staff. Today was an unexpected reversal of experiences.

You bought the extended too or just the regular, so far I can deal with two regular batteries and only when I use the gps and tv a lot without power is that when doesn't last long but other than that it last long for me and since I bought the bluetooth @ costco and it came with car charger is better when you want to use the gps cause you can use that charger for both the bluetooth and the phone. that bluetooth is awesome the Motorola H715 that's the latest, when I got it three of my friends just told me to buy it for them and they love it, plus you can hear the gps thru that bluetooth even when is not a stereo bluetooth. Hey all new here. Just came off an i580 a few days ago to a V950. Being that the guy at sprint LOST my two-way number in the transfer and it took 3 days to get a new one (after they couldn’t get it back), seems to be a nice phone. Sunday I finally had it up and running. I put it on the charger at 9 pm and left it in until 5am and went to work. By 9:30 am the battery was on one bar, and that was with very little use (The DC and Data was not working yet). Last nite I turned off the Sprint Default Screensaver and put it back on the charger until 5am. As of now (10am), the battery is still at 3 bars. I’m still gonna get the BK10 as all suggest.

BTW….. I just got a Bluetooth headset (jabra BT2010). Just connected it and the phone and NAV work thru it, but the MP3 player and TV will not go thru. Is there something I’m doing wrong or is it just that way? Guy at Sprint said it should.

Let me ask you if I turn off the location feature and it would turn automatically when I turn the gps on, after I use the gps it would go back to off or I have to fix it again, and tell me where I turn off that location so I can try to save little bit more the battery. Also I try my motorola H715 bluetooth with the tv and it won't go thru either just only the gps, I'm wondering too, cause the guy from sprint it says it won't go thru nothing

As far as I know, the Location setting just enables or prevents access from applications to the GPS feature. It doesn't actually disable/enable any hardware.

Well, hubby & I have had the Renegade for less than 24 hours, and here's my impressions.
I had my heart set on the LG LX400 hero. But from reading on the forum, it hasn't had stellar reports. Hubby & I tried the Sanyo Pro-700. It lasted less than a week and we took them back & reactivated our SCP-8400s. The pro just didn't do it for me. The thought of 2 years with it made me whimper. You couldn't do much with it, in the way of personalization, it was double butt ugly, no camera (which on occasion is handy) the reception didn't seem all that great. Never could get the direct connect to work on mine.

So yesterday I was in the sprint lifestyles store, trying to straighten out my Aunt's sprint bill, and had to wait. Nick was putting back a Renegade a guy had looked at, so I asked to see it, just to have something to do while I waited my turn. We've had Sanyo every since we came to Sprint, and loved them. But seems they aren't quite as good as they used to be. I looked at the Moto, and thought hmm, those sealed keys could be nice. We live on a farm, outside in all weather. So hubby & I went back up last night, Nick popped a battery in and we played with it a bit, and WOW. We both brought one home as our upgrade phone to try out. Seems to get very good reception. They are right, Direct Connect IS faster than ready link, AND you can activate it with the door shut. It seems to accept all kinds of file types as ringers, .midi, .mp3 and .qcp. I've uploaded my horse's picture for a screen saver. Lots more options for customization. Found how to get it to do a countdown (useful for canning). Seems to be nice & loud on the ringers and for conversations (hubby is a bit hard of hearing) this is a BIG deal, he can hear it fine. Since this is a farm, while I like the pretty LX Hero, I'm guessing the study rubberized Renegade is going to be a great choice. Maybe something to dress it up, looks wise later. I know we have 30 days with it, but after this one day I've taken Smokeless Joe's advice & ordered us each an extended battery from batterymania (he's down to 74 now) and it's already been shipped, car charger apiece and we are getting the battery door from sprint. So yeah, less than 24 hours, and we've found a keeper!
I did notice when I was uploading ringtones to it from rumpkin that I wouldn't get the text message, don't know why, but would use the phone navigate to the page & put in the jump code and got them that way. Now THAT did seem to run the battery down fast.
It has not rebooted or anything weird. I don't really do any texting, and seldom use it to get on the net, so can't say much about that. But it sure seems like a fine phone.

Hey there cowgirl, if I'm not mistaken you and I had a conversation awhile back about you getting a new phone. At the time I had the pro 700 (actually I still do) but have upgraded to the v950 (missed the cam and ringers) I'll keep my pro as a back-up.

Glad you found one that suits your needs. Other than a couple quirks that have been stated in the thread I think its a good solid phone.

Yep, I found back then I could value what you said. So when I read how you felt about the renegade after having seen it in the store I felt more confident. The battery does seem to be the issue, I've got bluetooth power shut off in an effort to save it. The battery stuff should be here next week, but so far, I really like this phone. Last weeks session with one of my horses made me much more willing to consider a rubber phone, but I still wouldn't have take a pro-700, too many drawbacks for me.
Thanks for those great tips on getting an extended battery. I bet you are saving folks a bundle, and enhancing the enjoyment of this phone!

I was able to have the V950 Renegade shipped to me almost 14 days before the stores were able to sell them. This is a feature packed handset, I like to use it as an MP3 player as it can handle up to an 8gb microSD card. I haven't tried the GPS yet as I want to be able to have the screen where I can see it while driving (Have a manual). Use the web, and love the calendar, office email is forwarded. I have set up many ringers for the various contacts, and the built in speaker is top quality. It is very hard to find quality 2.5mm stereo headsets though, as mentioned in another post. And the battery needs some help halfway through the day. But these things are easily fixed. I do look forward to when they have more themes to download. This is definitely a great phone to get if you are wanting a high end Direct Connect handset.

Does any one know if the Mobile sync affects incoming and outgoing calls? I have had my V950 for 5 days now and the first 2 days this phone worked great. no issues. Now I sit in my living room with 5 bars on my signal, a full battery and whe someone calls me I can hear them but they can't hear me. Also i either go into digital roam automatically or i get "call failed, signal faded", still showing 5 bars signal strength. This is driving me nuts.
Thanks in advance.

This place has (at least very recently did) the extended battery cover door:

Click Here (http://www.justaccessories-discounts.com/servlet/StoreFront)

His price appears to be higher then sprint at first, but he doesn't charge for shipping so comes out the same. I ordered one from Joe and he's a nice guy and got me one fast. Good luck.

The battery issues being discussed here have been holding me back from buying the V950. I've been looking for a good flip phone with a mp3 player since July. I was holding out for the Eclipse and that was a disappointment. Then I found out about the V950. Now it seems that everyone is having battery issues. I don't want to spend $130 on a phone and then spend more money on a extended battery that will make the phone thicker. The last thing I want is a thicker phone.
If the Eclipse had a QVGA screen, I would jump on it. I think I may hold out a little while longer to see if Moto fixes the battery issue. If not, then I will probably be going with the Eclipse :(

I don't think there will be a Fix to make the battery last longer. These phones have so many feauters and hi-end graphics, its just gonna use juice. There is no way around it except for more power... bigger battery

I just decided to get the extended battery cover (ttl 12.95) and a couple of extended
bk10 batteries off ebay (ttl about 18.00).

At this point I'm really liking it. While it does make it thicker, it's a non issue for me. At first I figured just using one of the leather cases I had would work, but it's a pretty tight fit.

Then I remembered the plastic thing that comes with the phone. I put the phone in it once, when I first got it. Yes like a lot of us, I thought it went in the opposite of the way it's suppose to... d'oh!

But now that plastic thing is awesome. The extended battery is irrelevant to it, as one side of it offers no protection and that's where the larger battery side is. And the extended cover is rubberized and very durable, so it's okay on the outside.

The side that is protected is perfectly formed for both the screen and the camera part. And of course it's very durable abs plastic.

I'd highly recommend it, get the extended cover and batts and use the plastic clip thing that came with it, working out great.

Regards,

Maybe you are right but Moto's specs on the battery life are much higher than people are reporting. Sprint has a lot of feature rich phones and I am not aware of any other phones with this battery life problem. Even people that don't have DC are reporting battery problems.

I honestly think the majority of battery issues are related to software bugs with the battery meter on the phone. The meter itself seems very unreliable.

maxima2k53
10-03-2008, 04:43 PM
i actually do believe its the battery meter giving false reads...bc last weekend i went to the seminole hard rock in hollywood...i was taking pictures with flash like crazy sending them to facebook...in 3 hours i went to 1 bar im like crap let me chill out for a second...then 2 hours later when i got home i still had no bars on the battery meter already telling me to charge it...im like screw this let me let the battery die for the hell of it...so i started using the opera mini for like 30 minutes and it would just flash "connect to charger" and nothing happened for half an hour im like maybe its the meter just buggy so i charged it finally...that's my story

I got my BK10 extended battery from Batterymania that Smokeless Joe mentioned off of ebay. The guy ships at the speed of light. I had them (got two, one for me, one for hubby) and if you don't buy over two, he shipped FREE. Well packed and had them like two days after I bought them! Total was under $16

Now, for those extended battery doors, I bought them off the Sprint web site, and they didn't say backordered when I placed my order, but I've been on the sprint web site trying to find my order, to see what it might say about when they would ship. I can't even find where after logging in I would find an order placed for an accessory. Anyone know if that stuff is on the sprintpcs web site? I still love this phone, ok, battery isn't great, but it's a great phone, and sounds like the bigger battery will sort it out. Both of us really like this phone a LOT, and they are right, Direct connect is even faster than ready link.

I guess the DC is the real battery killer. My plan doesn't include DC, and so far, my battery life is very impressive, twice that of my old Sammy A900. I use the phone as a modem over bluetooth for about 3 hours a day, half an hour using Opera Mini and Mobile GMaps, and another half an hour talking, and I still have two bars of juice at the end of the day.

Someone mentioned problems with getting music to stream to their stereo bluetooth headset, try deleting the profile and re-pairing. If that doesn't work, go install a developer's certificate; one of those (not sure which one) did the trick for me.

Install the Sprint Developer's Certificate (free) on your phone from developer.sprint.com (you need to register first), and then with your phone's built-in browser, go to wap.mgmaps.com and install the Generic (Full) Signed Jad (I forgot if its the regular url or the absolute url). When Mobile GMaps asks you about accessing the web, the file system, or the GPS for the first time after installation, there will be a new option that says "Always Allow".

I haven't seen a difference between turning the Location feature on or off, so I just leave it on, so that Mobile GMaps can use the GPS signal. I guess as long as you have either DC or Location disabled you'll have decent battery times.

deleting music from ur memory card has noting to do with the memory from the fone...internal memory is different from external so u dont have to worry about memory card having too much music...if i were u have u pictures saved on ur memory card...the pictures assigned to contacts r still part of the memory card bc ive check the pictures that i have on my fone and they just have the preloaded ones which u cant even delete which sucks...so the only thing u gotta watch out and not clog up is with ringtones and application like opera mini live search and google maps...for me i got like 6 ringtones all those applications ive listed and my fone still acts normal

Opera Mini is faster than the Obigo (built-in)browser at handling large, complex websites. If you only visit wap sites, then you don't need Opera Mini at all. An example is when I want to check my bank account balance online. If the bank doesn't provide a wap site for mobile devices, you will need Opera Mini to act as a proxy, so to speak, in order to use the bank's regular website which requires amongst other things, a secure connection to login. Also, with Opera Mini, you can change the layout from portrait to landscape, view the page in normal mode (scroll left and right) or mobile mode (clamped to window), the quality of images displayed (low quality is faster, high quality is prettier), transfer bookmarks from your computer's Opera browser to Opera Mini on your phone and vice versa, and of course, a frickin' loading bar that lets you know that you actually clicked that link and that the page is currently being rendered and sent to your phone....why did they left a loading bar out of the Obiga browser?!

It certainly shouldn't be something that once you shut off you can't turn it on again. but there is no doubt it will use up the batt a bit using the so called "push technology"... which for a user basically means the email is sent to you auto magically, as opposed to you checking it manually whenever you want to.

Just thought I would let everyone know that NFL Mobile Live is now available for the v950, hopefully Nascar Mobile won't be far behind.

Group:

OK.

I want to edit the audio clip (make it a little longer, because the V950 is
cutting off the last five seconds) of a ringtone I downloaded.

I want to delete the one on the phone first, and then download an edited.

How do I delete the one I added?

Joe:

When I go to My Stuff, the options are:

Games
Themes
Ringers
Screen Savers
Applications
Call Tones

If I hit Ringers, the options are:

Get New
Manage My Stuff

If I hit "Manage My Stuff",

the phone goes on-line. I see a Store Front.

When I check it, I get 9003: No items purchased.

This does not seem like the path to get to the ringtones I've downloaded.

Any other idea?

Any of the ringers that I have made and downloaded go into my ringers file not sure what to tell you. Where did you download the ringer from?

Are you trying to re download Sprint NFL Mobile or the newer NFL Mobile Live.

How are you guys getting it? Whenever I try to dl it I'm told it's not available for this device.
When I log on to the SprintWeb from my phone I go to downloads and its the first featured item. NFL Mobile Live.

Hope you and dub can get it downloaded. Seems strange that it would work on some handsets and not others.

"Any of the ringers that I have made and downloaded go into my ringers file not sure what to tell you. Where did you download the ringer from?"

Joe, are you talking about downloading your ringers onto a uSD card and using them from there?

It would certainly be easier to delete them there, I think.

The ringer I downloaded was created on a PC and downloaded on to the phone. As such, it's in the phone's internal memory.

And I can't figure out where to go to delete it.

No, you are not alone.

I didn't download it being I'm not into NFL, but my brother did with his, with no problem.

Ok lets try this.. Go to Tools, File Manager, Aroow across to Music, In phone, aroow down and see if you can find the ringer you downloaded. If not I got no other suggestions. Sorry.

It would appear so, not sure what to tell you Dub. Maybe try going to Settings, More... Data Services and then update your profile, then try to run it again.
