As some of you know, i attended a sprint/RIM siminar today. if your in the kansas city area, there is another one at 5:30 tonight.

Any how, i got to hold the curve for say 10 minutes. played with it and what not. i must say.... it feels good. i was able to snap two pictures, but only one came out good. i snaped it quick using my pearl while he wan't looking. i didn't know for sure or not if it was allowed so i didn't ask to take more. here is a picture.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y102/codi860/IMG00003.jpg
The good news is i was able to talk to him a little before the show and a while afterwards. i did get some info from him that i would like to share.
he said that the issues with the 8330 WERE FIXED. he new this for sure. he is a RIM rep for the sprint carrier ONLY. He said for sure that the issue was fixed a little over a week ago and that it was just a matter of time until sprint had there envintory up enough to release it. i told him my whole story about the dates we heard and he laughed. he said i know, it was crazy. he also said rest assured that we will see it long before june 1st. he thought it would be something like the first or second week of may. the release date is all up to sprint, but the RIM part of working with sprint fixing the issue was fixed.
now he is a sales rep for RIM on the sprint carrier. when i asked him what the delay was over, he said that he thought it was a software issue and security. he didn't want me to quote him on that though.
now i must say the guy played it very cool. when i first saw him i walked up and said " is that the sprint curve"? he looked at his partner, smiled and said... yeah. he was shocked that i allready knew as much about it as i did. when i first started asking hime questions he just said something like... "they keep all that type stuff confidential. the best way to do that is not to tell me". more or less saying he didn't know. at the siminary started he soon realized that i know as much about rim as he did. he even said that to me when we talked later. although, later is when he started telling me the good stuff that he did.
he didn't give me a date on it for sure, as he really doesn't know nor care really. he just said the the issues were fixed quite a while ago and that we should see it VERY SOON. my guess after talking to him is MAY 4th.
just wanted to share, cody

I went to a training course for employees held by RIM for Sprint a while ago, and got to talk to the instructor about the Curve. This was before there was any major news about it, just the pictures of the extra RAM and Sprint logo boot-up screen.
I asked when it was coming out, and he laughed and said probably around April 17th. A few days later Brightpoint released the initial launch date of April 17th (soft) and April 20th (hard).
So, the guy that Cody talked to is probably in the know like the guy I spoke with was, and I'd trust this information over anything E-care or Customer Service or even reps like me say at this point.
In the end though, it's still he-said, she-said, but I'd put my chips with the guy doing the seminar with the actual Sprint Curve in his hand. :hee:

Also wanted to point out two things:
One, if I was in cody's shoes, I wouldn't even have the courage or foresight to snap a picture of the thing to show everyone, that in itself was very cool.
Secondly, I browse the Crackberry thread about the Curve, and this forum is LIGHTYEARS ahead of them in information. They all thought it was still coming on the 20th ON the 20th. They were pretty sure of themselves. I think, by far, this is the forum with the most up-to-date information on everything, so I thought that in itself is cool.

I would have to wait till next year to get my $150 discount so I have been prepared to pay more for the phone. I will probably not have a $150 rebate for a long time b/c I'll probably switch my curve with something else before time is up.

About the color....
It was no where near green. The black is more of what I would describe as a plastic with the color black mixed into it. In other words, it was not the glossy black we got on the 8830 and 8130. It was not a black paint.
The front had a lot of black to it but the sides and back were more gray. I would say over all it was gray with black instead of black with gray.
One thing I would like to say is it was possibly the best feeling phone in hand I have ever felt. It just felt good. The curves felt close to the treo 750 680 but better.
All I can say is it can't get hear fast enough.
I'm glad you guys didn't slam on me for not taking more pics or better pics. I was scared I would get busted and not be able to keep any. I figured anything was better than nothing.

And since he was a sprint guy, I figured I would also ask about the picture mail. He said that for the first time in as long as he can remember, sprint is really active on trying to get this on there blackberries. He said it was looking good. He did end that topic with it was more in sprints hands than RIM's. RIM can do there part no problem, it's sprints end that they need to still work on.

CodyBB first and foremost I would like to thank you, it's people like you who go out of there way to help us SprintUsers get our hands on any bit of information/pictures that normally wouldn't be available that keeps a community like this going.
While it looks fantastic, and I agree it can't get here fast enough I'm really confused at the color. The way it looked on the Sprint site was more of a extremely dark shade of gray, almost black with the screen border almost blending in with the paint job (which looks really good) now it's more of a medium gray look. Seems kind of bland.

i would say no. dont buy it yet. i do believe the led has been moved a little from the gsm versions. this will meen that there will be a 8330 version available soon.
FYI... and For example. when the sprint touch came out, lots of people went out and bought accessories before they got the phone. the changers and batteries were fine, but the things like those gel skin protectors, crystal cases, ect didn't fit. there was a small change in size between the gms version and the cdma version. they were pissed.
on the cdma curve i do believe they have not changed the size at all, but things like the led may have. i wouldn't just the gun too quick. unless you like to return stuff.
also things like keyboard, side buttons, ect may look the same to use, but....
all i know is that i am waiting. the other cdma curves being out allready should help companies like bestskinever and seidio get going with the 8330 versions.

Just played with the Sprint Curve and it is supposed to be the final launch unit. Said should be available around mid-May. It was platinum silver color around with black buttons. I was also told that a red version would come out in another month or so. It was said that no black is in the plan.
Don't know how accurate is the information but the info I got regarding the Mogul last year was dead on. FWIW, I also played with the Samsung Instinct at the same time.

It sure doesn't look like the sprint curve in all the posters and informational material. I don't think the one you played with was for Sprint unless it was a pre-production model. Which that very well could be. Even the Curve Matt Ryan used during the NFL draft was of a dark color (black looking).

I know, I saw that too. However, like CodyBB had wrote, the one he played with did not have Sprint Radio and the one I played with did. That tells me that I was holding a later test model. It is all possible that the black one is pre-production and the plat/silver is pre-launch. I was specifically told that there is no black in the lineup (plat/silver to start and red in another month) but the guy may be bluffing me.
Like I said, we will all know in 2 weeks. I am willing to wager 500SU$ on platinum silver, especially the picture on Sprint.com is very dated.

Yea, those posters were printed months ago when they were still playing with pre-production units. The actual color would not be decided until they are at least getting to a RTM ROM.
I like the black, just not optimistic about it as I played with a plat/silver one on Apr 30th with what seems to be a final ROM and the unit was activated.

I will take you up on that wager. 500SU$
You have the Titanium Silver
I have the Black/Dark Silver
Deal?

your 100% right on the fact that the one that i held DID NOT have radio. music store is not radio. you could say that it was the same as the sprint pearl with the sprint stuff being.... store, tv, music. NO RADIO.
i would love to see radio, but i would bet you on the fact that it wont have it. $50 bucks.
as far as the color. that's hard to do. too many versions of black. i will say that the one that i held was NO WHERE NEAR the at&t version (silver) so if you are saying that it will be that color (same as at&t) then i will take that bet as well.
i will say that it wasn't as dark as the pictures that we see from the sprint site. i will say that everything looks a little different than in pictures.
before you start betting everyone.... remember i saw it right beside the rodgers version. the rodgers version is like the at&t version. bigg difference. even from 30 feet away.

3. silver

You mean SU$. 100SU$ is way far from half the cost of a Curve. Only SU$ on color and SU$ on radio. Note the color in the RIM link above. Sprint = 3, plat/silver, not as silver as the AT&T and with mostly black keys.

The one I played with had the yellow Sprint logo on that middle section below the space bar. That's the color I am wagering on. Actually, after looking at it for a while, the darker black color looks cool but the plat./silver seems to have a more business attire (IMHO of course).

Yes, titanium is a darker color closer to black. Platinum/silver is much lighter closer to a light grey. The distinguishing marks will be the black keys, unlike the TMO Curve with the light grey/silver keys.
BTW, mike068, I do think there is a chance for 5/11 but I am guessing 5/18 or beyond. To make the 5/11 date, Sprint would have to have the unit all sku'd up by this week and the information would definitely leak out.

Maybe SU can do a Sprint Curve color guessing contest. Losers will pony their SU$ to a pool for the Mods to give out to needy users wanting to be Premier. Winners will get a feature from the SU store up to the equivalent of the SU$ they wager.

What makes you think Sprint will skip the radio? At least I saw it on the test unit, so Sprint at least has a good intention to put it on.
I was told the delay had something to do with getting both Sprint TV and Radio to work stable. If Sprint decides to pull the Radio, then something is still not working right on the unit.

i guess the answer here is that i didn't know enough about sprint tv. the only devices that i had it on was the mogul (hacked) and the touch. neither of these two devices had any radio stations inside sprint tv. what i think i now understand is that some versions of sprint tv have radio stations in side the app. i though it was a different/ seperate app. one tv and one radio.
so aau007, it looks like you were right. i didn't look inside the sprint tv app on the device i saw. you may have. dario says it does so i think you win.

To me, it is still a mystery. No one has ever claimed to have held or seen the actual phone that will be shipped. Sprint is tight lipped about the color and the the black Curve in the posters are just 'pictures'. Obviously, we don't have the Sprint or RIM product manager pitching in on SU either. Therefore, until the box is uncovered, no one can really say for sure what color it is going to be.
