View Full Version : Best Route for Contract Extension

My current contract expires in 10 days. Current plan is as follows:

400m F&F $40 (underutilize minutes by about 100-150 minutes)
$5 300 SMS
$15 PowerVision
$7 Protection Plan
10% CU Discount (Just added since learning of feature - I have a CU account)
Total Bill = approx $75/mo

Was with Sprint from 01-04, Nextel Partners 04-06, Sprint (CDMA) 06-Present.

I want to extend with Sprint, but feel that $75 consideration is a bit small for a two year extension (had to replace phone last year).

I am currently looking at the Blackberry 8830 since I am a heavy email user and am starting a small online retail operation. I would value an equipment discount far greater than plan discounts.

My Question: What is a reasonable price point that I can offer?

I am not looking to extort Sprint, but am looking for a fair deal.

Thanks.

You're paying for everything that you would get for free in a SERO plan. If you really wanted that BB, it is a bit difficult to get the BB data to work propely with sero, but not impossible. You could even purchase the $30 data package for BB's and still save about $15/month (the CU dis**** may no longer apply). Granted, this doesn't guarantee you too much of an equipment discount (unless you can get new customer pricing or better) but you'll make it up with plan savings in the long run.

Call up Sprint and see what they can do for you. Also make up your mind as to what your think would be a reasonable price and wont "extort" Sprint. And see if you can get a high discount or best if you get the SERO 500 plan. I think the SERO 500 plan would be best for you and also cheap. Your bill shouldn't come out to more than $45 a month with the SERO 500 plan. But see what others have gotten and read their thoughts/opinions. But if I was you, I would go with the SERO 500 route and get me a BB.

The SERO plan though with a Blackberry add-on is in my opinion not as good of a deal as the Simply Unlimited plans.

Do you know what the SERO plans include?

I'm decently aware about what's included. I was able to get into the SERO store by using the email address in a press release. Checked pricing on a 500 min SERO plan with a BB pack, Total Equipment and GPS Navigation and the plan cost is $76 a month before taxes and fees. I would lose my credit union discount through SERO.

I can get the same on a SU plan for $70 plus the insurance and taxes. Plus, I would still be eligible for the Credit Union discount, which is 10% off of the MRC.

If I wasn't getting a Blackberry, then there would be a price differential in favor of SERO, I understand that. However, I have used Treos and WM devices in the past and hated them both.

I know, off topic, but why is "discount" edited by the system?

Was offered $150 off an 8830 today. Might try to play the game and go lower, but who knows anymore. Letstalk price is what I am aiming for.

best of luck with everything...
My contract is up in mid-June and I've been floating around these boards lately figuring out what I want to do.

You must have meant $67 right?

$30 = Sero 500
$30 = Sprint PowerVision BB Pack (includes gps telenav and unlimited texts)
$7 = TEP
$67 = total plus taxes minus any discounts that may stay.

I did not know the BB Pack included the Navigation, so I can back that out. So, assuming my CU 10% discount doesn't stand, it's break even.
