Well, here is the situation...

I am still on my Samsung a680 phone that I have had for > 4years, and went into the store to switch to the m520. However, the in-store tech was unable to switch due to my plan having a credited Vision rather than Power Vision.

I signed a new contract January 2007 when Sprint was offering SERO to everyone, and even though the person I talked to was unable to get me into SERO, gave me a similar priced plan.

FF 450 - $40
500 SMS - Free
Nights/Wkends 7pm - FREE
Unlimited Vision - $5
Picture Mail - FREE
25% employer discount

Its not a great plan (compared to some of ya'lls), but its good for me (I don't ever get close to my minute or sms limits). When agreeing to this contract, I made sure and asked about issues when upgrading my phone from Vision to Power Vision, and he said no problem, it will be the same $5 due to SERO that he was matching has Vision/Power Vision for the same.

Here is the problem - now that I am trying to switch phones (finally), they are not sticking with the Vision/Power Vision switched I had agreed to, and are wanting to charge me for standard Power Vision services. So.. any advice or tips ya'll care to share about how best to upgrade my phone?

I also looked at the new $69.99 450min Everything plans, and if I could get it down to $40 or so after discounts, I would possibly go that route.

Contact the department that gave you the deal, and explain to them how the deal that was giving to you is connected to your current2 year contract. That alone should get the issue solved for you.

Getting the current $69.99 Simply Everything plan down to around $40 is not going to happen, so get that one out of your head.

I recently had the same problem. Had a F&F plan with yada yada ... $5/unlmited REGULAR vision.

Was looking to upgrade to a Smartphone and worked a deal as part of my contract renewal that I would be given $5/month for unlimited POWER vision due to the phone capabilities.

Like you, when the time came, no deal. I was persistent with whomever I talked to. It was finally "fixed" by an ecare Chat representative and *poof*

unlimited Power Vision $5/month.

Just be polite, persistent, firm, etc. and they'll honor their word. Don't be rude. Just make sure you were told that you would receive it and that was part of the reason you are considering extending your contract.

Good luck.

P.S. By the way, I had a Samsung A680 a while back. Great phone. Took a beating and still worked like a charm. Since that phone, I'll swear by Samsung simply for their durability. After the 860, I upgraded to the A900 and eventually, the Samsung ACE (I hope this one is as durable as the last two).

This is another reason I wish there were only PV phones. It would help streamline things with data plans and keep reps from being confused when it's time to switch from one type of plan to the other.

Thanks for the info! I had emailed ecare and been back and forth with one of the guys there, but he seemed to keep getting confused, or giving me candid responses (any mention of SERO) or something. I figured I would check for advice here before making the call.

As for my a680, yea, I am not having any problems with it and it is still in great shape. I was looking at upgrading a while back to the 610, but then they stopped selling it about the time I was ready to make the switch. Now I am looking at the 520, and had a coupon with some incentives that I was planning to take advantage of, until I ran into this snag.

I guess I will try calling and explaining that my current contract was agreed upon with the condition that I could upgrade to Power Vision at no extra cost.
