I need some advice on getting a new phone:

Currently I have a Samsung m510 and I like it mostly. What I want in my new phone are pretty much the features that my m510 offered with a few exceptions: I need a battery that lasts longer and I need a louder speaker so that I can hear my phone ringing.

Certainly I want good call quality etc, but basically if my m510 had a louder speaker and a longer lasting battery, then it would be perfect. I do some texting, lots of internet browsing and very little multimedia.
I don't know if reception will be a problem but my m510 has pretty good reception in all the places where I usually am.

I wouldn't really mind a larger phone, I'm a guy so a "manly" phone is not a problem. I was considering the hybrid ic902 but I don't know anyone with Nextel so I can't use the radio.

Suggestions please?

I also want a cheap price, ebay maybe, a used one?

thanks in advance.

If you wait until June 20th, Sprint is launching the new Samsung Instinct. It certainly will not be a manly phone, just feature rich. I just don't know how long the battery will last with a phone that is touch screen sensitive. The Sanyo M1 is a good phone, has 1GB internal memory and is great on battery life. Not sure if Sprint still offers it though. As far as the ic902, if you don't know anyone on the Nextel network, it would be kinda pointless to get that phone.IMO.

Let me know what you decide on......

I've read about the instinct, not really what I'm looking for. I don't know, I went to a sprint store and most of the phones I didn't like, the lady suggested the katana dlx and it did seem nice. I also saw the ic902 it isn't as bulky as I thought it was gonna be, I pretty much want it because of the loud speaker/long lasting battery life.

I don't know maybe I'll wait like a month, seems like sprint will be releasing new models. I'm still undecided, how is the katana? is it future-proof?

I also looked at the centro...man, I don't know which one to get, but thanks for the reply.

The Katana I have had the first model of, in pink, and man it scratches badly. The Motorola's are not very good IMO, the battery is not as good as you would think, and the speaker quality is poor, but they do play loud, just poorly.

The Cento is a decent phone, but if you are a heavy texter, you will not not like how close the keys are together. Plus it uses the Blazer browser which, again IMO,sucks. My sister has the Katana II and it seems ok.

You are asking the right person, because all of Sprint's flashy phones, I have had at one point or another. If you have the cash, the only Motorla I would recommend is the Razor V9m, or the Razor 2 rather. It has a HUHE screen both on the inside and outside and plays pretty loudly. Right now, Sprint does not have the best phone lineup that they have had in the past.

Let me know if this helps.

Check out the Sanyo M1, it's bigger but the call quality/speaker is much better. And it's really solid

Thanks guys for all the replies. I finally decided to go with a cheap ic902 I found on ebay. I will give it a try and grlnxtdr681, I did consider the razr but I was never a fan of them (even the new one).

So my phone should arrive tomorrow, so far the reviews seem pretty decent and I will have the nextel thing (I will have to find some contacts), but it will be cool having ppl looking at you and thinking you are important lol jk.

Thanks again, I actually have an old samsung a920, maybe I could just buy a new battery and it'd be good to go again!
