I have a Sanyo 8200 and am thinking of upgrading to a Centro. I just got off the phone with Radioshack and they told me that I would need to upgrade to the $99 unlimited data package to insure I don't incur extra charges on my Centro. My current plan has 1300 minutes and includes Picture Mail and unlimited Vision for $60. I don't text and won't be using the Centro to download movies (but will I?) If I want to use Versamail is there an extra charge? What if I just open docs from my webmail?

If your Vision plan is actually a PowerVision plan, the Centro can use that. If you won't need all of the extra features of the SE plan, then I wouldn't spend the extra money. A Power Vision plan is all you need.

VersaMail is accessed using your Power Vision plan (no extra charge). Same for accessing webmail docs.

How do I know if I have a Power Vision Plan. My plan is so old I believe it was the original vision/picturemail $15 package.

If you are paying $15 for an old Vision plan, you can just update to the Power Vision Access Pack. It is the same price ($15) and includes picture mail. You can try and see if they will give you a discount on the Power Vision. Some people have luck with that, and it never hurts to ask.
How do you KNOW which type of Vision you have? Your bill should either call it Vision "something" or Power Vision "something" (there are several versions). If it just says Vision. it is not Power Vision. That's how it is on my bill, anyway. I have four lines with PV and one with regular Vision.

When I got my Centro they switched me to the Power Vision plan in the store -- same $15 charge I had for regular Vision on my old phone, which I only had so I could send/receive pics (it has been really great finally having a phone that fully takes advantage of that $15) .
That's all you need. The email use is covered under web usage. You don't need text messages unless you actually use them, and then you can get them for $0-15. So, there's no reason to be paying 100 bucks.

Also, I don't think you can download movies to your phone. It won't let you download really huge files but you can download them to your computer and then add/sync them to your phone, saving them to your microSD card.
You might consider checking out the Temporary Centro Forum here, I think it' Laucifer (spelling is probably wrong) that has a Centro website with movies and a lot of other stuff for the Centro.
