I have been thinking for a while that I want to try the PDA/SmartPhone market out again so what ever phone I do decide to go with it will be with no upgrade I would pay the higher end price. I have put a list together of devices I am considering switching to. I am also looking into getting the best deal (lowest price possible) for what ever I switch to. So here is the list.
1. Palm® Centro™
2. BlackBerry® Pearl™ 8130
3. BlackBerry® Curve™ 8330
I also want to protect any investment so any advice will be helpful.

the blackberries require the 30-40 per month blackberry plan...that has always pushed me away from those.
the palm keypad is TINY, so definitely try before you buy with that one...don't just order online
have you looked at the touch/mogul or the q9c? what kind of stuff do you want to do with the phone?

What ever device I choose I would like to have the following features Sprint Music StoreSM Enabled, Sprint TV® Enabled, GPS Enabled, & Memory Card Slot. Another feature I like a lot is the ability to save and play music. I did notice two devices that you suggested were touchscreen (Mogul & Touch) I do not have anything against such a device it is just I am trying to stay away from a touchscreen for the fact of the finger prints & smudges that are left. When I came over to sprint I had the mogul for 2 weeks before I switched to my current phone for me the touchscreen was the biggest factor for the switch, at first I had thought that would not be that of a big deal but it was because it was hard to get used to trying to dial phone #s.

I would try a BB either the curve or pearl. I know the BB pv plan is 30 bucks but its worth it unlimited text web emails and sprint navigation. Sprint tv and it has sprint music and a micro slot
