Yankee Stadium, Making History!

My first trip ever, and it's going to be making history at the Yankee Stadium in it's final glory days. Jeter here I come!!!:gorgeous:

I'm hoping to score tickets to the Sept. 21 game.....the last one ever to occur at the old Yankee Stadium. keeping my :fingers:

All I know is that I do not appreciate the fact that the Yankees are coming to my town this year and bringing an extra $20 premium on top of regular ticket prices to boot. Coupled by the fact that I have to put my name into a lottery system just to win the opportunity to purchase tickets is really quite aggravating. With that said, I too will be keeping my fingers crossed that I win the chance to buy tickets either for a Yankees or Red Sox game since they will both be coming to Houston this year.

It's really a shame they're tearing down the old stadium. I understand why they're doing it and everything but it's a shame to see these old ballparks with all their history being torn down. I guess that's progress though.

When are you coming and what else do you plan on doing while you're in New York?

Right now the plan is for the last week in May (they play the Seattle, and we're trying to keep up tradition of whenever we go to a stadium it's when they're playing, A's, Angels, Padres, etc). But I registered for the lottery for premium games (opening day, boston games) so we'll see how it goes.

What else are we planning on doing? What AREN'T we planning on doing? It's my first time there, so we want to do the touristy stuff, the statue, broadway, the fake gucci purses, and the local stuff. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you pretty much have it covered. That's a great time to go there, it's usually still not too hot. Enjoy.
