ebay phone cloned?

I bought a new iden phone (unlocked) off ebay. I noticed the box had been opened, but assumed they had done that to unlock the phone and put in the blank unused sim card.
I put in my sim card from my older iden phone and had the Sprint rep do a OTA on it.
Now I am receiving some calls in Mexican on the new phone that I had not received before, along with my normal calls.

Question Is: Is it just a coincidence with some calls in Mexican or did the seller copy some numbers off the phone (clone) before he shipped it to me? I thought that they had to have my current sim to clone a phone. My sim never left my old phone until I transferred it to the new phone. Can a phone be cloned without my sim card in it? :1zhelp:

um im sorry but are you saying you had a nextel phone. bought a i580 off ebay that was "unlocked" to just stick your sim card in.. and now your getting calls from out of state?

Correct, except that Ixxx was new, never used. The Mexican calls could have been from anywhere, in my town, out of state, or country for that matter. Caller ID is not trustworthy, any number can be "spoofed", I get them here all the time on my home phone.

the sim may have been cloned, but i doubt it, if you suspect it is just go to a sprint store and get a new one issued.

yea i was having trouble understanding his post.


if its his orig SIM then thats all that matters cloning a nextel phone is a moot point as its the sim that makes it able to make calls/ receive calls/ DC.

its the same with a gsm phone, if you clone an IMEI you gain nothing as the sim is still unique
