My wife may be looking to replace her aging low-end Sanyo or Samsung phone with a more recent model (Sprint). We don't use music and may or may not use Bluetooth. A low-end camera is sufficient. We're not cell phone 'power users', but we do do some texting. ;-)

I've been using an LG Rumor and love it. I see a few Sanyo models at the Sprint site with decent prices, the Katana II and the Katana LX. Can anyone summarize the differences between them for me? Also, which is a newer model?

"KATANAŽ II by SanyoŽ"

The LG Rumor is a little more money but she may want that for the full qwerty keyboard.

But I'm very interested in people's opinions of these two Katanas in general, and the preferences of one over the other specifically.

Thanks very much in advance!!

I have heard that both of them are going to be discontinued phones. I am trying to find out if there is going to be a replacement for them. The difference between them though that I have found that is the DLX I think has more bells and whistles than the II. My husband has the II and we don't really care for it, the battery life seems to not be very good from what we can tell.

The Katana LX is the newer one. Have you looked at other phones? The Samsung m500 is $50 cheaper (free right now) than both phones you've looked at, and it's got wayy more features

I am thinking about the Samsung M520. I am going to go and check out the M500. Hopefully it isn't a discontinued phone just yet.
