(I apologize in advance if this belongs in the 8330 coming to Sprint thread. I thought this was a little off topic and didn't want to be rude.)
Will you be in or out of contract when the Curve is available? If you're out of contract, will you simply pay the retail price or invoke other methods to obtain a Curve? I'm being nosy. :D

i will be paying full pice for it if i get it the first week. i am debating on waiting a few weeks to see if the reviews hold up. i know i can return the device if has big problems i just dont want to take a chance on loosing my current data plan. i have everything for free (data, nav, text) right now. will have everything free (BES,nav, text) if i go BB as well. i just dont know how long they will let me keep switching.
i may wait a week or two and get it off ebay for a few bucks cheaper. the only thing is i like to have things now. i can hardly wait till the 16-20 now as is it. bottom line is i will probably get it for full price on the 16TH.
even if the corporate stores have them in stock before the 20th, most wont sell before then. my seceret is to find a wireless accessories store that has them. the allways sell them as soon as they get them. they sold 20 touches on NOV 3rd and the sprint stores couldnt sell them until the 4th.
dont tell anyone my seceret.

I will either pay full retail the day it's available or wait until early June for my contract to expire. I'm leaning towards waiting so I can see how it's treated by the reviews, and then also choose between the gray or red, and save some $$$ at the same time. We'll see.

i would recommend the phone book. what i did back before i know where and how, was call the stores and say stright up... " hey, i know the phone is out and store are able to sell starting the 20th. do you have any in stock and will you sell one know." i bought the 700wx before it was offically released like this. i got the touch through the wireless accessories store.
edit it's not wireless accessories... it's wireless lifestyle. see this link (http://examiner.localconnect.com/search.aspx?keyword=Wireless++lifestyle&location=INDEPENDENCE%2c+MO). search for your area.

But if I do decide I wanna try it out, it's either eBay or through one of the phone whores on here. :p
Anyone know the MSRP yet? That will give me a better estimate of how much it will go for on eBay and the TP.

Well originally thought to be $599.99. But with the pricing for it $179.99 with 2 year contract after $170 instant and $100 mail in. You add that back and you get $449.99 so I dont know what it will be.

$600!! Yeah, that seems at least $100 too high, unless it's introducing some major new features (which it may since I haven't really been keeping up with it).
So I'm going to guess that it will hover in the mid $300's on eBay and elsewhere a couple of months after release. If it gets rave reviews I suppose it's worth a try. :)

Yeah I really am wondering what the price will be and whether it would be worth it for me to use my $75 credit I have with sprint and sign a 1 year contract to get it. Then I would sell my muziq and make up the cost there as well.

Will stores typically sell a new phone that just gets released that is going to be popular, at full cost since it wouldn't be a new activation for them?

Put all of your money and credit cards in a time-locked safe set to open exactly 60 days after the release date. Then go buy a new Curve on eBay for $350, sell your Muziq for $100 (?), and you've got yourself a new BlackBerry with no contract extension for $250. :tu:
I've found myself in the past few years reluctant to sign new contracts for phones. For a better plan price - yes. But not for a phone. The value of it decreases so fast that it just isn't worth it to me. But I'm weird like that. :)

It varies from store to store. From my experience is most of them won't. Which leads to the method in which I use to get new phones that I want. It all started with the i870, they refused to sell it to me outright so I just bought the phone in a new line and 2 year contract and just cancel it when I get home.

I am up in the air about the Curve right now. i know I would like it because I love my Pearl and its basically a Pearl with a full QWERTY without SureType. The only thing that puts it up in the air is that I am considering the Instinct. I know it can do corporate e-mail but how well and also will it do calendar and contacts? My BB does everything corporate so well so I may decide to carry two devices, if I decide to carry two devices, one will be the Instinct (unless after using it I decide I hate which I am doubting I will but its a possibility) the other will be my BB Pearl and I will wait until a PTT BlackBerry comes out. Either that iDEN/WiFi BB or the PTT CDMA BB. Whichever way I decide to get it will the lower price since it will be a new line and I get employee pricing! :)

The phone has to be returned or you get charged the 200$ cancellation fee.
You can still cancel your service within the 30 day period, without the fee, IF you return the phone. If you keep the phone, they hit you with the 200$ fee.

I would imagine Sprint would charge you the full retail price of the phone, since the discount is clearly stipulated in the contract as being dependent on carrying out the full contract terms.
I don't know anything about a $200 cancellation fee, but that might be in addition to the MSRP charge.
If the above is completely wrong and Sprint is just handing out $200 fees instead of charging the full retail price, then...well...Sprint is just being stupid.

They can charge full msrp for the phone but can NOT charge the 200 cancellation fee if it is done the same day or second day. There must be a grace period or an amount of days to cancel.

This should work. There is no way that they would charge you a cancellation fee after the trial period (after all, it's just like cancelling any other in-contract line), AND go back and charge you full retail for the phone. Only time you get charged full retail is if you cancel WITHIN trial period and don't return it.
What you said does indeed work, but you also have to factor two things: the activation fee (since you have to let it go PAST the trial period before you cancel) and at least one month of service. So at least another $60.

I am out of contract on my main line and will be using my discount to get the curve. I assume the discounts will be the instant ($170), 2 yr agreement ($150) and the mail in ($100). Since I am out of contract, I also assume a call to retentions will not give me a better deal. if that is not the case, please let me know.

and the way the market is going, I think those cancellation fees will become a relic. Look how fast the everything plan swept though the industry. It is only a matter of time before contracts are extinct or competing carriers are willing to pay you to get out of your contracts. Whenever I get hit up at the mall form an aggressive cell phone sales person, I ask if they are willing to pay my $200 cancellation fee. When they offer discounts on a phone I hit them back with the fact I can already get the discount, but, you give me a $200 credit on my new line of service, and we are in business. I think they would like to do it to make the sale, but, just are not allowed to....yet.

I was checking my sprint account, because I got the a900, (had work Treo) when it came out in 2005? I think? Anyway, when I check the rebate page, I am eligible for the full rebate offer, however on sprint.com my contract ends in 2009? Very odd. I wonder if I don't remember switching my plan or something, either way that should be moot since sprint no longer considers plan extensions to be a valid contract renewal's (could cancel without term fee)?
That's the first thing I need to figure out, however does anyone have some ideas on how I can get a better plan/good deal on the Curve when it drops? I will be adding BES, so in theory, text data and such should be included + whatever minute package I get?
Any ideas?

Get the Simply Everything Plan and add BES to it if you want the extras like text, etc.
If not, you'll need to get the BES plan (which is pricey) and add text and whatever else you want - on top of your voice plan.

Right now under the SERO package, adding unlimited texting is free. Not sure how long it will last though.
And the 500 min plan includes:
"Unlimited Nights & Weekends starting at 7pm!
Domestic long distance
Unlimited Mobile to Mobile
Unlimited Web/Data Access
Unlimited Picture Mail (with compatible devices) "
+ BES = $70 a month.
I guess when it comes out I will call retention to see what they say.

I currently have a Centro on a SERO plan, I have had 3 insurance replacements because my navigation button keeps breaking. I am now waiting on my FOURTH insurance replacement on my Centro.
I contacted eCare and explained that I wanted to cancel and go to Tmobile for the Curve, so far they offered me 100.00 off the Curve once it becomes available for Sprint, though they will not confirm the official price that the handset will be...
Im definitely switching to the Curve IF I dont just cancel and go to TMobile or ATT...
If Tmobile offers me free unlimited text to switch, Im jumping ship!
Right now I have the 30.00 Sero plan, adding the BB service is another 30.00, that puts my bill @ around 70.00 a month with insurance and taxes. I priced Tmobile and its comparable...
We'll see. :)

I just spoke with a Customer Service Rep in the Cancellation Group @ Sprint. I called to inquire about cancelling, because my Mogul keeps freezing with my Exchange Outlook mail, it doesn't have MMS (the fix no longer works), and there's no navigation without doing the Rev. upgrade from the HTC website, and starting over with rebuilding my phone (programs, contacts, etc.). I told her I was looking into the Curve. I acted as if I didn't know that Sprint was coming out with the Curve. She told me the Curve is due out in JUNE, and that the release date of April 20th is no longer valid. Does anyone know if this is true? She also offered me the use of a BB Pearl until the Curve was available.

Hello fellow Marylander. Check out the curve thread here. You'll find all about the curve and about the confusing launch dates.
This will take you to page 90. If you have time you can check the previous pages and find more information.
Also If they are letting you use the pearl and are willing to replace it when curve comes out for the difference in price. I would take it.

I don't think I would get the curve anytime soon, probably when my contract ends in 2009 .hopefully new bb's would come out by then. ;D
I'm sure a new one will be out by then as well. We'll probably be looking at the new 9000 series. But from the photos of the device that have started leaking over the internet it doesn't seem to be in my upgrade path because its form factor is larger than that of the Curve and unless it offers Q-Chat functionality doesn't seem like a worthy successor. The Curve just has sex appeal and other features that should come standard on phones like a 3.5mm jack and GPS and performance!
I will upgrade if they release a new Curve next year with Q-Chat. Then I could use almost every feature that is offered with my Simply Everything plan.

Oh Ms - Come on you know that Curve is just calling your name......:ohcrap:
IMO the Sprint Curve is just as sexy as the Touch, Sprint picked the perfect color.
Agreed. The color is very nice on the eyes and I only thing I will add for a little protection is an InvisbleShield. I have it on my 8830 and it works perfectly and people always ask how do I not have any scratches on my device. Sometimes I even forget that there is a shield over the phone.
Well lets hope so b/c all my contacts/sources say it is delayed till at least June or July.

I'm in contract but have $75 toward a new phone if I want to use that. I will most likely go another route. Not sure what that will be yet but when the time comes I'll figure it out.

I have two lines with sprint; in contract on both. I haven't paid retail for a phone in years. The rumored $600 for the Curve is pretty steep. I'm gonna have to pull a rabbit outta the hat on this one.
