As the title states, I am trying to transfer my contact list from my old Katana to my new Blackberry Pearl. Is this possible, or am I barking up the wrong tree??

I can get the phone's to pair and recognize each other, but when I go to send a contact on the Katana it says "Device not available. Refresh service?" I click yes and on the Blackberry, the Katana name in the list of paired devices goes bold and the blue Bluetooth indicator light lights up and the Bluetooth icon changes to have arrows on it like its about to transfer. But then on the Katana it says "Connection failed. Device not available." I click done and the Blackberry stops blinking and the Katana brings me back to the Bluetooth devices menu.

I don't know what I am doing wrong. Maybe a firmware update for the Katana?? Please help me figure this out if anyone knows what to do. Or is this just another way for Sprint to sell their stupid $2 online backup service??

Not gonna happen... Blackberrys don't seem to receive BT contact transfers at least from my experience. If you have a store nearby that has a Cellbrite machine that is your best bet.

thanks for the response. what's a cellbrite machine? would most local sprint stores have one.
plus, i am no longer with sprint. i just wanted to get the numbers off the katana really. can the cellbrite machine give them to me in a file? what format do they get stored in if i use the online backup?

A Cellebrite machine should be able to go across carriers depending on the phone and software update on the Cellebrite machine.... It is a machine that transfers contacts from one phone to the other via cables. Pretty nifty machine.

The cellebrite machine is pretty nifty... Take your Katana and a USB Drive or SD card into a sprint store. They can Backup your contacts. The Drive/card will have a folder with todays date and two files... One is the file that the CB machine can read the other is PHONEBOOK.HTM which will have all your contacts nicely in. You can print it out or copy and paste into MS Word.
Hope this helps.
