The trial has been going on for a few months now, this is talking about the initial public release in those few markets.

Personally, i'm not concerned. LTE standards are not even set in stone so a build out isn't going to come anytime soon. Sprint still has a time to market advantage over it's competitors with this delay of a few months. Let them take their time and do this right and i think they find some great success.

Lol, if they came out with it on time and it was working poorly they'd take a heavy public beating. A delay is a smart move if everything isnt working properly.

x2. Everyone seems to throw Sprint under the bus pretty quickly its like their guilty before proven innocent.

WiMax was Forsse's thing in all honesty, and you could probably blame that moron for some of what is happening today. Hesse knows what he's doing and he's attacking a host of problems simultaneously. Likewise, building out a nationwide network isn't exactly an easy task.

Lets give Sprint and Hesse the benefit of the doubt here. There is likely good reason for this delay.

Sprint take a public beating? That never happens!

I'm hoping that the delay will result in Wi-MAX being launched in more cities at once. Hopefully it'll include New York and San Francisco.

no disagreement considering there have been WIMAX failures in other countries saying it didnt work well for range etc. I was more asking the implications for investors and Sprints problems as to the delay. Think this will hurt them with all the money invested to keep pushing it back especially when its jsut 3 or 4 cities at first anyways, meaning a much later consumer rollout (mid-2009 or even later its looking like).

Remember LTE should be ready by 2010 and is shining in reviews and tests so far. So thats cutting it close to their goal of being the first "4g carrier"
