my best friend has a mogul i have a 755p and my old roomate had a curve so i know about all 3 phones honestly what i would do is wait for the 800w its going to have wifi windows mobile 7 hopefully which has threaded texting like the palm os but if u need one asap and its between the curve and the mogul i would go with the mogul hands down you have the touchscreen bigger keyboard a nice little school button when browsing and its currently the only phone on rev a which is broadband speeds the absolutely only reason i dont have one is the threaded texting i cant live without it i send over 5000 text a month and it would get very messy haha

hope that helped

My take is, with many things like this, it's a matter of personal taste. The Mogul really is a beast and has everything--but if you don't need everything, and are willing to pay extra for the BB service, you can pick up the curve. Personally I'm a big BB fan, having owned many, but I agree with nctrevor24, in that the threaded texting on my Centro and previous Palm OS Treos has been invaluable. Another consideration is actual phone call quality. For me, I want a nice loud, clear earpiece and speakerphone...and my Centro and the Treo 755p both have that. All I've read about the Mogul is that the speakerphone volume is lousy--kind of disappointed a friend of mine, who was stunned how they couldn't include a decent speakerphone on a business-class device. It also reset on him often. The Palm OS isn't the most stable platform in the world, but it works very well and I've never had any major issues with it.

hi I see the phones you have had. I have never owned a smart phone. I really like the BBs but am looking at the Palm. What do you think is the best smart phone to start out with ? Thanks for your help.

I think it depends on the user. I am not a power user and just want internet and email with a stable phone that can work and be dependable. I have the Mogul and honsetly its a great phone when it works, but it almost never does. If I leave it on at night, by the morning its Frozen. I use the latest ROM and don't have any apps installed other than google maps. Sprint in a short sentence sucks after the 30 days they will not help you or replace your phone with a different make/model of similar or lesser value. Anyways they told me to call Asurion and I did that. Assurion is great she let me switch to a BB Curve, but it on a back order.

Hi there,
I think it's going to be a learning curve whether you go with the BB or the Palm OS, because you're moving to a smartphone for the first time. However, I think the Palm OS, overall, is easier to set up, to use and is more intuitive. One of the things I've hated about BlackBerry and Windows Mobile is that many settings, preferences, and options are buried and it takes more clicks or taps to do the same thing the Palm OS does easily. I'm not a advocate of either, per se, as we're all different. I say try out a Palm OS (Treo 755 or Centro) and then the BlackBerrys (8130 and 8330), and then decide which you're naturally drawn to. Which one "feels" right?

I have owned a Palm, a BB and 4 pocket PC phones. I feel the PPC phone is the best all around, with the most support and versatility. I liked the Blackberry but it is limited and the wheel gets irritating afer a while.
I originally had an Hitachi G1000?, and it was big. Then I had the BB. After the BB, I went through the 3 HTC 6700, Mogul and now the Touch. I liked the Mogul, but it was bulky and I don't do many text messages, so the keyboard was sort of wasted. It does have WiFi, but you don't need it if you have a data plan.
So, I vote for the Touch. So far, and especially after this most recent rom upgrade, it is ny favorite.

But for anyone comparing the 800w with the Curve, keep in mind that if you surf the internet a lot the 800w is A LOT better than the Curve's internet; atleast that's what I've heard. I think I might just get the 800w... It's tempting, and then I won't have to leave my little Palm security blankie... I just hope that the 800w doesn't crash as much as the previous Palm phones I've had... though maybe I just have bad luck..............

BBerries, stable and dependable, always on web but kinda slow, 3G speed, not vision or power vision,(kinda like a good hound dawg) WM devices are kinda cool, familiar layout and compatibility built in for windows extentions, similar crashing ability as most windows powered devices, (better sync it quick, we may have to RTN at any moment) Palm OS, fun friendly, stable, lots of software and tricks, (Happy Puppy) however will we ever get a new Palm device w/o windows?!?
Just my 2 cents worth . . . and with the declining value of the dollar . . . .
