69.99 Unlimited txt, and internet

Hi,
brand new here... Glad I found the place though. Just have a few questions that I hope can be answered...I just purchased a plan from Radio Shack that includes Unlimited text and internet, n/w mins start at 7 and free weekends. Do I have SMS, and if so... How do I use it?

I am new to a "plan" phone, before I had a VM phone. Also, with the SMS is it free or what does it cost... What are the specifics of this plan, what should I look out for... etc. ?

Do you mind explaining what the difference in text and SMS messages are? Also I just called customer service and had the plan changed from 69.99 to the 49.99
package, I am afraid I won't be using the internet enough to justify paying the extra 20.00 a month.

There is no difference. SMS stands for "short message service." It's just the way that text messages are sent. The terms are used interchangeably.

It is better to get text messages included in a data package rather than stand alone. Let's say - unlimited picture mail, 1000 text messages, 10 radio stations and 10 tv stations, and email. Let's say this package costs 15 or 20 dollars. Means more bang for your buck. I think it is a better deal. Having it included with your phone plan is a good idea too. Some of the lower plans is not worth adding 20 dollars too it. Some consumers look at the minutes included in the plan rather than the perks. Go for the perks. You get more for your money. Is 2100 minutes better than 500 minutes with free incoming and roaming and unlimited walkie-talkie plus an added data packet. You be the judge. One gives more bang for the buck than the other!
