So with the playoffs near, who do you all like? In the west I like the spurs, and the east I like the pistons. And to win it all.......DETROIIIIITTTTTTTT BASKETBALLLLLLLLLLL lol thoughts, comments?
Of course I'd like to say Cavs all the way...it's going to be hard. They aren't playing good at all right now but hey, we have Lebron James, with him miracles can happen! It looks like they will face the Celtics in the 2nd round, if they can beat them, I think they can handle the Pistons. The West is jacked up...I don't have a clue...those are going to be some good series out west!

I would like to say the Cavs as well but they need everyone healthy. At times they look good and other times they look bad. If Lebron can stay healthy and someone else steps up like Gibby did last year then I think anything is possible. Pistons and Celtics both look good but who knows they might have peeked to early. Not sure about the West either.

How so? It just shows how strong the Western Conference is as a whole. Virtually every team is a 50+ win team vs only TWO in the Eastern Conference. Mind you, I am only talking about the TOP 8 teams. But newayz, if you haven't noticed as of now I'm a Laker fan! So you know who I'll be cheering for! :)

Celtics lack Playoff experience as a team they will Fold, the spurs need to start playing all 4 quarters not just the first two.
I could see Phoenix going far i'm still pulling for the Silver and Black

That's what I'm saying...they're all good but no one is great! Some of that is the fact that they all just continue to beat down on each other but still, you could have ANY of the 8 teams in the Finals and there wouldn't be a suprise...

dont get ahead of yourself.
celtics might not have any experience in the playoffs,
but everyone said at the begining the season they wouldnt do good
playing together this year...
The Starting 5 Can hold their own with any other team,
and James Posey as our 6th man, remember what he did for miami
a few years back, and he does have that ring from it...
We are talking about the best bench in the NBA, best Defense in the NBA.
we'll see what happens, as far was the west is, thats gonna be a hard one to call because all those teams are about even.
Celtics and Suns in finals. Phoenix just needed a true center to allow Amare to abuse the other power forwards. They are too small to guard him. Celtics because the three-headed beast is starting to get some real help from their bench.

Given the Spurs are a great team. With them and the Lakers winning 6 of the last 8 NBA championships, it's apparent that they can get the job done. But if you do not have the player that you rely on (Manu Ginobili) that can contribute to a lose for the team. But to lose by 21??? Given the Lakers are a powerhouse in the western conference, but IMHO that game should have been closer than it really was.
But to state (as most have said as well) that Phoenix will go far and possibly take the west is NOT going to happen. The Lakers are too strong and they have the right players come back at the right time. And the best thing is the fact that they are a TEAM now. They do not rely strickly on Kobe and he's happy for it!
You and everyone else who are involved in this discussion can say what you will about the Lakers. But you can NOT deny the one and only fact,... The Lakers ARE the team to beat in the west, period!

Pistons of course.
Looking like this could be a good run.
They are getting real production from other players who don't get their names announced at the beginning of the game.
They've been flying under the radar all season, beating all the west teams (except Utah) at least once, and sweeping PHX, SA, and NO in the process. Boston has been tough for them, so that is the only series that would concern me.
For some reason, though, it's feeling like 2004 all over. No hype, no expectations, nobody is talking about them.
And it's just the way they like it! :D Go Pistons!!

i think spurs are going to go all the way...and the rockets might have a chance if they get there act together...pistons is a good team but i think they wont make it to championships and the suns has a good lineup but not championship material..it will be spurs and celtics..or the rockets and celtics..lol

lol no way houston gets over the lakers or spurs, and the celtics dont have NO experience whats so ever....The pistons on the other hand have been in what like 5 eastern conference championships in a row, 2 finals apperances and 1 nba title.....Yeah the PISTONS are going all the way sorry.

WooHoo! I can't believe my Sixers upended the pistons at the Palace. While I have no illusions whatsoever about them winning the series, it was encouraging to see how resilient they were when they got down by 15. Anything more at this point is just gravy IMO and would provide a boost going into the offseason free agency period.

Cavs played all 4 quarters and it's always nice to win by 30 points. :)
Yeah, the Cavs finally had a game where they looked good. James quietly got is 30, that was nice. I don't care for the Wizard's strategy to foul Lebron hard everytime he drives the lane. That's basically saying that he's too good, and we can't beat him without taking him out. Kinda the whole hack a shaq philosopy...not a fan.
Oh well, let's just hope this is the beginning of what's to come...a Wizard's sweep then beat the Celtics.

Man, just bad 1st round draws in the West thus far. Ideally, I would have liked to have seen the Suns face the lakers in the 1st round, the Mavs vs. the Spurs, Hornets vs. Rockets and Jazz vs. Nuggets. Ah well, maybe things will get better for the underdogs when they get on their home courts.

Lebron is an amazing player. He is going to look good in 2 years in the Knicks uniform, playing in MSG. The rumor mill here is that the new GM is going to throw the franchise at his feet.
Hopefully I hope he stays in Cleveland because I do not like the Knicks, but I think it will probably happen.
We'll see what happens with Lebron later...time will tell. I'm just ready to get past these annoying Wizards. What a bunch of children. They can't beat the Cavs on the court so they have to trash talk and try to get under their skin. NEWS ALERT! It's not working! Stevenson can take his gay hand wave and shove it in his pants and go get happy somewhere.

Anybody (stevenson) that show boats when they make one 3-pointer when there team is down buy 16 points is a clown. I almost hate the Wizards as much as the Michigan Wolverines and the Steelers. lol I think as long as Dan Gilbert is getting good players to help Lebron I don't see him leaving his home town but anything is possible. If the Knicks/Nets don't make major improvements next year I don't see anyone wanting to play for either team the following year.

Also It's not like Lebron is scrapping pennies so he doesn't need a killer contract. If Lebron brings a Championship to Cleveland in the next few years I won't be as upset if he leaves for another team. lol If he was to leave I see him possible going to the Nets more then the Knicks since he's buddies with the Nets co-owner Jay-Z. Wizard players just can't shut up. lol Brendan Haywood said "He wears 23, he wants to be Michael Jordan, I can respect that, he's a great player. You saw what Mike went through. Mike got fouled way worse than this. No one is trying to hurt him, everybody is trying to play basketball, trying to play tough. Play basketball and leave it alone". Easy for him to say considering he's not the one getting pushed while he's in mid air or knocked in the head. James said the Wizards won't come back from 3-1 but Gilbert Arenas said they will.

LeBron could be a nightmare for Celtics
Ken Berger
10:46 PM EDT, May 4, 2008
BOSTON
With 3:05 left in the third quarter Sunday, Kevin Garnett converted a layup, absorbed a foul from Zaza Pachulia (which means "mindless antagonist" in Russian) and stood under the basket to tell the fans what they already knew.
"It's over," Garnett mouthed, his words preceded by an expletive and punctuated with a throat-slash gesture that might earn him a fine he will gladly pay.
At this point, it was 70-36 for the home team, which meant two things: This Game 7 was way too big for the Atlanta Hawks, and the fans of New England finally saw a team perform worse on the parquet this season than the Knicks did.
It ended with a 99-65 victory for the Celtics, who easily prevented their 66-win regular season from spinning clockwise in a commode. But if this makes sense, getting pushed to a surprising seventh game was not really a test for the Celtics. It was more a warm.up for their fans, who broke out in song with such stadium classics as "U-S-A!" for Pachulia and "Where is Bib-by?" for the Hawks' point guard, who was tucked safely on the bench the entire fourth quarter.
As witty/tasteless as those ventures into arena chanting were, the next few bars we heard at TD Banknorth Garden might go down as famous last words.
"Bring on Cleve-land!" they began, polishing off the afternoon with something I'm not sure I agree with: "We want Cleve-land!"
Do they?
Well, that's who the Celtics get. And you can bet LeBron James will make Celtics fans sweat even more than the Hawks did.
"I don't know what message the rest of the league got," Garnett said. "But this is our home court, we're comfortable here, and this is how we play here. We don't play for anyone else but ourselves."
I wasn't as impressed with the Celtics' Game 7 performance as, say, Garnett or Doc Rivers were. I'm still wondering what the heck they were doing in that predicament to begin with.
"This has to be something that we continue," Garnett said.
But the Cavs don't have anyone as erratic as Marvin Williams, who took out Rajon Rondo on a breakaway layup as though he were playing safety in the NFL, thus earning a flagrant-two and ejection less than three minutes into the third quarter.
They don't have anyone whose rhetoric is as empty as Pachulia's. What's with this guy? He goes nose-to-nose with Garnett in Game 4, then takes a charge from KG Sunday and does the Dikembe Mutombo finger wag -- with the Hawks trailing 70-39.
A much more difficult series, against a far superior opponent, begins Tuesday in the same building.
"When we play like that," Garnett said afterward, "it's pretty hard to beat us. The only question is consistency."
Does this mean the Celtics are back? That they've awakened from their first-round slumber?
Not necessarily. The inevitable discussion about whether Garnett can carry a team on his back through a tough playoff series has been postponed, though not squelched.
The Celtics didn't even need Garnett Sunday, which is good because he said he didn't sleep at all the night before. (Rivers said he got 10 hours, courtesy of Ambien.) But they will need KG in the next round. If he doesn't deliver, the accusations that resurfaced after Garnett passed up so many shots in the fourth quarter of Game 6 will come back again.
"The good, the bad, the ugly," Celtics veteran P.J. Brown said. "The playoffs expose everything."
It's not clear yet if the Celtics were exposed for taking so long to dispense with the scattershot Hawks. But if Pachulia could keep Garnett up all night, what about James?
"The times I've played against KG, he's been clutch," Brown said. "What I've seen from him, he can get it done."
Rivers downplayed a pregame chat he had with Garnett, calling it "just checking in." The reality is, Garnett is going to have to do a lot more in the next round for the Celtics to get where they're trying to go. He'd better get some sleep.

Calling a foul on the opponent for running into your own teammate is an all-time low for NBA officiating IMO.

The Pistons "home guy" controlling the clock must have been taking a sip of his beer and forgot to start the clock at the end of the 3rd Quarter allowing billups to hit a 3-pointer. :hee: Who knows what would've happened if the clocked worked right but it sucks that they can't go back and put a stopwatch on it to see like what the tv crew did and or the officials should have noticed it right away and blown the play dead. And don't tell me those 3 points didn't matter. Pistons did play well though and Orlando made some stupid mistakes towards the end of the game.

The detroit series is turning out to have more drama this year than the Suns, Spurs.
I hope no one is counting out the defending champs yet..
How about that BULLS**T no call at the end of the Cavs game!? Crap. I mean Lebron would have went to the line for 2, I'm not saying the Cavs would have won but....
Just a heartbreaker....oh well, Lebron has an off night and scores like 11, and the Celtics can only win by 4...ha ha weak!

Cavs blew the game. They had to many turnovers and shot horrible. It looked like Lebron was fouled before the shot which the Celtics had a foul to give but Lebron just missed a layup. Lebron had a bad night but I'm just surprised the Cavs only lost by 4 points. Lebron will bounce back and show how great he is don't worry.

The Celtics defense was good but come on Lebron James had many open looks and missed some layups not to mention he had 3 or 4 shots that were almost in but rattled out. Lebron had a off night which doesn't happen that much but just ask the Pistons what he did after a bad game 4 last year in the Playoffs. I'll just tell you James scored 29 of the last 30 points for the Cavs in their Game 5 beating the Pistons by himself.

Playoff ball does take more out of them but regardless who wins the Cavs/Boston series I doubt the Pistons are just going to walk all over them. I'm not saying the Pistons aren't a good team but it's not going to be as easy as you two make it out to be.
I really like how the Cavs bench is playing. That posterizing dunk Lebron James had on Garnett was awesome.

Man...too bad the Magic couldn't pull that one off. I would have loved to see Cavs Magic in the Finals. I don't know what they were thinking when they were down 3 there and Terkaloo drove, I think a 3 would have been a more wise choice... Oh well, good series, could easily be 2-3 Magic right now...

I really thought the Magic would come to play tonight but they missed to many foul shots and had to many turnovers. Oh well hopefully the Pistons sit on the sofa and get lazy watching the Cavs/Boston series.

Dam another game the Cavs let slip away in Boston. Cavs pretty much lost the game on line shooting 28-41. :td: Rondo had a good game and his 2 three pointers right before halftime were big. Hopefully the Cavs get one more chance in Boston. :fingers:
They will...they've been very strong in Cleveland. Hopefully they're figuring things out in Boston and can take game 7! It wasn't even the Cavs and the line, it was freakin Verajo! Oh well...at least Lebron was sorta playing like Lebron should...at least in the first half!

The Ball bounced the Celtics way in game 7. It happens... Pierce and Lebron had great games. It was a good series but just upset that the Cavs had 3 close games in Boston but just couldn't find a way to win.
I would like for another 7 game series but as much as I hate the Pistons I think they will beat Boston in 5 or 6 games.
Yeah, great series....too bad they can't play game 7's in a neutral location. Cavs had like 18 less wins this year but were the better team. Oh well...Lebron's only what 24? LOL! He's got another 20 good years in him! Look out in 2009, they need one more just decent player...

One last post about my Cavs. I forgot to say that Gibby being out did hurt the Cavs. It's bit drastic and it's probably not possible but I would like the Cavs to change the team again. Get rid of everyone but West, Smith, Wally and Gibby. Like you said 88jr Lebron only needs 1 player that can score points. Jordon didn't start winning Championships until Pippen got on his team. Lebron has at least a few more seasons in Cleveland before his contract is up. Hopefully he take the Cavs to another finals and wins it. Jame's is only 23 years old.

How were the Cavs the better team with 18 less wins in the same conference? The Celts didn't get any breaks from the refs last night despite being the home team. Did you see Lebron pull Pirece's shirt and there was no call? Or when Mike Brown came on the court into the middle a scuffle? Lebron is a great young player but he choked down the stretch missing a few shots and a free throw.

Boston really didn't play that good in Cleveland. The officiating was bad for both teams in game 7 and I could only imagine the Celtic fans blaming the refs if the Cavs did win game 7. If you listened to the announcers they thought a few hard fouls should have been flagrant fouls on Boston. Garnetts steal looked to me that he kicked it which wasn't called. As far as James choking I disagree he had a few 3-pointers late in the game and scored 45 points 14-of-29 shooting from the field and 14-of-19 from the free-throw line in, 5 Reb 6 Ast, 2 Stl in 47 minutes. Eddie Jones and West had wide open 3-pointers that they missed when the game was on the line so I guess you can say they choked. Now I guess you could say James choked in games 1 & 2 since he shot horrible.

Will see how he is in game 1 but he's had a week or two of rest so I'm sure that's helped. Boston might be tired in game 1 since they had two 7 game series in row. Boston is good at home so far but they will not win the Championship without winning on the road.

Lebron is very good but he is no Kobe. Kobe can turn a game around at anytime and has been known to find a weakness in a defense and expolit it until they double or triple him....then our role players have to show up.

Fisher vs Rondo - This could go either way
Kobe vs Allen - Kobe but if Allen scores 15-20 points I don't see L.A. winning
Odom vs Pierce - Pierce plays good against L.A.
Radmanovic vs Garnett - Garnett wants a Championship bad
Gasol vs Perkins - Perkins had been playing good and Gasol is soft. Gasol is quicker but could go either way.
Welllllllll,I promise to never fall asleep during half time of any remaining Celtics/Lakers games again!!!hopefully only one more!!I guess the whole Celtics team drank several cases of Red Bull before and during the game.To all the sportscasters that said such negative things about the Celtics and pissed them off--THANK YOU!

No. 24 not so good ...
A 24-point lead -- blown. The 24th Finals game of Kobe Bryant's career -- a huge loss. No. 24 scores only 17 -- a miserable showing. Game 4 might very well be the end of the Rivalry Revisited.
Last night I figured if the Lakers could come back from 24 points so could the Celtics. I'm glad I didn't turn off the t.v. Pierce put the lock down on Kobe in the 2nd half. I couldn't believe that the Lakers let Allen blow right by Sasha for a easy lay up late in the game. No NBA finals team has come back from 3-1 and this laker team won't be the first.

No one said that Kobe is perfect. Yes, he is Mr. Laker,.. but then again what would YOU say if someone said the same for Bron? Isn't HE Mr. Cav? Without him, they would be NOTHING! Just wait,.. IF and I do mean IF he does leave the Cavs, they will end up JUST like the Wolves, bottom of the chain from when KG left. Atleast the rest of the lakers can score and win a game even IF Kobe doesn't.
OH and one other thing, one game at a time; one game at a time.
The biggest test will be how they play tonights game in boston. Def do or die for Lakertown.

Yes my Cavs will probably suck if Lebron leaves but that's not til a few more years so will see what happens when the time comes. What is funny is that Kobe acted like a baby at the start of this season and demanded to be traded. Do you think the Lakers would be in the Finals right now if Kobe wasn't a Laker? I wouldn't be surprised if Kobe does the same thing next year. The only way the Lakers can win if Kobe doesn't score is if key players for the other team don't play. The Lakers offense sucks when Kobe is on the bench.
I think Rondo will play better tonight since he's at home. KG will play good to but he needs to save some energy for the 4th quarter.
Geez...I guess this means the Cavs were about 30 seconds away from winning the title in game 7 against Boston...sad. They could have easily beat Detroit and the Lakers if Boston did! Oh well...next year, next year...is there any NASCAR on.................
