I made this one b/c the other is getting long and since it is the 20th for me when posting and the phone is not on the site, lets have all information that does not fit into the other threads here.

Please keep this on topic. I already gave warning in the last and that carries over to this.

Enjoy :)

When the Touch, Mogul and 8830 all released they posted to the website at midnight central, (I purchased all 3 on day one, I know thats sick).

So it should have been there by now, wondering what other phones would have released today to see if they are there.

i have been bored with my pearl for quite some time, i just lurked the curve section, and have a line thats upgrade eligible

I got rid of my Mogul (sent it back to Sprint), and my main 2 lines finally became upgrade eligiable this month...

Went to the Sprint store to get my wife a Pearl, and decided to check the 8830... loved it. Got it... But then a few times last week realized having no camera actually sucks (you never know what you have until you lose it).

Really really really hoping for the Curve today.

all of the evidence smacks of a confusion with the red curve release date of June 1. With the stores getting displays put up and the engadget posting, it points to the end of April.

What is confusing though is the increase in price of the 8830 from $179 to $219? Maybe it is a rebate expiring thing or something, but, something is afoot and I think we won;t have to wait until June. I might anyway since I want the red one!

ditto...the rep i just talked to said that they are "corporate" store and if it was coming out today, they would have had it in store last night...she had heard it was delayed, but didn't know until when.

this sucks...if they delay it until June 1st and the Instinct comes out that same day, i'm going to go nuts trying to decide between the two. i really wanted to get the Curve, fall in love, and not have to worry when the Instinct comes out :).

engadget mobile, Curve displays at the stores, the initial press release.........the hearsay that is claiming June 1st is not unanimous and conflicts with the other hearsay of a June 1 date for the red curve.

Ok first we don't who engadget mobile source is. Yeah the displays are in the stores but the initial press release was announced around 2 weeks before we started to hear any delays. The delay was last minute from what we can tell so that would still make sense. Curve displays were in b/c the original date was the 20th yet it was delayed.

I would love for it to come out this month but there really isnt enough evidence to say "for sure" that it will come this month or June 1st either.

It is a waiting game now.

I also want to see someone post pictures of the Curve displays. I would like to see what they look like.

The instinct is targetted towards the same crowd as iPhone customers. The BB Curve is a bridge between the Pearl and the 8830, as it blends elements from both. I suspect the majority of Curve buyers will be corporate users who also want to have a weekend phone solution, all in one. Like...me. ;)

My wife, for instance, is a Pearl user, and she thinks the Curve is too big...

Just got off with retentions

as usual - it took calling a few times to find the right person

Got the 8830 for $211 with a free upgrade to the curve whenever it comes out, even after 30 days

I had rep email with confirmation of notes in the acct.

Happy now... can wait patiently for the curve

If you do this - just mention the letters you have from ecare or chat confirming 4/20 launch

How can I get that to happen? (Get a phone now and swap it for a Curve when the Curve is released?)

Yeah - they offered me the same deal, but with the Pearl. I really like the 8830 because of the larger screen and the qwerty keyboard, but I like the Pearl for the camera. Sheesh - when did we become so dependent on phone features!?:frustrate

Pretty decent deal to last until the Curve comes out. Thought about doing this. The Touch has got to go ASAP. I really wish Sprint would be able to get it's act together. It's not a big deal that they had to push the release back either due to supply or software issues, I think that was a wise move. What gets me is that for whatever reason they couldn't pass this information through it's corporation. This lead to mass confusion for everyone. Even the day before it was launched. That is intolerable for a company. But I'll live and get over it.

I think they won't say anything anytime soon, since it's buzzed to come out and they will sell out quick.

Also, speaking of MMS, I was playing around on my Pearl in the Help section, and found something about how to send an MMS. But the menus aren't enabled. They shouldn't put that in the help section of the phone, if it's a feature that isn't offered due to the carriers lack of common sense.

Yea that $70 500 min plan is looking tempting, with BES even, only $10 more than SERO. My wife gets discount with them so drop it even further. With the my circle I would cover my sprint buddies. One thing I can't seem to add/price is txt messages, are they included on the BB?

Does anyone think the Sprint delay was due to the addition of the 4.5 OS to the Curve? Perhaps they are having problems with that. I believe the software for the Pearl and the Curve are very similar. I don't know why they would delay it for 4.3, unless they are installing version 4.5 on it.

you know. i have been afraid to say it, but i was thinking the same thing. the pearl/curve are two close to have big problems with. know one ever siad which carrier would get 4.5 first.

i would love to see them(sprint) delay it for wanting to include something like this. even mms would be sweet.

to just say they had problems with the normal 4.3 os is weird.

Does anyone know where thier coverage map is? :irked:

Cause it's not on thier site, what the hell kinda company doesn't post thier coverge on thier site :thought:

I believe MMS is the reason the Phone has been delayed. Sprint ususally never delays a phone to the likes of VZW. And the Delay comes around the same time they plan to release an MMS update for all WM and BB phones.

I so my money is this was the reason the curve was pulled and delayed. For that I will wait.

I highly doubt that the Curve will be shipped with 4.5. The GSM carriers almost always get the new OS before any of the CDMA carriers. 4.2 for the 8703e was just released within the past few months whereas the GSM version was out for at least 6+ months prior.

You know I looked at the Alltel plans and I must say it's not that bad.

Sprint has until the Alltel launch. In Omaha, Sprint coverage is good however it's a fact Alltel has the best coverage in Nebraska in general as they where one of the original Analog carriers here (Omaha Cellular and Lincoln Telephone Cellular).

I intended to go Simply Everything (If my discount sticks) however the Alltel deal is pretty good too, and I can auctually get it!

The discount doesn't disappear within Ensemble and no they don't remove it, it just isn't applied to the Simply Everything ($99) plan on the line. Just like for those who have corporate discounts and TEP.... they still have the discount, it just isn't applied to that specific add-on.

Not me, I was contemplating getting the Curve if it came out early enough (like yesterday) and hold off on the instinct. But if the release date is the same might as well save my money especially if I save $30/month of data plan and I can get my picture/video mail. I think they call it, having your cake and eating it too.

I love smart phones and even though the BB may be more "business" directed, I know more kids with Pearls than I do adults. So you can look at it either way.

"Here's the meat from the now is good website:
"Purchase of the Instinct requires activation on an Everything plan, starting at $69.99. Existing customers can switch to Everything plans without extending their contract. New line activations require a two-year agreement. Instinct requires an Everything plan for key features to function appropriately. Customers currently may not switch to a service plan for the Instinct other than an Everything plan."

Well according to this it looks like a lose lose situation for me. If I switch to the Curve, I might as well go for an SEP to include BIS if I to go through all that trouble. Wouldn't be that big of a deal if I didn't have extra lines. :frustrate

I thought the Curve supported MMS. E-mailing pics to people sucks, because not everyone has e-mail to their phone. And circumventing the matter is time consuming. I really need the option to do MMS. That's why I want to get rid of my Mogul. Sprint is making me want to leave. Everyone else I know that has a BB on other carriers can do MMS. The only attraction right now is the calling plan, because you don't have to have a separte BB data plan with the Simple Everything plan.

I should have stated, the official 4.3.x was just made available for download last night.

I can't validate the Telus software version as the 8330 is not listed on their dropdown on the BB site.

AT&T & Rogers are currently running 4.2.x software on their curve handsets. I can't validate T-Mobile since I don't have a # to access their download site.

You'll notice that the CDMA carriers usually fall behind the GSM ones when it comes to software updates. This may be the first time its the other way around.

The price increase on the phones isto prepare the market for the insertion of the new handsets. A larger price difference on a new handset to ad older model will always make the purchase of the new model more gratifying.

Someone at the Crackberry forums posted a picture of the poster. That's either good news, or the store is promoting the phone prematurely.

They shipped new graphics for all the stores and one of the graphics thats in the section where the Curve will be planogrammed has a big picture of the Curve on it. Again, all this stuff was planned months ago before they knew the Curve was going to be delayed.

Just called my Sprint store and spoke with the manager. It will not be out on the 24th. They do not have the shipments in at all. She told me to call back on Friday when they usually get their shipments in. She sounded like she felt bad it wasn't out and that she told me they dont have it.

I had my Girlfriend call as well and they told her middle of May and a cost of $320 before $100 MIR.

LOL. The irony of this post is that GTA4 was supposed to come out back in October of last year and was pushed back to April 29th of this year.

But at least on 4/25 we know that Rockstar isn't going to "magically experience software issues" and push it back to a TBD date. :td:

Also at least with Rockstar we know what games they are working on and they tell us when there is a delay and why. It's not like Sprint who keeps us under a rock until 15mins before the phone is launched.

I was hot and heavy for the curve...the longer I wait the more I experience a decrease in lust for it personally....I will probably still get one since 2 lines will get new pricing...as per executive service notes due to my half azz migration that lost all upgrade dates

Side note we want things now but the ironic thing is if the phone was released with issues...this forum would be lit up like a xmas tree with complaints about the quality and the waste of money it was....

I have been wanting to replace my dying Mogul for some time and have been anxiously watching the Curve. Here is every release date that I have heard from TeleSales, in-store reps, and my Business Account Representative.

April 16th (web)
April 17th (in-store)
April 20th (web)
By the end of April (in-store)
Sometime in May (Telesales)
Mid-May (Telesales)
End of May (Telesales/web)
June 1st (from my Business Account Rep this morning)

My Rep told me that Sprint really does not know when exactly this phone is coming out and that they are telling people June 1st. He also said there is an issue they are sorting out that is holding up the release. I don't remember specifically what he said so I won't fuel the speculation with inaccurate information.

The folks in TeleSales all have conflicting information and the in-store reps I've spoken to have absolutely no clue what is going on with this phone.

So...who knows...hopefully soon because this Mogul is going to get run over if it continues to prevent me from answering calls all the time.

I have hearing and reading from a bunch of places June 1 but recently read here and some place else the April 24. I am not sure when and I don't think anyone else does ether so I guess when it does come out we will know at that point and go from there. But I hope its soon because I cant stand these junk Katana DLX's any more and I have a good deal setup for myself.

Here's my question. With the "technical issues" still seemingly unresolved, what is the reasonable timeframe to expect the product to become available once things are resolved?

Even if the hard product is done, they will need to load software, complete packaging, and ship to the right stores/warehouses. Likey that the units are already in the US, but may need to wait on shipping/customs/etc from Canada...

This delay may be longer than expected.

My sprint rep and store manager and CSO have informed me first week of may or last week of this month and pricing is going to be around $600. Probably $400-$450 with a $100 MIR is what im guessing so same price as the mogul atleast thats what im thinking.

Don, Get a life! I congradulate you on your ability to google the word "Slander" you are SO smart!

If your goal in life is to attempt to annoy others then I feel sorry for you! People like you are born loosers and will die loosers as you spend your life creating attention to help make yourself feel important. A true consumer advocate investigates by going through the purachase process and then posts their findings. Your posting on Crackberry makes you look like an *****! Your sentences are incomplete and words are mispelled and in the end consumers do their own investigating.

Holy CR*P guys, I've been waiting for this phone also and although I don't condone jumping ship to AT&T I thought everyone would want to know about this. Today and today only, Amazon is selling all AT&T phones for one penny $0.01. The curve actually has a $75 rebate so they PAY YOU $74.99 to get the phone with a new activation!!! Check out this link or just go to Amazon and click on cell phones.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_6742582_2?ie=UTF8&docId=1000221951&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=right-1&pf_rd_r=1QHA4STC5512W5RHJPMH&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=388299401&pf_rd_i=301185

If I was going to goto the torture of AT&T (gsm+edge) I would to a Tmobile so I get the WiFi version with the WiFi calling!

Another note is Letstalk has the Alltel version for $179 or $79 AR if you want a CDMA EVDO flavor. I know in Omaha you can get a $69 450min plan with BES included!

If I was going to goto the torture of AT&T (gsm+edge) I would to a Tmobile so I get the WiFi version with the WiFi calling!

Same here. If i was to jump the ship i would go with TMO.

OMG, you guys won't believe what happen today.

Today, I went to the Sprint store to check up on the Curve and I saw Curve posters that is put up. I went to the Sprint employee and asked if the Curve is here yet. The girl says yes it's here. I couldn't believe it! I was so excited, I wanted to run down a open meadow with my curve and serenade it. When the Sprint employee came out, my heart was beating that it almost exploded, I've been waiting for the Curve to come out in Sprint for so long. As she lay down that beautiful yellow/black box on the counter. My heart crushed and exploded, not because of happiness but in disappointment. It was a friggin' 8830 World Edition! I asked her if she was kidding me and she said, "No I am not, isn't this the BlackBerry Curve you wanted?". I thought she was really kidding me, I asked her to come to the poster and asked her if it looked the same. She was so embarrassed, she was getting red all over and sweaty too. She had nothing else to say. I was so disappointed, I wanted to throw a little person that's in the store across the room. I talked to the manager how one of his employee doesn't know how a Curve looks like. He replied with, "She's new here." I shrugged and said, "Oh, well you should give her a picture book of Sprint phones and make her study." I left the store mumbling to myself and with loads of candy in my pocket that I took from the counter.

Horrible!

Stores wont have it before telesales does. When the Curve is released, you'll see it all over here before stores begin selling it.

Holy CR*P guys, I've been waiting for this phone also and although I don't condone jumping ship to AT&T I thought everyone would want to know about this. Today and today only, Amazon is selling all AT&T phones for one penny $0.01. The curve actually has a $75 rebate so they PAY YOU $74.99 to get the phone with a new activation!!! Check out this link or just go to Amazon and click on cell phones.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_6742582_2?ie=UTF8&docId=1000221951&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=right-1&pf_rd_r=1QHA4STC5512W5RHJPMH&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=388299401&pf_rd_i=301185

SU dollars are appreciated!! I am personally probably going to wait since I have a relatively good plan with Sprint and it is the only provider that works at my parents house.

Also if you walk into ATT and say you have Sprint service they will give you the same deals....

I would call sprint and let them know what your intentions are for the 8830. Some people have been able to make arrangement with sprint to trade their 8830 for 8330 when it came out.

i wouldn't worry about it. i bet you'll see it with in the 25 days.

I haven't been able to get eCare to honor the exchange after 30 days. Should I just get the 8830 and risk it? You sound very confident of the updated release date. I guess todays seminar helped....??

the release date isnt official but still its only a week away why risk gettin a phone that you wouldnt want and getting stuck with it instead of waiting for the curve??? and even if that new date comes and goes dont you think we would get some type of official word on whats goin on and when its coming out by that time so you kno better what ur options are

Risk it. if all else fails, call them at you day 28. Tell them... I am returning it one way or another. Do you want to sell me a phone? Then sell me the curve.

That what I would do. It there fault for getting all excited with the 4/1 announcement saying this month. What did they expect use geeks to do?

True..... I'll prob wait until 5/5 or sometime within that week. I'm sure by that time we should know a little more. I'll hang in there....but its very difficult....the good thing is that i'm out for a cruise on 5/1 for 5 days and maybe that will keep my mind off of the curve....... :fingers: maybe....

ok guys i just had an epiphany lol... the phone has to come out in less then 36 days that is if the instinct is still on for the 1st of june think about it logically the phone and merchandising was already sent to the stores to be set in this planogram change but if a new phone that isnt included in this pog is released then it would force a new pog and sprint already said they want us to merchandise the phone as soon as we get it so it has to be out in the next month :frustrate it was too much common sense that we all over looked that lol

Just received some wordage on the Curve:
Basically says NO PRICE TAGS or FACT TAGS should be on display right now in the stores.

"The launch date for this device is still TBD"

Then it says when the device launches, we are to merchandise the price tags that reflect a 179.99 price point after all rebates.

So, it's what we knew all along about the 179.99. As Next Steps pointed out in one of these threads, the price tags are wrong from time to time, and this was in fact the case. 179.99 is pretty much official now between this e-mail and the original press release.

I would almost wonder if the TBD is not a "We don't know how long it will be" but instead a "We don't know how short it will be" because why put a June 1 date then they come in early and mass confustion over "Should I sell this or wait till June 1?"

I just hope Alltel doesn't beat Sprint to the release of the device.

No longer, BB has made it an add-on with its latest OS. Just another example of how they are always trying to provide us with a great all-around device.

If I remember correctly, RIM has a license agreement with the makers of PocketMac for BB so they can provide it to BB owners free of charge. If you ask me, RIM has their act together when it comes to continually improving and providing support and functionality to their customer base.

Phone is just delayed because of software. They're making sure that ALL phone releases are 100% or damn close to it. Sprint doesn't want another LG Rumor type fiasco on their hands.
