agian.... you have to have the OS installed on your pc before you can load apps through the blackberry desktop manager. desktop manager wont work without it.

i think the link is ... https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/browseSoftware.do

i sure wish someone would host this so we didn't have to download from blackberry's site. way too slow. so slow my sprint wireless card kicked it 3 times. i have to wait until i get home to download it.

cody

in case you didn't know...

A number of the new BlackBerry Curve units seem to have shipped with faulty device and/or desktop software that makes it difficult to install third party applications. There is an update patch available from BlackBerry that should correct this problem. To download the update specific for your device, go to the link below on BlackBerry's website. Locate your service provider in the region list, and click on that link. On the next page, select your specific model number from the dropdown list, and proceed with the download/install. Once complete, sync your BlackBerry with your desktop computer, then try installing the 3rd party software once more.

Which version of Desktop Manager are you using? You shouldn't have an issue with version 4.1 +

This you mention is part of BDM 4.3 worked pretty good.

I am talking about the software for the phone in this thread. Two different things. You will see soon enough. As soon as you go to install a 3rd party app or different theme that isn't over the air.

Maybe someone else can explain it better than me. Hopefully before to many weird replies. Lol

I had a similar problem. I already had 4.3 but downloaded the latest version again then installed then one the CD that came with the Curve and that allowed me to install third party apps.

Someone help me!!!

I know this is old, but I'm new to BB. I am having trouble with this exact issue... I cannot DL any 3rd Party apps... I've tried Desktop Manager v. 4.2 and 4.3 w/ the same result: it says I don't have the right software installed for my phone. I have downloaded and installed both the versions from RIM & from Sprint.

What am I doing wrong?

Wirelessly posted (8330: BlackBerry8330/4.5.0.77 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/104)

You can install programs manually by using javaloader

Load apps using the App loader. I was reading Cody's post and he said something about Curve OS needing to be installed as well. That confused me.

Hey folks,
I am sorely flumoxed with my new Curve. I have not found a way to transfer my content (games, songs, pictures, etc.) onto this device. Sprint told me today that I would have to repurchase all the stuff again, that BB does not have content manager as all other Sprint phones do. Sure enough, on Sprint.com I no longer have my content in the users lounge. I have tried to tranfer by Bluetooth, and had no luck there either. Sprint told me this also is impossible to do.

I want to like the curve, but right now, barely 30 hours old I am thinking of going back to my old phone, or getting the touch pro. PLease help.

songs and pictures are to easy. when you plug your device into you pc you should see a new drive called "blackberry" when you go to "my computer". just move songs and pictures onto your device as if you were coping and pasting.

games on the other hand have to be the same platform. if the games were from a blackberry, they should work on the curve. unless of course they came from a really old blackberry. if you are talking about games from your old razor... well balckberry or the touch pro wont play those. games and apps have to be of the same platform.

hope this helps, Cody

Hey CodyBB,
Thanks for the reply. What you posted would be the answer if I had been forward thinking enough to put the songs and pictures on the computer...but I didn't. They were only on the phone and I no longer have the USB cable for the Sanyo M1, so I can't load them up that way. Do you think I am just out of luck on this? I figured if any one would know about this it would be you; you seem to know more about BB than anyone else I have spoken to from Sprint. If you can thin of anything else to try, please let me know. Perhaps I should try to find another USB cable...

your problem is really not witht he blackberry, but with the M1. without a data cable you are kind of stuck. you should be able to get a data cable cheap off of ebay or craigs list. ask your friends and what not.

one other though is to find a sprint sprint store that has the data cables. take you in a flash drive and see if they can pull the stuff off of it and put it on the flashdrive. i know my sprint buddy would do it for me.

hope this helps, Cody

Unless you upgrade your OS on Desktop manager (so that there is a valid OS copy on your PC), then yes you will not be able to install 3rd party apps. You have to have both the Desktop manager and your current Blackberry OS installed to install from Desktop Manager.

I got what Cody is saying! Good call. Just most people don't even think about the fact there is 2 seperate things were talking about.
