What's next after a900m?

I have an a900m now (I actually just lost it, and looking, but no matter...), and the 2 year plan is about to come to end, so I can get a new phone.

I like the A900--it has good voice quality, good signal, bluetooth, and is customizable enough for me. (I like the menu shortcuts). Texting works quite well and I got used to it's t9. It could also survive a drop. The short-lasting battery and the sluggish camera were annoying however.


I'd like a dependable phone that that at least works as well as the a900, or better. Something not terribly flashy, but just built with usability in mind. I don't care much about having the internet on the phone, so that should hopefully make a replacement easier to pick.

What would you recommend? The m520 seems interesting, but I see some seriously negative reviews about it. What else is good?

If you like the slimness of the a900, I think you should look into the V9m, even though it is a little flashy.

Same situation here. Nothing currently really any better than the A900. I figured by now there would be some 3 or 5MP cameras at least. I am on SERO and want to stay so the Instinct is not an option. the V9 looked promising but no longer on the Sprint store last time I checked. Verizon have what appears to be the A900 successor with I think a 3MP camera but Sprint really doesn't have any new or outstanding phones unless you get their data plans which I don't want or need. AFAIK Sprint are not coming out with anything new anytime soon. Looks like they put all their resources into the Instinct and forgot about the rest of us.

Ok, so I just bought a new a900 from eBay (got lucky). Is it possible to flash the a900 with a900m firmware (for better T9)?

It is. I have done it to 2 of my phones but could never get the data/internet to work on it after flashing so I could never get the final OTA update to ZJ23 to complete the upgrade. Voice and text work but thats it.

The same would definitely hold true for the m610, which btw did come out after the a900. it also had a 2mp camera and other advantages over the a900. It was arguably the best flip ever made by sprint! sadly,it was discontinued a mere 2 months later for no apparent reason
