Trying to figure this out, maybe someone can help me, I have a Pantech PX-500, so I install the software and if I click on the sprint mobile broadband shortcut, it connects up and works perfect.

Now if I don't do that and I just open up internet explorer, a dial-up box pops up and if I click connect it dials the #777 and connects up and again works perfect.

Any reason I need to use the shortcut and the mobile braodband software or can I just use it fine without?

I just want to keep it as simple as possible, since I'll be borrowing it to a family member in the Hospital and I wouldn't say they are a strong computer user.

I believe this account is just setup with an unlimited data plan. I just want to make sure it doesn't count for minutes, which this card shouldn't have. I had connected up for years with the #777 and a cell phone, never got charged, though I don't do that anymore.

This is also my brother's card so I don't want to screw up his bill.

The Sprint Mobile Broadband software is a pretty method of creating and Dialing that same dial up connection remotely. The connection you are using will do just fine although you won't receive any software, firmware, or PRL updates using it. As a reference when people call in with their connection manager not working, if the connection manager cannot be fixed we setup people to connect with that Dial up connection. :headbang2

Well said.....

Just verify the cards plan for unlimited usage before you loan it out.
