Please discuss all/any accessories in this thread except the case. There is a seperate Sticky for the case since that seems to always be the most popular and talked about accessory. If you can keep the posting in this format it will make things much easier for everyone.

Accessory: "Name Accessory Here"
Where to buy: "Site/Store Here"
Cost: "$$$$ Here"
Picture: Post Picture
Your thoughts: "Post thoughts here about the accessory"

Hope this thread works out well.

Thanks

Accessory: Seido 1500mah extended battery
Where to buy: can buy direct or at crackberry
Cost: $45
Picture: N/A its same size as standard battery just a tad thicker
Your thoughts: As i mentioned above its supposed to be the same size as the standard battery just a tad thicker...ive found that the battery cover squeezes in and out as i type and hold the phone. the seido battery I hear will take care of that as well as giving an extra hour to an 1.5hr of "talking" time.

Extra battery time definately works for me.

Anyone had experience with non-OEM Blackberry car chargers? Or should I just stick with the OEM version? There was a review on shopcrackberry where the guy said that the charger did not charge, only that it powered the phone. That can't be right.

When it has come to chargers I have always bought OEM. I hear to many things about after market chargers ruining phones. I know there are ppl who say they dont but I just rather play it safe since the chargers are not that much money when you look at the cost if your phone was fried and had to buy a new one.

^^^ Agreed. Definately stick to OEM.

I would have never bought a seido battery for my BB if i was'nt sure it was completely safe. but people have been using them for a while now.

I've been using all of my Mogul chargers, including the car charger for my 8830. My girlfriend just got her Curve from T-Mobile. She uses my car charger, and uses my old Mogul chargers as well. My Curve just arrived today. So far, my 8830 seems to be okay. If I hear anything to the contrary, or see anything to the contrary, I'll stop using them immediately.

I went ahead a forked over 50 bucks for the Seidio extended battery (2600mAh!) It comes with another back cover to compensate for the larger size and states that it increases capacity by 140%.

Here is the link:

http://www.seidioonline.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=841

You can also get it from crackberry.com, which is where I ordered it from.

I'm excited to receive my new seido battery today. only downfall i've heard of since its aftermarket. the bars on the phone and the option>status>battery often don't match up. This is why i like oem but im willing to overlook that for an increase in battery performance.

I've only had the curve a few days so i don't really know how well the battery actually does but never the less the oem battery will serve me as a back up battery.

(how long will an oem battery that is fully charged then removed to be used as storage keep that charge?) OR should it be stored with no charge at all?

I received my 'super' extended battery in the mail today and put it on the curve. It sticks out about as much as any extended battery would. Unfortunately I cannot find a case to compensate for the larger size battery. I have an OEM Blackberry silicone skin. I cut out a section in the back so that the battery could stick out and so the case would still fit. I put adhesive screen protector film on the backside of the battery cover so that when i set the phone down it will not get scratched. The color of the battery case that came with the extended battery matches the black color on the back of the phone perfectly. I also noticed that I get a little better grip with the battery sticking out.

Also, I emailed Seidio and asked them if they will be making a case for those who purchased there extended battery. Hopefully they will have something coming out soon.

I received my 1500mah battery from seido yesterday and let it charge all night today...after "normal use" today since 9am (i have no reception in the office so i always eat a lot of battery) im at 65%. I still expect this to increase as its supposed to over 4-5 battery charges.

Yes, mine says that battery life will increase after 4-5 charges as well. I am hoping I will only have to charge mine once per week being that it is 2600 mah. The only downfall is that they do not make a case to fit it. Being that you can get the black OEM silicone cases on Amazon for about $2.76, I figured I would just cut through it so that I can still have protection for my phone.

Where to buy: ATT Corporate store
Cost: 19.99 plus tax

Your thoughts: Comes with a 1 year warranty (keep your receipt) which is good to know cause the top part that clips into the phone. Nice fit however, I think it's going back as I don't like that I have to give it a slight extra push into the clip to make sure it's secured.

The color of the battery case that came with the extended battery matches the black color on the back of the phone perfectly.

What kind of material did they use for the new back cover? Is it similar to what the case is made of, or is it the same shiny/polished plastic that the stock back cover is made of? If I could find a replacement back cover that has the same feel/texture as the body of the Curve (the sides) and in the same color - I would be all over it. I don't understand why they had to make the back cover the same color/texture as the face plate.

straight from seido's page for ya

Good things come in small packages! While we have packed a lot of power into one battery, this product only extends your Blackberry 8300 by only 4-5 mm! In fact, the extended battery cover will make holding your BlackBerry easier. Your hand will rest on the battery cover quite comfortably. The battery door is made from our notorious hard plastic with a smooth, rubberized finish, allowing scratch reduction of the door, as well as a better grip. The door has cutouts for the camera, flash, and mirror, as well as an opening for the speaker- providing a better overall sound quality than the OEM door! Plus this battery is compatible with Seidio's rubberized holster!

I think its a hard rubber the type that when you put it on glass it won't slide or move at all, people say they like it and feel it has a better grip but I definately like the texture of the stock blackberries how they feel, thats why i don't use skins.

I am however going to take your word on the BSE skins for the screen when their out, how see through/invisible/not noticeable would you say they are?

Thanks. Now if only they would make the replacement back cover for the stock battery using the same plastic... The stock one is very slick, just as slick as the 8830 was. That was one of the reasons I put the full body BSE skin on my 8830; I like to put my phone on the tray cover between the seats while driving, and putting the Curve (or the 8830 before I put the skin on) was like putting a soap bar there - it would slide off at every intersection. After I added the BSE skin to the 8830, it felt like the phone was glued to the armrest, and wouldn't move even during hard breaking or sharp turns. A new back plate made of the same material as the body would serve two purposes - it would make it more scratch resistant, and much less slick.

I am however going to take your word on the BSE skins for the screen when their out, how see through/invisible/not noticeable would you say they are?

It's really hard to explain; it's one of those things that you just have to see for yourself. If I put my 8830 and 8330 side-by-side - I can tell the 8830 has the screen protector if looking at a certain angles under certain lighting conditions, mostly when the screen is off. When the screen is on and you're looking straight on - you can barely tell the difference. Also, wiping the sweat/fingerprints/skin oil off of the 8830 w/ BSE is much easier than wiping it off of the bare screen of the Curve.

This is a PM i was having with osc006 about the seido extended battery...thought it would be good info for everyone to see..

infoe,

why do people have issues with the Seidio battery? I used one on my Treo and had no issues.... I'm ordering mine today.

-og

not really an issue but since its an aftermarket battery they say the icon on the top of the home page where it shows the battery does not really match up when you go into options and status of the phone. it might show full green bar but when you go into status option its really down to 50percent.

Ahh..ok...wow full green to 50percent thats a difference

for example i have the precision (bold) theme and it seperates the little green battery symbol up on the top into 5 seperations. My battery is missing only one little green seperation and in status it shows 65%. Not real accurate but, nothing that your phone would turn off without you noticing. I'm sure as the battery goes lower in power the green seperations will lower as well.

It could also be since 65% with the extended battery the system thinks it still has a ton of battery power left. (comprable to 80-90%) on the regular battery and it only shows it as having consumed a little bit of battery.

Your thoughts: The rubber back matches the phones sides perfectly and does not have any advertising visible on the product. (does not say seidio) Here are some kind words from another user that I completely agree with, An absolutely amazing product. In addition to the obvious advantage of extended battery life, it has also enhanced the appearance and feel of the phone. The hard rubber material is much easier to hold on to without slipping plus it resists scratches. Plus, the additional weight and depth makes the phone fit much better in my hand. Id highly recommend it to any Curve user. It truly improves an already great phone! The Seidio Rubberized Holster for Curve is a perfect mate for this product, I have both the extended battery and the holster, works great for me. I give this product:tu::tu::tu:
