Opinions on S1?

I just ordered a SERO plan for my son and I bought him the S1, since I want his first phone to be very basic. Is this as durable as other Sanyos? Any big issues with it?

That would have my phone of choice coming from the sanyo 4930, but the s1 had lower specs then my 4930. I would like to see an S1 pro type of phone with rev a and qchat.

I've had my S1 for about 6 months and I've been pretty happy with it. It's managed to withstand all the beatings I've subjected it to (floating around my front pocket all the time, dropped, sat on, etc etc). As for the phone itself, it does what it's supposed to, make and receive calls, texting, and web surfing.

totally agree with you on that one. i was looking at the S1 because of the form factor. but it doesn't compare to the 4930. a follow up to the S1 that i would consider would include a more "rugged" body, comparable battery life to the 4930, and definitely some EVDO action. wouldn't really need or want a camera on this particular phone.
