Those of you who have successfully gotten Sprint to send you the Curve as a replacement for your World Phone, what method did you go about? I ask because I have an 8830 and it has the known issue of it constantly losing EVDO and data connection with the only remedy being to take the battery out and pop back in. This happens at least twice a day (can be as many as 5-10 times a day depending on data usage). I never had the problem with the 7130e nor did my ex with her 8703e. So I know it's just the 8830. I'm hoping the Curve won't have this problem. You're help is appreciated.

Is the 8330 currently on backorder or is that just what some retention reps are saying?

The 8830 and the loss of EVDO data service is a known issue at RIM. Sprint will be releasing a patch from RIM to correct that. They are also releasing a patch in the up comming weeks that will also correct the memory leak in the 8830. That is when the phones free memory disappears and dumps your call logs and email messages.

I have had that same problem and have been through 3 8830s as a result. I held off recently hoping they could do something for me when the curve came out. I emailed ecare today and told them the whole story and they put it on my account that I can walk into any sprint store and pay $50 for the 8330 (exchanging my 8830 in, of course). So, that is how it is going to work for me!

Yes I would love to know how to trade in my 8830 for the curve too. Cause lets be honest, most of us her will not be jetsetting anywhere anytime soon.

I used eCare. I ordered the phone via online and they sent the return kit for the 8830.

I have never had the memory leak problem until today. At first I did not know what happened and ironically enough stumbled on this thread and realized that what my phone did this morning is that exact issue.

This phone is a heckuva lot more stable than my 7100i was. Despite that I am on my third one and not too excited about my call logs and text messages randomly dissapearing.

Thanks for the reply. I tried unsucessfully on Friday to get retention to help me. I got them to give me the phone at the new user price, but was transfered before I was able to make the transaction then transfered 3 more times. Long story short. 1 hr wasted and no Curve. I will send an email to eCare to see if they can resolve. BTW, I had the memory leak happen to me a couple times last month. Wiped out my call log and txt msgs. Hasn't happened since.
