I'm just curious if other 8830 owners are going to get the curve when it comes out or stay w/the 8830. I've only had the 8830 for about 3 weeks but I love it. I think that I will keep it, but there are some days that I think maybe I'll get the Curve. I really don't need the camera, so the 8830 works great for me. My problem is that usually after I start actually playing w/the Curve when it comes out, I'm afraid that I will buy it....

You will probably be told to keep it to one curve post,
but my answer is yes I will get the curve. I realize after having the 8830 since day 0 that i don't need the cdma/gsm function of world edition and it supposedly its not as effecient to just swap the sim as its supposed to be.
the camera is minimal but the form factor is what really has me. So I will definately be switching and putting my 8830 up for sale.

I won't be eligible for my rebate until later this year, so if they give it to me a little earlier, I will get the Curve. Otherwise, I'll wait and see what others think of it first, and may or may not get it when my rebate eligibility is up. I've wanted the Curve for so long that I think I've burnt out at this point and I don't really care for it as much anymore. It's a nice phone, and IMO the best looking Curve of all providers, but for some reason I still have lost that "I have got to have this phone at any cost" feeling...

I already gave up my 8830 for the curve, I sold it on ebay. I just wish the curve had come out.
Never under estimate the value of your old phone on ebay!
Take that $175-$200 and apply that to your non rebate price of your Curve.
Problem is, wait till your rebate is valid, and it's possible the 8830 is worth $60, look at the 7130.

Why only the 8830 users? Why not the 8130 or 8703 or older versions of BB users? I'm definitely upgrading when it comes out.

True, I was just curious because I have an 8830, but I came from a 8703 too. The bad news is I am trying out a 8130. Just got a Otterbox case for and now I'm really loving this phone.

I have an 8830 that I use for my business... I'll most likely keep it. My Razr V3m, I was thinking of replacing with a Curve. I don't worry about contracts, but see my Razr will be OOC in November, so maybe I'll wait to allow a Curve shake down as it were.

I just jumped ship to the Blackberry world, and I'm taken away by the speed everything works at, my previous phone 755p doesn't hold a candle to it. And for an additional 25/month it wasn't that bad. Anyway, I switched now to hope the 8330 comes out before my 30 day switch is up. The blackberry OS is rock solid, the only thing I don't care for on this phone would be the looks of it, they aren't that bad, just not as nice as 8330. But as an 8830 user, I'll definitely be switching to curve. I might even sell my new 755p from insurance just to buy a curve out of contract. ESN should be clean on that phone as I extended my contract.

I am about to do the same thing, Jump ship from the 755p to the curve when it comes out.
How do you like the contacts manager on the phone as well as other things that are really simple on the Treo?
A small comparison with you opinions would be great.

Hey,
I had a Treo 650 before I got my BB 8703e. While I was used to using the Palm format for years (had a palm pilot), I actually like the BB contact manager a little better. Easier to email directly from a contact. You do lose some of the little sections on the BB (like birthday, etc...) but I sync mine with Outlook and I do just well. Its easy to adapt to, in my opinion. The BB os is like a million times more stable than that of Palm. Goodness, it got to the point with the 650 that I couldnt even make a call or check a text without the phone freezing up. No problems with the BB so far (except when the BB had a server outage) and its been since November. Overall, I think you will be pleased. I do miss my sms being kept in a chat format and I miss my touch screen (really really do, lol) but thats about it. Any specifics, just ask me and I will try to help you out as much as I can.

funny you bring up the bday section of the treo's contact list check out the contacts on the pearl and you can def add bday's to a contact on them... I unfortunately cant use that on my 8830 but what do you mean you miss your sms being kept in a chat format the blackberries do have threaded messaging it may not be the same as the treo's but its still better then what you would get on windows phone or regular flip. as for the stability of the bb it is hands down the most stable pda on the market these guys who design these phones got it down pack...
btw i too will be gettin the pearl when the phone comes out

No way -- need the international capability.

No way -- need the international capability.
That's pretty sound reasoning. I know when I bought my 8830, I anticipated a good amount of international travel coming up. Wouldn't you know when I got the 8830, the travel needs changed... no need to go abroad for the foreseeable future. So Sprint took the int'l coverage off so I could save a few bucks (which then gave me PAM included) until (or if) it's necessary later on.
