I want to buy a new smart phone but I don't know which 1 I should choice. So which smart phone should I buy if I want a phone that
** will last with me as least 2 years without insurance
** can access to websites that do not have mobile phone version
** has a moderate - good sound quality.
** can use google map or mapquest.
** can use Microsoft Word
* good battery life is the bonus
I will use Sprint TV and radio alot, moderate amount of web searching
Will Instinct be able to use Microsoft Word? Is Instinct a smart phone?

We've had the Treo, the Touch (same OS as the Mogul) and a Curve in our home. Don't know anything about the qc9, and have minimal Instinct info.
Yes, the Instinct is a smart phone but the OS is fairly unique. One thing I've heard about the Instinct - like the iPhone limited or no integration with Outlook calendar, tasks, todo, etc. so if that is a big deal right out of the box, consider one of the others.
I upgraded from Treo to Touch & was happy with my decision once I downloaded a different keyboard. Just bought a BB Curve for spouse & was happily surprised by it, but I don't think Spouse needs Word so haven't checked to see whether there is a BB workaround or app.

for those needs your best bet would probably be the mogul or the touch pending on your need of a physical keyboard.

Here are my two cents:
First off it is a terrible idea to have a smart phone with no insurance. Second there isn't a smart phone out there that you can hold to the standard of lasting two years. Any smart phone with a touch screen is incredibly fragile and there are just too many things that can go wrong with them. With that said you best bet for longevity would be a Blackberry. But it really depends on how hard you plan one using it.
Sound quality is pretty even across the board with the exception of palms. They generally have a weaker sound quality and they tend to distort when the volume is up all the way.
Most smart phones can access non wap sites, but depending on the site will depend on how well it will work.
The Microsoft word, I know treos can, the mogul can not sure about the others.
Battery life. Depends on the amount of web surfing and media functions. The Pearl gets outstanding battery life. Treos and the Mogul are average (though the bluetooth on the Mogul bleeds the battery like you wouldn't believe).
Not sure about google map or mapquest. Sprint did just redo their plans and Telenav is pretty incredible. (I had a chance to play with the Instinct and it is incredible with Telenav).
Here is what I understand about the Instinct. It isn't a traditional smart phone, but it is an extremely optimized handset for all the web apps. Like I said Telenav loads extremely quick, the TV is the best I've seen on a handset. I do not know if it will read word Docs or not. The battery life is rated at 5.5 hours and it comes with two batteries so that you can have one charging at all times.
Now with your wants it sounds like you are already on or going to be on one of those unlimited plans so that will not be an issue.
I'd say you are a candidate to try the Instinct. But seriously, I'd pony up for the extra four bucks a month just to cover yourself. It is a new phone and with new phones come with new problems. (because chances are on your local repair center... 90% of any smart phone repair cost is going to run you $55)

I've owned the 755p, the predecessor to the Mogul- the ppc6700, and the Touch.
The 755p is pretty straight forward with superior sound quality compared to the PPC phones.
The ppc6700 was sheer frustration though the Mogul is much improved.
The Touch is a great balance between the 755 and ppc6700, if you don't mind not having a physical keyboard. I thought I'd miss it, but really I do not. This is a highly customizable phone too. The Instinct may be as well but I suspect since it is new, it will take some time to rev up to speed.... Go to your Sprint store and be touchy feely with all of them. I agree with crazynotion though... Spend the $4 for piece of mind.
