Our daughter uses the free AOL Mobile IM app (not the $3.99/mo one) on her Muziq and gets sent an SMS alert every time someone replies to an IM. These count against her monthly total, and she wants to know if there is a way to turn these alerts off. We can't find out how/where to tell it not to send SMS alerts. I don't think there is a way unless she goes to the 3.99/mo. version.

Thanks. I'll suggest that to her and see if it works.

tell here to sign off.
I'm not clear on how that would be a solution.
Last night I just suggested she subscribe to the 3.99/mo. version.
I've got IM on my Centro and it displays IM conversations in a threaded format without notifying me by SMS every time someone sends me an IM reply. I assume that is how the pay version works as well. That might be the best way for her to go. She uses it with an out-of-state friend and me. All the SMS replies wound up pushing her over her text message limit on our last billing period.

well if you tell it to sign off it should stop sending you SMS messages. but when you subscribe to the 5$ a month verson it downloads the AIM program to your phone.

I did a google search, but I remember there was a lengthy article on how to sign in/ sign off AIM using text messages
Signing Off
To sign off from the AIM service, complete the following steps:
Send a new message to the AIM-SignOff command [4647].
In the message body, type the word "off" and then send the message. A text message will return confirming that you have signed off from the AIM service.
Edit: found the article "http://256.com/gray/docs/sms_aim/im_user_guide.pdf"
