Hey, i have a vision on my plan and just upgraded to a powervision phone, the didn't have me upgrade to powervision so I was wondering, If i use my phone for internet will i get data charges because i don't have PV? or will i just not get PV speeds and options?

It should automatically upgrade to PV. But if it doesn't you wont get carged for data and it still should run at PV speeds

Not so. I just upgraded one of my lines that has free regular vision plan to a Centro. Plan add-ons still shows free regular vision plan, usage indicates unlimited data. And the phone runs at Power Vision speed. This phone was activated in Ensemble.
I could not do ESN swap on-line, so I called CS who did it for me and they never mentioned that I needed to change my vision plan to a PV plan.
I also have have a Treo 700p on another line with free vision (regular) plan (and a Samsung A900 before that - also a PV Phone), and it works fine as well at power vision speeds. This phone (and the Sammy) was activated in P2K.

You are right. Sprint's official policy is not to activate a PV device on a vision plan, but when you call up and ask for ESN swap, CS does not check what is you current plan and the system allows activation.
Interestingly, when I got my A900 (Jan 2006) and wanted to activate in the store, agent told me he had to switch me to a PV plan which would remove my free vision and unlimited texts. I would have to pay $15 for PV and $10 for texts to get the same features. I refused the in-store activation, came home, called up CS and did ESN swap in 2 minutes with no questions asked.

That's because you were in P2K at the time. Ensemble will not allow activation of PV equipment with a non-PV plan, the system knows the difference.
If a is swap done in Ensemble the agent is either going to convert you or simply remove the vision plan and you get screwed with casual data.

That's correct, even if you are in a non-PV area you still have a PV package because you have a PV device, the phone will default to 1x when EVDO is not present.

I believe you can have a vision plan on a power vision device, but your not *supposed* to.

A900 - Radio Shack
Treo 700P - CompUSA
Centro - Sprint Online (upgrade)

A900 and later, 700P in P2K on the main line
Centro - Ensemble on AAP (2 days ago)
All activations done over the phone.
Centro Data usage shows unlimited vision usage, plan add-ons indicate "vision plus pack" as before Centro was activated (this line had Sanyo 4930 - non-PV phone before). No casual data usage at all. So it seems that Ensemble does allow a PV phone activation on a regular Vision plan contrary to all I've heard.

Not with an Ensemble activation, it won't let you. In P2K it would, and if you were migrated after it was added then it would most times leave it on, unless they ran a script to remove it. Ensemble only checks for compatibility issues when features are added.

Are you sure you are in Ensemble yet? Sounds like you might still be in P2K. See my post above.

Can you explain what you mean by "screwed.....?" What exactly is 'casual data (I have EV-DO casual as a no-cost add-on to my vision plan on which i use a Mogul).
I have a Free and Clear w/unlimited vision plan, added merely days prior to the switch to Ensemble. However, the plan is supposed to include unlimited power vision. When various Reps AND Tech Sup attempted to add the Power Vision as an add-on, the system kept kicking it back out as it clashed with the unlimited vision which was already included in the base plan. When I inquired as to whether the fact that my data feature was labeled vision and not power vision would, in fact, have an affect on the capabilities and performance of my hardware (phone), I was told "Yes, the label vision would, in fact slow down the performance of my phone. And it did. My Mogul stayed in 1X for quite a while.
So the result, after many attempts was to add EV-DO casual, Telenav, and Sprint TV each as separate and individual features as no-cost add-ons. The system accepted it and that seemed to do the trick. And now, based upon your referral to "casual data" in such a negative light, I'm wondering if having ones data feature added via such a label is a negative in some way.

Migrated in March. Already received 2 Ensemble - style bills, had to re-register for online account access, have 9 digit account number, have links next to each of my phones to swap ESN online, have collapsable add-ons next to each of my phones - am I on Ensemble or not?
See attached screen shot showing Centro's add-ons - including regular vision pack. BTW, add-ons view is only available in Ensemble.

The Sprint Unlimited Vision Pack is being placed on EVDO phones. Is it possible that one code is both a vision / pv code?

Last week I did an ESN change from a Treo 650 to a Touch, no change in Vision plan was needed and I'm on Ensemble .
