I cannot decide what to get. The problem is that I'm not super fond of any of Sprint's phones at the moment. And I don't want the Instinct because I tend to text quite a bit and do not want to text on a touch screen.
I use my phone a lot for talking, texting, and organization/scheduling. I don't use the internet much at all (pointless when I'm at a computer all day at work) so I'm not very concerned about that.
Please help. Need advice.
I might just go back to Verizon. Why doesn't Sprint get awesome phones like Verizon?

I'd give anything if Sprint got awesome phones like Verizon does. I really am pleased with my Centro, though. I'm posting from it now, actually. But the idea of an enV2 combined with my SERO plan is this girl's wet dream. Yes I need a life.

I am also very happy with my Centro. From what you described that you want in a phone the Centro should fit nicely. Should you decide you want more there is a sh*tload of software for the PalmOS that you can add to your phone.
I also like the way the Centro does threaded texting. It's very cool.

I guess if you text a lot the Centro is a good choice. I thought of it but ruled it out - not quite sure now. Perhaps solely because it does not appear to support Sprint Music store. Is that correct? Otherwise it seems comparable to my newly purchased M520, which I am not so sure I like all that much now. I mean I like the look but it seems somewhat buggy and perhaps the Centro is better. Now I am thinking about switching.

Wow, isnt the resolution a bit "blah" to use ona forum like this. I just got my centro yesterday and its nice, but the keys can be hard since i have big fingers.

I thought about gettin the same 3 phones that the OP is asking about. I will say this. My mother has the Katana DLX, it's a real nice phone, great screen, menu's are fast (I had a razr previously), and it is loud. The 520 seems nice, I played with it for a bit in the store. I was impressed and not impressed at the same time. So this now leads up to the Centro. I picked one up. I Love It. I keep a lot of appointments so the datebook is great. The Camera takes a good pic as long as you have light, and customizable with a ton of Palm programs. Now you know how I looked at them, and where I went.

The WAP version of the forum is great on my Centro. The full version probably wouldn't look as good.

I have a question about the Centro. Can you customize the background on the phone? That's one of the things preventing me from getting the Centro...the fact that it's just a little boring looking with the home screen grid and whatnot.
I've also heard that the Katana DLX has a lot of bugs in the system and the Samsung M520 lags a bit.
I have to keep track of several appointments on a daily basis (usually between 8 and 12 appointments because I am a mental health case manager) so that's why I was initially drawn toward the Centro. My old Q just isn't cutting it anymore. I hate Motorolas.

Yes with a little app called TreoLauncher you can add pics as backgrounds to the app screen. You can also get an awesome app called TakePhone which changes the interface of the default phone app. Both well worth the money. If you search the forum for both you will see a lot of peoples homescreens and phone screens.
Here is a picture of my Phone screen using takephone and a customized skin. This is just the find screen there are several different screens with this app. (see bottom icons)

Here is one of my homescreens using TreoLauncher and custom alert , Bluetooth and battery icons on my Centro. (All can be downloaded search the forum and TC)

Get the centro. It can do much more for the price than the M520 or the DLX

I second the Centro rec. Especially if you have a lot to keep up with. My Centro saves me on a regular basis with the calendar, reminders, and memos.

does the Centro require a data plan like blackberrys?

centro doesn't require an extra plan you just have to have the power vision. To the op move in to the smart phone. I've moved on from sanyo 8300 to a blackberry curve and loving it. I never knew phone can do this much for you. I'm joining the crackberry cult.

Centro, best value for the $ on sprint hands down. ESPECIALLY if you like texting.

I've been thinking about getting the Centro as my next phone. It seems like a great beginner's smart phone.
I've got semi-large hands (can't do anything cool like palm a basketball), but does anyone else with large/semi-large hands have similar problems with the Centro? Are the buttons hard to push/get to with one hand? Do you often accidentally press multiple buttons at once because they're so small? Thanks ahead of time.
EDIT: Sorry to briefly hijack the tread.

EDIT: Sorry to briefly hijack the tread.I also have semi big hands. The only mistakes I make while typing o my Centro are the same ones I make typing on a full sized keyboard. Like i said in another thread though, my SMS usage tripled from 1000/ month to 3000/month once i got the Centro.

Yeah, I use way more SMS than I did with T9 also. I still love my Centro and I've had it for seven months now. I'm usually sick and tired of my phone within 3 months.
