Yay!!! I pull into my driveway today and unplug my Pearl 8130 from the car charger. I happen to look at the signal indicator that normally just says "1X". Today, it says "1XEV". So I'm like NO SCHITT!!!!!!
I get inside, show my fiance, and she could care less. hahaha Figures.
I start double-guessing.... And I go to wireless manager and shut off mobile network. Turn it back on, EV comes back up and has been on ever since 9am CT. I'm glad I got notified of EV coming to town, but I don't care really, I'm just glad it's here!!!!
Sprint now has EVDO service in Galesburg, IL!!! Wooohoooo!!!

Ya know, I've been checking Sprint's coverage map online once a week for the past month or 2 and every time I check there is more EVDO coverage in my market. I'm pretty pleased, even though I'm not using EVDO on my phone. I do plan on upgrading to a BB or PDA phone soon so this is good Sprint is expanding the EVDO in my area.

Well folks, after some driving around..... I have EVDO in town and about 11 miles out either direction.
After that, 1X.
That sucks. However, I am getting rid of my Pearl (trading it to someone over on HowardForums) for a Mogul. Sweeet!
I just checked the coverage map again. Still not showing it on the map. Must be in testing or something.
MadGasser, did you ever get EVDO down there? I hope so because I have a feeling I'll be in Champaign sometime in the near future to go to the State of Illinois Full-Time Police Training Institute at U-OF-I.
Can't run a speedtest.net on my blackberry for some reason. I'm not messing with it, gonna trade it off and don't want to screw it up for the new owner!

I live in Bloomington and noticed last week that EVDO had turned on in Bloomington last Friday. I read on another forum that Springfield had also turned on a week earlier. Anyway, I drive to Champaign frequently and it has not yet been turned on there. On I-74, the EVDO fades around exit 149. Not sure about Peoria yet... Based on your comments, it looks like Peoria might not be on yet. But I'm guessing most of Central IL will be turned on very soon.

I woke up about 3am two weeks ago and i had evdo, i see why they must be putting a cap on it, Sprint is turning evdo on everywhere, and it seem to be running before that june 15 date

Baker as of right now no EV-DO is not on. People tell me it is coming but I am still waiting. Crossing fingers.

The rep at the Sprint Store on High St. said this coming September.
He didn't say it with much conviction, though.
Otherwise, you still need to go up to Waynesburg or Uniontown to get EVDO. :frustrate

assuming you're using the phone indicated in your profile, when you're using data, if the up/down triangles that show up are green, you're using regular vision (1xRTT) and if they're blue, you're using power vision (evdo).
