I need to be able to force roaming which apparently you can't do on the Pearl. I love it. Any suggestions on a comparable replacement?

Centro does it.

Is there a reason you need to pay an extra $30 a month for Blackberry service? Does your job pay for it? If so then get another BB. If not save a few hundred dollars a year by getting a Palm OS or Windows based device. I get push mail to both my Mogul and Q9C for $4.95 a month through 1and1.com. No way in hell would I pay an extra $25 a month for the same service unless my employer is paying for it.

Ck out the 8830,Its awesome,I have it and found it to be everything and more than I expected it to be. I pay for the unlimited package and can do anything I want and talk all I want. I also have sprint navigation. It doesn't have have a camera but I have that already, and you cant watch tv,but there is a program to get that you can download to your pc that allow you to download youtube and dvd and drag and drop to your bb,you have great battery life longest of all the phones I have found . It will sync with google and outlook.I love the bigger screen and keypad easier to me.With the sd card you can add pic, music, and video. I have found 8gb micro sd cards, was wanting the 80 ipod but really almost think I don't need one with this phone ,guess it depends on your age and what your looking for,and what you really need . Good luck in your search.

I am another spokesperson for the Centro. I tried Blackberry (8830) and couldn't stand the OS or the phone... it's freakin' huge. I realize this makes me a minority since people are always saying BB's are like crack, but I was sorely disappointed and still kind of wonder what people like so much about them. However, if you want to stay with Blackberry, the 8830 is a damn solid phone. And if you like the BB OS, then I'd have nothing bad to say about it other than its size (seriously, it's huge). I have no idea if you can force roaming on it, though.

I am very much anti-WinMo these days, having left a Windows device for Palm. I don't think I'll ever look back. The Centro is nice and small, comparable to the size of the Pearl (shorter but fatter, I'd think), and like impaler said, you can force roaming on it. If the Centro is too small for you (keyboard is kind of small for some people), the 755p is also an excellent phone and I'd imagine you can force roaming on it as well.

Now, because I like to be fair... if you like Windows Mobile, I know many people who are very happy with their Moguls and the Touch, but I can't speak for the forced roaming thing.

I have a Touch. You can force it to only roam.

Question: why are others suggesting other blackberries? From what I gathered the only reason the OP is switching is because you can't force the Pearl to roam. Wouldn't that be the case for all BBs?

You can't force any Blackberry's to roam so they're all out. I have a Mac too.
