a420 vs. m300 vs. LX160

I'm overseas so am a bit out of the loop on Sprint phones -

This is for my mom, who just wants a low-upfront cost flip phone. Technologically, at most, maybe she'll learn to send text messages.

So:
Samsung a420
Samsun m300
LG LX160

Based on phonescoop reviews - I'd suggest the LX160. What's the word on the street as to quality of these different phones however?

I suggest paying $30 more and getting something in that price range. Like a Samsung M520 or Katana LX.

I say avoid the M300 like the plague. I have one (my mom got it for me with the account and I dropped my Muziq into some water) and everytime I use it, I feel like throwing it into a wall. If you think she may learn texting then it's definitely not for her because the phone freezes if you decide to use T9 or punctuation. But that's just my opinion. I can't comment on any of the other phones.

Hello mmace1. I myself have the LG LX-160 plus the Samsung SPH-a420 on my Sprint account and would recommend them both. However, the easiest one to use in my opinion for text messaging and so on is the LX-160. It has a texting button built in. Hope this helps! :)

Based on phonescoop reviews, I was already discounting the M300 - but wanted to get additional opinions.

The A420 & LX160 then - I think it sounds good for her to just go to a store & handle those two to choose, with me leaning toward the LX160, I think.
