Hi,

I was wondering which Smart or non-Smart phones, allow you to type over 160 characters and then break up your sms into as many messages as necessary.

Thank You

Only the Windows Mobile phones will break up the messages into 160 character blocks. The regular phones will just get an error message that it is full.

no, it's completely free but directions on how to install it and manage it are dependent on which windows mobile phone you have. if you do a google search for "SMS Threader" you should find it relatively easy. I don't think we can link to other sites for downloads on SU.

I think we can link to other forums such as PPC Geeks or xda-developers, we just can't post the actual file or link to where it's being hosted unless the file originated from SU.

Incoming messages on my blackberry are broken into seperate messages if greater than 160 characters. Outgoing is limited to 160 characters on the standard included SMS program.

SMS = SHORT message service

blackberry curve is only 160. in fact bb sms is a mess. no threading..just a gazillion texts all over the place. i really miss that about the centro.

what's wierd is i noticed i recieve longer texts from friends that have att etc. they have the curve too.

edit: i just talked to my friend and he said there's on limit on their curve. so it's a sprint thing i guess.

On the Curve you can RECEIVE broken up (over 160) msgs (which by the way IS threaded, to the guy that said it's not) but it stops you typing at 160.

every phone lets you receive them...the older windows mobiles phones allowed you to break them up into 160 blocks

I'm guessing he meant "NO" limit on their curve, and I second that observation. Friends with BB's on other carriers (AT&T definitely and I think Verizon too) definitely can type all they want and the phone will automatically parse into 160 character blocks to the receipient. I've been wondering if there was some setting or advanced option to do this on the Sprint Curve myself. If anyone knew,I figured it would be someone on SU.....

This is really nice to know! I've been looking for a cell over 160 words. I text a whole lot around 6,000-8,000 text messages per month.
