This is great. I called up retentions because I was due to upgrade my phone, and renew my contract. I was looking at the ic902 by Motorola; which is a PowerSource/Hybrid phone.
I have been a longtime customer, and I have a very nice (at least I like it) Retention plan on the CDMA side of the network... which I didn't want to loose. But at the same time I wanted the Nextel DirectConnect. So I made a few calls around, finally got in touch with Hybrid Support, and they looked at my account and said "Sure we can!"; so they notated my account!
Now, when I recieve my ic902 I can just call Hybrid Support and get the phone put on my account. Then get the $5.00 DirectConnect add-on put on my plan. Therefore I will have a CDMA Retention plan, with a Hybrid phone (ic902), and the $5.00 DirectConnect add-on feature!
I don't know if anyone else knew, but now I do - Hybrid/PowerSource phones can be put onto normal CDMA plans, and then you just have to add the $5.00 DirectConnect feature to use the PTT feature!
I am very happy - I just had to share!

They still lied to you, think about that for a minute. "Hybrid can be put on normal CDMA plans". If that was true, we'd have a world right now where Hybrid shares with Sprint, but it doesnt on powerpack plans. All Hybrid codes may be equivelent to the new plans, but require different code.. I'm like Solodogg, I'll believe it when I see it.

Okay, I called up Order Support today and here is what they told me.
My device will be shipped TOMMOROW (April 22nd) which is Tuesday. And I will recieve the device on April 23rd, Wednesday. So it will be a day later than expected - but it works out better for me this way, so...

I had the IC902 before switching to my Q9C. It was the biggest headache of my life. I experienced many gliches with my phone itself with after reading others had. The service itself was phone threw sprint and direct connect threw nextel. When I upgraded to my Q9C in January there was a known network issue where texting was a problem between sprint and nextel customers(at least this is what they told me). I being on the "hybrid" network and my girlfriend being fully on nextel. I would text her and sometimes she would get the text right away and others she might not get for 8-9 hours. I also had to call about once a month to have something cleared out or my settings reset. It was a nightmare. But like I said that was only my experience. I hope you have a better one.

Got a very competant rep who knew what she was doing. She activated the plan doing all the required things to put a Hybrid on a CDMA plan. And then it wouldn't go through to the phone because of an internal error in the plan.
So they put up a Click-It-Ticket, and it will be resolved within 24 hours (of 5:30PM EST, on the 22nd so will be done 5:30ish EST, 23rd). She is going to call me back then, and continue the activation of the unit with me - since she had the plan/phone/SIM added to the account.
So yes, Hybrid on a CDMA plan is possible!

nah, i still say it's not. the reason she got an error was because she was trying to add the hybrid onto a cdma plan. otherwise, everyone would have this...and have both unlimited dc and unlimited n/w

Come to find out its just a backlogging in provisioning... should be fixed by tommorow.

sounds about right. my new cycle started and it's taken like two days and then some for it the minutes to apply correctly and they said it was a provisioning thing too.

if this is the case, i am going to order an ic902 as soon as i hear it works. having both unlimited would be nice...but i can't see sprint allowing that. i've been told that i can have the ic902 on a cdma plan, but that direct connect would not work.

I had it. The phone runs on sprints networks and the dc runs off nextel. Yes it works. But I had alot of complications that started when I called to activate my phone. Might have been just my phone but read of similar problems with others. I'd do some research and read reviews on the phone before getting. I had mine for 5 months and had to get a new one. I couldn't deal with the issues any more.

I think you mean "unlimited dc and unlimited m2m", since all Sprint plans have unlimited n&w, as far as I know.

Well I got a great rep on the phone. Two hours of work, and its finally complete. Got all my add-ons put on the new plan. So it is the iDEN plan, with all my CDMA features - Hybrid ic902.
Great job Sprint!

So I am sitting here reading the threads in the forum and thinking about waiting for the instinct to come out...However, I have had sprint for years and I don't even have service in my neighborhood. We have called and complained a million times and nothing has ever been done about it. So I call and ask if there is anyting that can be done since 2 of my phones were coming off of contract next month and the third was not far behind. They make a few suggestions after reading into the account and figuring out that it is a problem area. We finally ended up with 3 ic902's and got to keep my retentions CDMA plan, added the walkie talkie, kept my 20% account discount and the wonderful rep added another 10% discount. He even called me to help me activate after I spoke to him the night before so that I would know what to ask for when I activated. He was a wonderful rep.

There is my plan with the ic902 on the Hybrid Plan (retentions, just as the CDMA was marked with high pri note). I got to keep the majority of my retention CDMA add-ons. The only two features that I could not keep were Free Phone-As-Modem (because Advanced Tech Support has to add it or something... so they put in a click-it-ticket for it).
And also, the Free 5PM code is no longer in the system (only the $10 code is); so I was offered either 6PM for free, or 7PM and M2M both free. I took the M2M and 7PM - and am as happy as a meadow lark with my plan - has everything I need! While it might not be "the best" it suites me!
Glad to see this has worked for others! Any questions just ask. I am happy to help. And I absolutly love my ic902 so far.

wow, well if this is true, this is definitely a better alternative for me. So, it's really only 5 bucks to add DC to a CDMA plan????
